Ford has no mass production true sports car to compete with the Corvette. Sure, they occasionally have a Ford GT, but you can't say it's meant to compete with the Corvette and keep a straight face. No limited run, hugely expensive car will ever compete with the kind of volume Chevrolet cranks out.

So here's my idea: PROPERLY bring back the Thunderbird brand as a true sports car. Basically, bring the t-bird back to its historical roots as a two seat sports car, but this time instead of making a shitty retro baby-boomer-mobile like Ford did in 2002, make something special and position it to directly compete with the Corvette.

I got an FD which you'd think would mean parts are pretty rare and expensive compared to a lot of Japanese stuff.

But back when I got it and I saw what OEM parts for a 5 year old Neon cost since a friend had an SRT4, holy fucking shit.

I guessed that's their business model. Make cars where everything breaks and make replacement parts cost 3-5 as much as Japanese OEM stuff.

I'm down in the Seattle area, but I'll think about it. I imagine it'll be a while though.
Ford accepted the order, and it's scheduled to be pushed to the factory in January. I imagine the VIN will be born in February and I'll take delivery in March.
I've also been mildly interested in the washington /o/ meetup. The guy with the Crown Vic seems pretty cool.
