>run out of gas
>walk to mazda dealer ask if they have jerry can i can borrow for 15-20 mins to get gas
>guy says they have one but i can't use it

i know it was dumb to run out of gas but i come from the bush where we leave the keys in the truck in case someone needs gas or a battery charge or EVEN THE WHOLE FUCKING TRUCK in a pinch .. was this guy being a dick or am i not allowed to be mad?

i feel mad

madder than if he had said "oh sorry we don't have one"

the closest gas station withing walking distance was the tiny kind with a window where you pay the guy and i was worried they wouldn't have one

mechanics have probably all been burned by having tools stolen before too, so less likely to lend.

Here's what I do: When I ride or drive, I concentrate on keeping my speed just-so, my throttle movements smooth and controlled, my steering inputs well-moderated. If I'm not at or above 7/10ths, I'll devote a little time to admiring the natural beauty around me. It helps that I have mountains to go run around in.

Go on a group ride with people who have similar bikes on twisties. Realistically bikes aren't going to show major discrepancies in handling on the street, so you can find the limits more easily. Also, if it slides out, relax your arms. 99.9% of the time, the bike will correct itself.

That's not what I meant. It's a neck brace designed to avoid spinal injuries relating to the neck area.

I'm beginning to think it's not necessary. After all, motogp riders do not use them. I think I will be investing in a back protector soon though.

So /dbt/ I come to you in desperation

I've not seen my bike in 4 weeks now, it's been stuck in garage with issues that seem to be irreparable. Basically the mechanics I've brought it to haven't been able to figure wtf is wrong with it.

Main jist: SV650s, 2004, Difficult to start in cold conditions. Takes like 4-5 attempts to start it up, but once it's warmed up is relatively okay. Took it to garage due to jerky nature when riding it; autumn began to set in and it only seems to have gotten worse so I called up my garage.

He's checked it over several times and is at a loss. He's had other guys look at it to see potential issues. All to no avail. Top of the engine is perfectly fine, sparking, fueling, connections all seem A-OK. But he doesn't want to delve into the lower parts of the engine without good reason or a clue over what to look for.

Now I do realise this guy is a professional who does this for a living, but wtf could possibly stump all these people? Any ideas?

Sorry for the long-ass post but I'm getting desperate. I haven't seen my beautiful mechanical horse since the start of October.

Seems like a major annoyance / reduced visibility through reduced head movement for a very minor increase in survivablility in a crash big enough that a neck brace will matter.

For motocross, where your head can dig into the ground and you're jumping I could see wearing one, though, and a lot of people do.

SV guy here, this is exactly why I stopped going to my usual dealership that is local to me and went extra distance to this guy. They replaced the battery, 'adjusted' the TPS and gave me it back. It was still exactly the same. And it was only through them that this issue seemed to have cropped up from.

>>13835386
I believe there's been a newer sensor installed due to the old one being at its limit or some such.

>>13835380
I was wondering myself if it could be a coolant problem. I had a leaky coolant pipe before that was replaced (surprise surprise by the dealership I used to go to) which seems to have been incorrectly installed and still leaking an extremely minimal amount. I would assume the guy I go to now though has remedied that.

My only issue with it being electrical is that it's intermittent; only when cold thing. That and it's sparking fine.

Thanks for your time guys, I appreciate any input.

Just because they don't use them doesn't mean they suck. Dale Earnhardt didn't wear a HANS and it wasn't mandatory and now he's kill. Then fagcar mandated it.

Also, some have inflating suits to protect that area. Not sure if it protects the neck tho
>>
>>13835449
>only when cold thing
thats why i suggested the coolant sensor and valves. if the computer is misreading the temp it may be fueling it as if it were already warm.
a bad o2 sensor cal cause fueling issues, but it -should- start in limp mode for a little before it acted weird.
how long does it do it? a minute or two or until there is some proper heat in it?

This sounds most logical, I'll see if I can question him on this and see where it goes.

Basically I don't know anymore about time lengths, it's been 4 weeks since I had it in my drive. But when I had it, it needed a good twist to start up and would take some babying of the throttle to ensure it didn't die out. According to the mechanic though it takes a few attempts to start up now.

Again, thank you. Also not my bike but I want these fairings.

Guys.

Guys.

I'm going to bed.

In one hour Fallout 4 unlocks.

But I'm going to bed.

Because I have to get up early.

I have to get up early and put 11 layers on so I can ride to my doctors appointment. I could stay up and play and get in my warm cozy cager half asleep tomorrow. I could go in sweatpants. But I'm not.

