You will find that it is fuck all difference, especially if you have valve check measurments/replaced shim measurements and receipts for the consumables you have used and can show the buyer you are knowledgeable about the bike and what you have done.

You can get a logbook stamped to look legit, its not hard. Costs a few bucks for a custom rubber stamp.

Wassup /dbt/?

I come to you with a question. I have a 2006 Kawasaki ER5 that takes a long time to warm up. How long you ask? Well, my commute is about 20 minutes of city traffic and after 15 minutes it will still turn off if I don't give it the slightest of gas nudges every now and then when I'm at a stop light. The bike performs well otherwise, the power is there.

Is this an issue with the carbs? Shall I clean them and see if it helps? What else could be the problem? The bike is reduced to 25kw, btw. Don't knwo if that makes a difference.

Peace out.

An RS125 will do no problem.
An r-125 might be okay for under 20 minutes, and so can probably a cbr125r, but something like a YBR125, CBF125, Grom, not really. Note that the bikes that can go on the freeway get almost 250 fuel economy as well

>getting ass blasted by bait

Why do you care?

>>13978097
There was discussion about this yesterday but all I can offer is anecdotal evidence. My friend was the first to buy a motorcycle out of our group. He bought a Ninja 250. I can say that it definitely did not feel safe on the highway because you would have to beat the shit out of it to do 90, so cruising with cars doing 70 was even a laborious task. Now take a 125. I have never ridden one but based on my experience with a 250...

Sometimes you need the extra power to get out of situations. The one that comes to mind is merging onto the highway with a short entrance ramp and seeing that a car is lined up in the right lane with you and could push you onto the shoulder with debris. With more CCs you can just crack the throttle and shoot off.
>>
>>13978103
I'm talking Melbourne, living in the west (poor area) and working in the CBD, involves crossing a huge bridge. Highway use can be minimized really but you know, just in case.

I currently have a scooter and can only really scoot along at 80kph, and am considering getting a motorcycle licence (i have a motorscooter licence, autos only) when i move to Melbourne.
>>
>>13978118
I don't think any highways in Victoria got over 110kph, all the ones around Melbs are 100kph i think
>>

I actually favor the CBR or the ZX6. I've seen too many gixxers and the R6 is a bit more uncomfy than a CBR. But I almost never see ZX6Rs so it would be cool to have something more "rare".

The bike barely manages to keep 130 km/h and the vibrations are probably strong enough to make you infertile.

Try out somethingn like a ninja 250. Those bikes are super nimble, compact, lots of fun and they have enough power to get on the highway.

Idk m8 pretty much with any supermoto your going to be able to throw around. The weight reduction (which isn't all that much anyway) gets shadowed by the increase in torque and speed of larger CC engines. My 450r weighs around 250 pounds if I'm not mistaken and It feels like a mountain bike.

Ride all of them and decide, what you most ride in? Streets/track? I know the CBR are more comfortable and oriented towards street, where R6 has peak power and loves to be on a track. Gixxxxer has the stunner/squid following and 636 is really sexy, especially the newer ones. 675R is also a sexy bike, but Europmaintncace is shittier.

I own a 675 and have owned 2 R6's.

The 675 is not as reliable as a jap bike, however, triumph is making strides to identify and correct issues. The major issues is the CPS, stator/rectifier, and 09-11 had oil cavitation issues under high sustained RPM.

The oil pump is an easy fix, the electronics are usually covered under recall.

Triumph is a quality build brand. If you take care of it there should be no issues. It would not be able to sustain the mechanical abuse a gsxr could.

Maintinace is more expensive than other brands depending where you are, on the west coast they are more popular and the dealers can be more competitive. On the east coast I was quoted at 1k for a fucking valve check which has to be done every 12k miles

I found a reputable dealer that is willing to do it for 280

Triumph is stigmatized for being unreliable. I genuinely feel that this is due to people being uncomfortable with new ideas and new ideas which may be objectively better than what is currently available. In another post I corrected someone who stated that these are not good for the track. In the AMA class these are the only bikes that are competitive with the R6s.

Bear in mind that I am not pursuading you to buy one. In fact I hope you dont. I like what triumph is doing and they are not a first sport bike. They are a rich old mans bike who actually knows how to ride. I am happy to see that hoodlums and black people do not buy these bikes yet.

Should the Dakar have rules that give penalty for mechanic doing work on the bike?
It would force manufacturers to build bikes capable of racing 10.000Km without maintenance, it would bring back some of the old rally-raid spirit.
And maybe the replica wouldn't cost so much and would actually be usable by the average bloke

Most 600cc bikes are supersports more at home on a race track than the street. Really peaky engine that makes no power in low revs then all the power comes on suddenly and tries to murder you. A liter bike would make a better starter bike than 600cc. The only thing worse is maybe a 250cc 2-stroke race bike.

Exception being things like the fz6r which is 600cc but a nice manageable street bike.

Ay what up kit kat.

Yeah tho in my experience french chicks are much better than English chicks. They're all fashionable and somewhat more refined with the whole "merci oui si vou plait" thing. Whatever that means.

Though maybe me living in a place where the worst of England goes to get shitfaced might skew that opinion a bit. Around here they say the summer doesn't start until the first drunk English person falls from a balcony and dies in Magaluf.
>>
>>13979731
Magaluf was the fucking shit oh my god. I forgot about how much fun I had there last summer. Talk about blackout central

"KTM a shit" is the "glocks are all hand grenades" of /dbt/- loosely based in fact, but only for a certain model year and time period and pretty much fixed at this point

Doesn't hurt as much at this point but I still can't turn my head far enough to warrant riding, nor the weight of the helmet. I guess I'll use today to give it a wash

Yeah right..

I figured as much as all my searches came up with noting for my year model in regards to shitty frames.

Although I'm still wondering why a 2011 model bike doesn't have an ignition lock and relies solely on a shitty steering lock to prevent theft.

No I'm not. As they were new discs but the PO didnt clean and grease the slide pins and one side seized up causing uneven pad wear and it chewed one side of the rotor out.

The rotor I took off can still be ground and it would be in spec. But I'm too impatient for that so I just bought a new rotor.

Dakar maintenance isn't all just servicing. You break things, need to adjust things, etc. Doing a race like that with no maintenance whatsoever would be almost impossible.

I've read somewhere that a very very large chunk of ktm is owned by an Indian company
>>
>>13980154
Bajaj Auto owns 48% of KTM, and the plant which produces their best selling bikes in the highest volume is in Chakan India.

They are a very Indian company.
>>
>>13980182
so is jag and land rover, but that made them both better companies.
>>
What are some good motorcycle base layers that keep you warm, are lightweight, and moisture wicking?

I need something to wear under my work clothes (slacks, dress shirt) during my commute that'll keep me warm. However, I also want those same base layers to not make me sweat like a pig while inside a building with A/C. I want to keep those layers on and not take them off, hence BASE layers.

Is this possible without breaking the bank?
>>
>>13980218
land rover cars still have some of the worst reliability ratings and im not too sure about jag
>>
>>13980228
Look for underwear designed for hunting. I got a thin pair of some synthetic fabric that is just enough to travel comfy in 0-10C with just kevlar jeans on top of it. There are shirts as well for upper body..
>>
>>13980243
Could you post a link?

0-10C would be fine, I have insulated waterproof overpants along with a WP jacket, which is also insulated so I should be comfy as fuck with the right base layers.
