Hey, figured I'd re-ask my question in the new thread. I bought my first helmet but I think I fucked up. I was trying it out in the store for comfort but never thought of pressing down on my crown until trying it at home.

Pretty much if I press down on my crown with my hand, I feel pressure at a point on my crown. I don't feel anything when just wearing it for a while, and it's actually pretty comfy, but I feel like if I land there or something it would really fuck my shit up, I'm guessing this isn't normal. It's a Shoei Qwest.

It's not the padding I'm feeling, it's the hard foam underneath. Like if you were to take your finger and compress the crown padding with your finger, you can feel the hard foam.

My head doesn't do that when just resting in the helmet, but it does if I press down on my crown. It's like I've got a bump or ridge that is raised on my head that will press past the padding at the top.

Every second sentence is about how the MT-09 is so great and everything else is shit. Every other sentence is about how great triples are. Occasionally they'll remind you that the Daytona 675R is a piece of shit though. Literally every one of them has said the same shit.

Dealers here are going crazy over that and street triples at the moment. Don't get why he even tried on me, I told him I was after a sport bike and wasn't interested in a naked the moment he mentioned it to me.

>>13836754
Build quality on my R1 feels fantastic, albeit I've never owned any other Yamahas. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if the YZF stuff was built really well compared to the rest of their lineup. I've always had Hondas until now.

I'm debating getting an R6 or 675R next year (for the track). I want an RS250, RGV250, or KR-1S later but I'm relearning to do a lot of things because of the brain hemorrhage. Found out I can't ride twisties fast at all anymore.

I mainly want an R6 since it's similar to what I'm riding now (screamer R1). Also can get a fly-by-wire model for a reasonable price, so it'd be nice and easy to tune.

675R has that amazing sound coming from the balance shaft though.

Like I said before, as long as you love what you ride who cares? I always look back at my bike anytime I'm walking off after I've parked. That's what really matters. Doesn't matter if it's an R1 or a CT110.

>1290SDR
Wouldn't have gotten it myself, but like I said, who cares? If you like it then awesome. It's probably nicer to ride around town than my R1 haha.

>MT-09 have said its mediocre nothing really special about it
Nothing about it really jumped out from the spec sheet to me. I'm not interested in that style of bike at all though. Was just a bit rich that someone with a Learner-plate and a GS500 would call an R1 a piece of shit.

Did you get it new? If so that's awesome either way. I really want to buy something like an 848 EVO one day to see what a twin is like. Only ever owned i4s.

>orange frame
Never been a KTM fan, but damn I love orange. Getting my R1 redone in orange with black accents next year (seperate fairings). I bet it sounds fucking awesome too.

>also how the fuck did you get such an old R1 and it not be molested. it looks bone stock.
It is completely stock, was luck really. I was actually looking for a 2007 CBR1000RR. Opened a site that is notorious for being overpriced as a joke and saw that R1 for sale for a good price with a full service history. Checked and it was literally two streets from my house. Called the guy up, walked over and bought it.

When I checked the service manual it was handled by a place where a mate works. He was the designated mechanic for the bike. Knows his shit, so the bike was definitely in good hands too.

>Christmas tree and not even a slip on
Christmas tree?

All the exhaust is stock. The guy was the only owner and he didn't even deleted the cat. I'm doing the Y-Pipe and cans when I get around to it, but it's mainly to address the heat. I plan to add a GIPro X and a Translogic as well.

Ordered a tinted (not blacked out) windshield, some good quality flush mount indicators, and a tail-tidy as well. Just gotta find some nice bright indicators for the rear. Want to get braided lines for the front and rear as well.

Plan to keep all the stock parts around though.

>How many miles are on it
Just over 16,000km, so around 10,000 miles. Pretty great for a 2007.
>>
>>13836901

I'm moving away from a great riding area after having my DR650 for a month and a half, and away from CC81PT. He and his wife have been great people, and he's taught me a lot about how to install and fix a few things proper-like, and also how to solder. He's also brought me through some terrain I've not been ready for several times, though the bike and I have gotten through OK. My temper has got the best of me a couple times, but he's been cool as fuck about it all. Gonna miss 'em.

Also, moving is a God damned pain in the ass, and I don't relish packing up my garage since it's a hellhole because I get frustrated with projects and just let the tools lay out wherever. Also, spiders.

