Yeah read again, I said that carbs (on 4T engines I should have specified) aren't meant to work at any angle/orientation. That could be the something making your issue worse. Not saying it's the root cause cause you are right, they get wheelied a lot but it could make an issue with your carb worse.

>>
>>13852800
im sorry, it doesnt matter what you say, modern bikes are a lot better to ride than old bikes.
they handle better, the hold up to corrosion better, they are comfier, have better egronomics, they are more fuel efficient, and are generally a lot more reliable.
this is just fact, not conjecture.
i'm sorry that you can't afford to buy a modern motorcycle, but it doesn't mean you should talk complete nonsense to justify it.

If I'm on a world tour I want something that won't break.
Just because you like simplicity doesn't mean old bikes are made to last better.
>>
>>13852837
Enough of the carb v EFI bullshit.
Carbs are more serviceable and easier to repair at the cost of being harder to tune and quite finicky at times. While EFI can make engines more efficient/powerful they are a nightmare to service and diagnose (for the average person). Both systems have their place.

>>13852844
I think they trying to say that they are more serviceable to the average person due to all things being mechanical and not having to have a diagnostics tool to find out what the fuel system is doing. Though I think I'm giving them too much credit when in reality they're just a le wrong generation dope.
>>
>>13852868
>they are more serviceable to the average person
Let's be honest. The average person can't service even simple mechanical parts on their own. Most people take their vehicles to a shop to get their oil changed. Most of the people who service their own vehicles are likely to have a diagnostics device to figure things out on their own rather than taking it to a dealer. Maybe some systems are made to be inservicable at home and have proprietary computers, but that's a problem with the manufacturer being a greedy cunt more than modernization.
>>
>>13852885
Obviously I'm not talking about everyone, I meant more of the average gear head. Plus electronic diagnostic equipment is quite costly and less readily available than the couple wrenches and screwdrivers needed to fiddle with a carb.

Something has to be getting stuck.

Is there any slop on the float front to back? Perhaps with the angle it slides backwards and gets stuck?
Maybe when the float experiences the g force of liftoff it dips down rather far and the float bowl fills?

It really is a perplexing problem. I believe I've seen you post about it before and couldn't wrap my head around it then either.

It doesn't cut out from liftoff. It's usually like 4-10 seconds in that it starts cutting out.

The float mechanism seems to be working fine. It doesn't have any play or anything.
I've tried looking at it in water and it has to fill up higher to actually push in the floats when at steep wheelie-angle. The angle of the floats and the fuel make it so that the fuel doesn't push directly up on them (pic related). I think that's what is causing it, but I don't understand how it isn't a problem for every other bike with this carb.

To explain the pic. Black is carb body. Green is the floats. Blue is the fuel.

Curvy as fuck and generally no traffic. A little dangerous (few guard rails and basically no run-off on most of it), but pretty views. It runs between the Morenci Mine and Eagar/Springerville. I've run it a couple times in my Miata; the DR's range is too little to consider making that ride, especially with me moving shortly.

Legit question: who here actually washes their bike, and to what degree do you do so?

simple green, scrubby brush/tooth brush and a rag.
if i already have it apart for something else then ill clean under everything too.
>>
>>13853465
Since I have nice paint as soon as it gets dirty. And I wax it too. You just kind of know when it needs to be done.
>>
>>13853465
during the summer, once a month or so.
During the winter i try do it once a week, and the bike gets all over coating of ACF-50.
I always use muc-off, and usually just a bucket and sponge/brush/mitt.
If i'm feeling lazy i'll go to the jetwash, and jetwash it very carefully.
Jetwashing your bike can really fuck it up if you spray it in the wrong places.
>>
>>13853480
I've only ever washed my DR once, when it was apart right before I dropped the replacement motor into it. I kind of don't know when it needs to be done.

I take that back, one time a friend pressure washed my bike so he could work on it. kek

>>13853472
Looks like it was well done and with the gsxr front end and busa brakes prob handles way better than stock. The color kind of sucks but meh thats a minor gripe. Its got that cafe fag look but who cares. I vote non fag.
