a few days ago i was riding a Kawasaki Z1000R (pic related) and it was backfiring like crazy, just cruising and let off the throttle and it would bang bang pretty loud. even at low revs and low speeds. if you hit the gas and let off it sounded like a cannon.

it also was only getting up to 9000rpm - well short of the 13000rpm limit on the dash.

could the backfire and limiter be a poor tune, or some sort of limp mode the ecu employs? or is that much backfire normal and unrelated to the redline?

Then spray with maxima chain wax but I think that I might not even need to do that since the kerosene is supposed to lube as well.

no but I like it- it's light and fast, it's sonic enough for my old-fuck standards anyway. I find it really comfy except for 80+ on the high plains- then I really want a fairing.

Still longest ride was a little over an hour most of my ~800 mi are local which means 30-40min. If I was regularly going to be doing two hour+ rides I'd probably get a different bike.

Oh and it's shit on gravel/dirt roads although I did pretend to be adventure bike today on my way home.