On the plus side, these last three years have been far better to me than the preceding four. I contemplated offing myself a couple of times, but there were good people who relied on my skills and knowledge so I didn't.

yeah. wasn't what i was going for. i originally was gonna buy a demo bike. i called ahead and had them hold it but the guy i called was out at breakfast and they sold it before he came into work. so he felt bad haven't me drive 6 hours for a bike they sold. so he brought out the paper work from KTM showed me the cost of the bike for them and said he would sell it to me for that much. also tossed in some extra stuff. it was about $1000 then i wanted to spend but im over it now.

>> Only ever owned i4s.
yeah i have owned an i4 and a thumper my dad has a i3 that i steal whenever one of my bikes is out of commission. i have ridden friends V-twin cruisers before but not a performance V-twin before this. its a completely different feeling then the other bikes i have ridden. massive amounts of torque, front wheel jumps up with ease for like the 1st 2 months it scared the crap out of me when it would do it. now im kind of use to it.

That's pretty cool. I haven't had the money to buy a bike new, but I'll do it one day. Glad it worked out well for you, the dealerships around here can be pretty scummy.

I rode my Dad's '84 FXSB before, ridiculous amount of torque. It's like riding a warhead. I almost bought a VTR1000 as well, but the fuel economy really put me off. It would've been cheaper to drive my car...

I plan to grab a track bike next year. Will either be an 06/07 R1, a 675R, or (if I can find one) some sort of sports bike twin. Like I said, would love an 848, but they're somewhat pricey here still. Not really the best choice for what I want either.

Two-stroke sports bike will be after that. Just want to get my riding back in check again before I go down that road.

>it's another term for the massive stock license plate mount
Oh gotcha. Yeah I ordered a tail tidy already, but it was cool actually getting a dead stock R1. The guy didn't seem to ride it much. The calipers were full of air, but after a bleed everything works perfectly.

I've almost finished fixing the engine on the MC22 as well. Just gotta clean the carbs out and it should be fine. Then the hunt for a donor bike begins. Hoping to get it fixed by June next year. Younger brother will be old enough to get his license.

Reliable, comfortable, no thrills, super easy to manoeuvre. Absolute tank.
I'm yet to reach its full potential.
Bored with it though. The power is so linear, only near the end of the first and second gear do I feel any adrenaline rushing torque.

I want a harley.

The bandit is also not waterproof, and I'm yet to fix that. One of the cylinders stops firing when a lot of rain hits it. Ht leads I think.

The bandit is great and I can't fault it, but I'm too much of a faggot to ride something sensible.

I like it but I don't. It'd hard to explain.

It was a barn-find in essence. Old guy bought it new, scared the shit out of himself and let it sit in a shed for twenty years. Mate bought off him for $1500 and rides it around on Sundays in Summer.

He's trying to keep the miles down now.
>>
I'm bikefag from UK and staying in Thailand and you've never seen shitriding like it. Second highest road deaths in the world here. Anyone as young as 12 can ride a sub 200cc. They ride with up to 5 people on their shitbox yamaha scooters with no helmets nothing. 1st hour in the country two had collided in the middle of the road. The hire companies will lend anyone at sub 200cc for about 3-4£ (~6$) a day. I rode one in Phuket for about 20mins and bottled it because the roads are so shitty. The hire companies will also lend you a super bike for £50 a day. They won't check your license or anything either. If you crash it and even if it's not your fault they'll make it your fault and demand you pay in cash for the bike immediately or you're in big trouble.

Well the cylinder stops working when it rains on the engine. Water is getting in somewhere where it shouldn't. Not a model fault, just a fault with my bike.

I live the look too

It makes me think of the real human bean soundtrack.

>handling
I haven't ridden much of big bikes like this. 50s and 125s until this one.
I'm still getting used to it but I trust it very much. Especially in the dry. Scraped my peg today and it scared/excited me. As long as I'm not hektik and have smooth throttle on entry, corner and exit, it's rather exciting.
Long distances it's great. Tank range is about 150 miles, and thats me riding aggressively. Seat is wide, and comfortable for around 2 hours before I really need to rest.
I'd like the back lower so I'm not sliding onto the tank so much. I would like higher bars too. I don't enjoy that slight lean forward, although it definitely isn't extreme.

