RE: Turbo Troubles
Yeah, I can fix it, but it's messy as he'll and time consuming. Also, being the return line, it bolts to the bottom of the turbo making it rather difficult to get wrenches or sockets to. This time, though, I'm going to use some hi-temp sealant to keep the shit from leaking again. Imagine my horror when I checked my oil and found mere drops on the dipstick. Thank God for Mobil1.

baja designs lighting kit, works great.
It wasn't hard to install, I did the install when I was swapping frames so it was easy.

About a daily driver, it would probably do as well as any other bike like that, DRZ or WR etc, I've rode my bros WR450 and it felt pretty sloppy and unrefined in comparison, the suspension is def too soft for my tastes, and I'm only 130lbs.

When it gets warm out again, if you want sticky tires, get a set of RE-71s. They're goddamn fantastic. If you like to slip the car around, though, then they'll be a bit too sticky at the stock power level. They also give no fucks about rain. My cold weather tires are a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS; we'll see how they do in Iowa. I've had them almost three years now but without putting too many miles on 'em so they should be fine.

Also, I've got a 60cm head. The guy at the store made me check out XL's, but honestly I'm not sure I shouldn't be looking at just larges instead. The XL's were a bit too easy to get on and I could pull it down over my eyes if I yanked on the chin like in the pastebin videos (granted I didn't have the chinstrap done up though). I dont want to buy a L only to end up with constant headaches. So does the padding fit better with use, or will it take a year or more before the inside starts to wear down? Larges didn't feel uncomfortable, but I only had it on for like 30 seconds so eh.

they break in after a while, but really you should wear a helmet for about 15-20 minutes to really see if it's going to be comfortable. each manufacturer is different, too.

as for bikes, you should look at cruisers. i'm 6'3" with a 32" inseam and sat of a friend's Nija 300 and felt like i was having to tip-toe it

If the large wasn't uncomfortable it almost certainly isn't too small. It will break in and become looser pretty quick if you're wearing it often. If you can roll the helmet forward or back like you said then it's too big. Once it breaks in the effect will be even worse.

yes helmets definitely "bed" in a bit, if it's a little tight around the cheeks and stuff when you buy it don't worry it'll loosen up a bit, the last helmet I bought was uncomfortably tight on the cheek pads when I bought it and was perfectly snug after like 2-3 weeks.

Anyway you'll find a way, motards might be too much unless you're planning on stopping near curbs but you'll find something, there's plenty of lower bikes in the sea.

Well according to cycle-ergo, I should be able to flat foot a pre-2008 ninja, which is what I'm looking for anyways honestly. Most of the bikes (except for the tall as fuck supermotos) I could get on pretty easy, I just had to lean them once I was in the seat to flat foot. Most would be fine if its possible to lower it an inch or half an inch or something.

They were a lot comfier to sit on than I expected. I was thinking it was going to be like a cross between having a bicycle seat crammed up my ass, and an old 80's Polaris Sybian that my grandad tried to pass off as a 4wheeler.

As for the helmet thing, it's usually a good idea to just go a size under if you're in between so you don't have the wind buffeting your helmet around. Although I warn you you may have some sensitive spots on your head if you have your helmet on too long at a time.

There's a big project that's been going on for about fifty(!) years to keep parts of Alamogordo from washing away when we get intense rain. Between the Army Corps of Engineers and the Committee of Fifty ("Shifty Fifty," who are the real roadblock here), it's taking forever to get done. Parts of it are pretty neat, but I'm not going to have time to try to ride down the good sections before I leave.

This area has a lot of good riding. CC's enjoying the hell out of the Cruces area; the more open desert riding suits him just fine. There's supposed to be a good desert riding area south of Alamogordo on the way to El Paso, but I've not been out there. I prefer to go up into the mountains here. Really wish I bought the bike a year or more ago to really explore with. All sorts of trails and neat views out here to find.

This was taken on NM506 aka Owen Prather Highway. It's certainly not a highway, but still some neat stuff out there.
