I really want an enthusiast driving car. Problem is, I haven't driven manual but like twice.
If I got a Fiesta ST and had my brother get it home for me, would I be able to get up to manual driving prowess pretty quickly?
The only other things I've considered (and tested) are a 228i (probably too expensive) and both the FRS/BRZ, which obviously all come in automatic.
Should I risk learning manual for one of the highest rated enthusiast cars or just go automatic?
>should i risk learning manual
>risk learning manual
>risk

Idiot
Buy a 1980s-1990s sports car
Get way better performance

Sorry lemme rephrase.
Should I risk buying a manual without having driven one but a handful of times?

I prefer RWD too but shut the fuck up faggot and quit ruining these threads

When I bought my BRZ I had only driven manual a couple of times. I had my Dad drive it home. You'll learn in a week or two.
You'll get the hang of the basics within a few hours. After that you shouldn't stall (often), especially if you remember to be careful and smooth with the clutch.
>find empty parking lot
>practice start-stopping and creeping in 1st and reverse for an hour or two until you can do it consistently without stalling or jerking
>go drive wherever you want because everything else is easy as fuck
Don't get an instructor or anything. I had my dad try and teach me a couple weeks ago, and it really didn't help. Learning is much faster on your own. Shit like rev matching/hill-starts/heel-toe can be practiced with time as you are driving normally.
>my dad drove my new car home for me
Maybe it's where or how I grew up, but if that was something I'd ever said, I'd be pretty tempted to kill myself

There's a reason you prefer rwd
It's objectively better
>>14166310
You come off as a boring beta risk-averse normalfag millennial. Go ahead and get the automatic.

>the FRS/BRZ, which obviously all come in automatic
i like this meme
>>14166442
Well, they do have an auto option so he's not wrong...
>>14166462
What kind of jackass would pay an extra 1200 for automatic on a BRZ, a car that is about fun?
>>14166310
Did almost the same thing with the Focus ST, spent about an hour getting a feel for the clutch, and not long after had it more or less down, albeit nowhere near smooth as today, 3 years later

>knee problems
>le manual in traffic excuse
>better mpg
>shifts faster then a human could ever
>can't eat a big mac at the same time in a manual
>>14166472
Apparently there's a market for them, since the option is there and hasn't been thrown out. It seems to sell.
>>14166310
>had my brother get it home for me
KEK! KEK!
Do you have your make your gf cum for you too?
>>14166310
Bought a FiST with no other manual experience but an ancient Passat for like an hour. Drive it in a parking lot for a week, have been good since. Shit isn't rocket science.

funny because me and virtually everyone I know that drives stick has eaten while driving on multiple occasions. You dont have to have your hand on the shifter constantly.

OP I bought my first manual car in November, it became second nature about a month ago. you'll be fine. maybe get some practice time on a friend's car or a dealer base model.
You won't fully understand how to drive stick until you own one.

This.
Don't overthink it. Maybe learn the basic mechanics of how a transmission works but don't actually look up "techniques." It won't help. Just get in one and drive the thing.
>live by myself, not many friends know how to drive a stick
>have some irrational fear that I break my right arm or left leg or suffer some injury enough inhibit driving stick
is it just me

I half agree, only because of what it is.
My dad drove my first manual home, when I was 18 and it was a 05 Corolla in 2006. My second car, first car for HS was my gmas 91 tempo automatic.
