I was having a look at the Africa Twin last week and the panniers felt unbelievably flimsy, I was hoping for something more akin to the ones on the Crosstourer, even the standard VFRs have more rugged luggage. It's a bit much when Honda are probably going to charge the better part of a grand for them.

If you slightly missed the point of the AT you completely missed the point of the NC. It's unbelievably practical and develops that torque as soon as you start moving. the NC750 will happily sit at just under 100mph and still get better efficiency than the average motorcycle does at 70.

I'm aware of that, but they could still offer the same ride comfort on road without needing to be so heavy.
The NC line doesn't even have a suspension comparable to something like the XT 660. Theres just no excuse for things as they stand. You wouldn't have to sacrifice any fuel economy by giving the NC 700 a better rear shock, and a couple more inches of lift. As a matter of fact if it were lighter it would burn even less fuel and perform better all around.

They need to trim the fat.

NCs are strange, they're an odd mix of premium and budget. In my opinion, Honda put the money exactly where it needed to go for the sort of person who buys a bike with that sort of engine. I would also disagree that the ground clearance needs to be increased, the X series is only an adventure bike in terms of ergonomics and faring design, it's definitely not meant to be taken seriously off road, keeping the ground clearance low means the centre of gravity is also kept low.

Just got back from my night ride, first time riding in the wet with the pp3's and i must say they are terrible wet weather tyres, talk about sideways lol.
Anywho i went and took a peak at the coal power stations in south gippsland, this one is Loyang, was the only one i could get a good picture of because she bright.

It could be taken seriously though. Different front fork, different rear shock, all of a sudden its a totally different bike. Increasing the ride height 2 inches isn't radically changing the center of gravity, that engine's weight is still oriented way lower than most everything else on the market.
Just change that suspension and cut back some weight, it would be one of the best bikes on the market for its category.

Its quick enough, the power is all low end, and its geared right. Cycle world pulled 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, and thats with it weighing in at 474lbs. Hell, throw the 750 motor in with a lighter frame and it would stand above everything else.

It's an interesting concept. I don't have any specs on how much the engine of an NC weighs but I imagine it's a lot more than the equivalently powered dirt bike engine. Also, the CoG is only low because the engine is low, raise it up and you raise the CoG.

Adding two inches of height to the bike overall isn't altering much. Other bikes have a higher center of gravity proportional to their weight because the engine is oriented upright.

thats me on the KTM up front, and the guy with the CBR crash filming. he broke a few ribs and had a bunch of bruises but he was fine.

after the crash he sold the CBR600RR and got a Fireblade

Shit son are you still here? The CB250 is tons of fun, very cheap and probably the comfiest bike I ever rode. You can get a knee down if you're mad enough but it's not exactly a hektik toogay machine.

Also taking a shower and going on a date with this nerdy, shy, somewhat socially inept and midly qt chick today at 15:00. She's way too friendly even for a 6/10. Is touching your knee to the ground actually beneficial? i mean i stick my knee out but i like it being able to bend too much to actually touch it to the ground wouldnt hitting a pot hole or even a slight bump drill even with a knee slider?

the whole reasoning behind it is that you change the center of gravity, so basically it makes you able to ride through a corner faster, but with the same lean of the bike. thats beneficial because at some point fixed parts on the bike will touch the ground if you exceed a certain level of lean, and this would make you crash. also with most tires, you have a bigger contact patch with less lean.

the knee sliding is so you can tell how leaned you already are, kind of a lean indicator. thats why rainsliders for the track are a lot thicker than sliders for dry weather, since you can lean further without slipping when its dry.

but dude its fine, seriously, the car is plenty of fun and the handling is just amazing. the CoG is so low, its just an amazing car.
the engine revs extremely quickly and since the exhaust keeps rusting though, the sound is amazing.

i drove mine with 200 km/h once (down a hill, and indicated on tach) but i can drive it with 165 tach km/h on flat. i have never had a single problem with the car other than a little rust. and its just around 800-900 kilos (get the 3 door version)

Been lurking here for a good while now, but I usually hang out in /k/. Just became hasbike last month. Sourced a front fender and flush turn signals, both of which were broken/missing when I got it. Also just finished de-flaming the fairings (wtf was Kawasaki thinking with those decals?) and also replaced the front reflectors with marker lights that I need to finish wiring in.

Thinking the same thing. Was looking into the Hull->Rotterdam ferry but it's pretty expensive as they give you a cabin.

Going midweek->midweek is about £100 on the tunnel for a return. Roundabout that much on the Dover->calais ferry and same price for one-way on the Hull->Rotterdam one

Some heated kit can be wired direct into the battery on the bike. So you have a wire going from battery to near the handlebars and you plug into that when you get on the bike. I had heated grips on my last bike but I found my fingers would be freezing while my palms were hot and sweaty so wouldn't recommend them.