I'm going to delay playing Fallout4 for 24 hours so I can ride my motorcycle in freezing weather.

Are you proud of me yet /dbt/?

Been riding with these for the last month or two and they're awesome. My hands never sweat and they're comfortable so far, all the way down into the 30's, even on the highway. Can't say enough good about them.

Question, would wearing a dual-sport helmet at highway speeds lead to as much strain on the neck as I'd think it would?

>>13836072
not unless you like stargazing while riding.
if you keep your head fairly level the visor is pretty negligible at highway speeds

he takes his foot off the peg, puts it somewhere on marcs bike near the handlebar, marcs bike goes down like a rock, rossis foot ends out a good 20 cm behind his peg and HRC claim they have telemetry data to prove the brake lever got spiked.

The facts are all there to be interpreted in anyway you like. I'm not gonna pretend I 100% know that's the case because it really riles up the natives but some people suggest it's not a possibility whatsoever which I find hilariously deluded.

Dunno man. Honda are obviously pretty adamant that Rossi kicked him and backed it up with their telemetry data. Yamaha went all "we don't believe Rossi 'kicked' him. Stop using that term."

Fucking righto, maybe he didn't "kick" him, but he forced Marquez wide and caused the crash. Does that mean there was no fault on Marquez' side? No. He's still a cunt. But Rossi stooped real low to get to the brat.

No one wins. Except Pedrosa. What a top bloke.

yeah i dont know about how i feel about the things. feels dumb from both ends. the only thing that really pisses me off about it is all the spam on facebook.

so Marc was bumping him and shit. not cool but rossi use to do that shit all the time too.

should marc bee riding that agressive? no
should rossi have kicked him cause of it? no

while watching the video its pretty obvious rossi shoves/kicks him im sure if he did hit his lever he didn't mean too and if he didn't hit his lever he still pushed up out.

rossi use to act like just as much of a cunt, ask casey stoner.,

and i think stoner was right on the subject. if anyone else had done it that would have been massively fined. rossi got a slap on the wrists.

I wrestled back in high school, this notion that the sun visor acts as a huge sail and will strain your back is quite quaint to me.

It really depends on your helmet and visor. The older ones that don't have holes in them, yeah they'll catch the wind and mess with your head.

At speeds of 70+ when I feel obligated to turn my whole torso and take my attention off the road, I just grab my helmet with a free hand and hold it still while I look behind me to see if that driver looks as stupid as he drives.
>>
Hey guys, I bought my first helmet but I think I fucked up. I was trying it out in the store for comfort but never thought of pressing down on my crown until trying it at home.

Pretty much if I press down on my crown with my hand, I feel pressure at a point on my crown. I don't feel anything when just wearing it for a while, and it's actually pretty comfy, but I feel like if I land there or something it would really fuck my shit up, I'm guessing this isn't normal. It's a Shoei Qwest.

>so Marc was bumping him and shit

actually they never made contact until rossi ran him wide, it was incredibly (some would suggest overly aggressive, they're probably right) but there was no contact.

I mean what did rossi expect after calling him out in the media for supposedly "helping lorenzo" in a race where marquez came first...and rossi was 4th.

Did you see some of the stupid shit he was saying in the media, like questioning if "marc actually has posters of him on his wall at home at all" etc.

did he think after starting all this shit marc was just gonna let rossi pass him and that's it?

He brought it on himself, marc might be a tiny bit implicit. But if he is it's 15% marc 85% rossi.

Unfortunately 85% is also the percentage of motoGP fans who root for him so they can beat off into their echo chamber with inane bullshit and get positive reinforcement for it.

I'm not a lorenzo dude in any capacity but I'm glad he won it, raced like a prince all year.

i hate that people think that there is some kind of hidden spain alliance.

a lot people must have forgot lorenzo use to openly hate marquez's guts for when he bumped him back in 2013

for months any time marquez got around him lorenzo would shake his head, point and tell him to go away or fuck off

i honestly doubt lorenzo would work with him on anything.

The padding will wear in over time. Don't worry too much about it. The whole point of the helmet and padding is to bear the brunt of the force and, most importantly, help decelerate your nugget more gradually so your brain scrambles less.

That feel when you get back from a weekend blast and check your oil to see this
>>
>>13836304
Well it's not the padding I'm feeling, it's the hard foam underneath. Like if you were to take your finger and compress the crown padding with your finger, you can feel the hard foam right?

My head doesn't do that when just resting in the helmet, but it does if I press down on my crown. It's like I've got a bump or ridge that is raised on my head that will press past the padding at the top.