Get this now and accept it: you will always want something else. You will be happy with your choice but still you will long for other styles and bikes.

My perfect combo would be the bandit and an 883 / 1200 sportster.

You strike me as a hipster like me, so I suggest getting a cruiser or an old sports tourer something that has some 'character' and story. (read as: is shit and rattles)

You have been riding pretty old examples of bikes though, and o think it will be a pleasant change for you to get a nice smooth inline four. Just make sure it's torquay. Because oterwise you'll be bored quick. No one that is of right mind rides at 100+ for a long time because wind buffer and shit is too strong to bother.

I usually keep it at 80 miles and it's a real nice ride at 7k rpm.

I can't into big bikes because restriction anyway. I'm not riding the bandit with a restrictor though.

Hey /o/, i've got a question for you. I'm in tha market for a new bike, (r6) and this will be my first time buying a vehicle brand new off the lot. My question is how does msrp work? On Yamaha's website the msrp for a new r6 is $10,990, but at the actual dealer the tag is $12,999. Would it be absurd for me to go in and ask for msrp, or even below it?
>>
>>13837458
Manufacturers sale recommended price.
No it wouldn't be ridiculous at all.
In fact that's a good leverage to get that price down.
Or get them to throw in 2ks worth of extras.
>>
>>13837463
i figured, so how should i bring it up without offending them? i don't want to name a price that's too low, what would be a good starting point? I was thinking something along the lines of "well i'd like to start out at the msrp that yamaha has on their website."

why aren't there more rotary bikes?
>>

Just say you're interested in it and you don't want to pay over the msrp.

It's off season, if they don't want to sell t like that thank them or ask what the best price they can do for you is.
Maybe ask if they will be able to give you the extra money you're paying in extras such as a service plan, or something else.

It's off season, that will help your leverage too.

Remember that they are selling to you and don't feel pressured.
Have fun with it and be a human about it

Ask for OTD(out the door) price hopefully the dealer will quote your a fair price.

Does using the rear brake to stabilise when hitting gravel in corners work? I normally just make sure not to upset the bike by keeping the throttle steady and not making big steering adjustments.

Dragging the rear brake allows you to rev the engine higher. That helps you stay up. Try doing some parking lot figure of 8s whilst dragging the rear .

Looks to me like Alps won again. Why keep the poll open now? Are you mad your favourite location wasn't chosen?
Also which guy from SEM3000 are you anyway?
Also send out emails to people that replied.
>>
>>13837551
It can help smooth out power delivery if there is any change in throttle input.
>>
>>13837598
The red votes aren't valid, so it's a 50/50.
I'm gonna leave the poll open for another week.

Jesus Christ I don't understand it.
I mean, I was literally just as bad when I was 17 / 18 but at some point it just "clicked" and I turned my shit around. Then again if it was so easy I guess there wouldn't be that many aspies around.
Is it because most kids in the past 20 or so years have been raised with too much lenience, so they can't motivate themselves / pull their shit together and stick the annoying / hard shit of life out like getting up to work every day or manning up and talking to fellow human beans?

>>13837604
Why are they not valid? Because you don't want to go to the Alps? I doubt many more people will change their minds / reply to the poll even if you leave it open another week.

Hey /o/, I'm a complete noob and I recently purchased an '08 Ninja 250 to practice on and get into riding but after my last ride I've been hearing something that sounds like the rear brake is engaged and sliding along. I hear a the sound of metal scraping (not in a harsh way) but to the point where I can tell something's touching back there and causing it to rub, I don't want to fuck up my bike! Do you guys have any idea what the problem could be?

dude the mt-09 is the biggest meme bike of the moment and when you ride one you just do. not. understand. whyyy

they are not that good, they are just overhyped fucking shit.

Seriously go to the dealers and take one for a test ride so you can laugh your arse off when these know nothing fuckheads run their mouth again.

The mt-09 has a decent motor but literally everything else when I rode it was garbage.

Even then, the motor is underwhelming, it's bottom end feels like a literbike but it just runs out of puff and doesn't keep going like a literbike so it's actually just disappointing to rev out.

Same thing happens with LAMS bikes and bloody mt-07 owners, they think they've got some kind of premium fucking rocketship and it blows my mind, they're cheap shit for the masses.
