bedroom pentatonics/10

Nothing wrong with that, all depends on the context I guess. I find bedroom blues are only really pleasing to the person playing it.
>>
>>75103619
just that? with no taste?
what you suggest to play like if i want it to be pleasing to more people than myself
>>
>>75103651
Well, isn't that the main cause for people selling out, no longer writing music they like?

I guarantee you there's people out there who dig bedroom blues. Just probably not alot of people on this site.

What i strongly strongly STRONGLY suggest you do. Is write what YOU would want to hear. That's one of my huge main reasons I love being a musician. When I want to hear something and I can't find anyone else who's done it, I just make it myself. I personally play classical music and folk banjoey fingerpicking, because that's what I like, I'd say its universally pleasant but it'd be a stretch to say the majority of people really really like that type of music

I got this bad boy a week ago, but I'm a bit finicky about putting my distortion and fuzz in front of the Big English Muffin' in my chain. Would it be bad for the tubes in the pedal if I do this?
>>
>>75103754
Just figure it out by ear. Strumming patterns aren't that hard to pickup by ear
>>
>>75105481
1. Create catchy riff
2. Send that sucker through a gauntlet of pedals
>>
I've been playing through Bias FX recently and it sounds great through my headphones, but my cheap speakers can't handle the frequencies when I want to go loud and they start hissing and fizzing.

Two options:

1. get a pair of cheap studio monitors for around £100 which will probably be able to handle the frequencies

2. spend a bit more and get a used low wattage tube combo like a Vox AC4 for around £160

I looked into solid state and modeling combos but I don't think they would offer me anything that I can't get with Bias FX.
>>
>>75109716
What is the output like on your other pedals?
>>
>>75103766
Not everything is in sheet form
>>
>>75110139
One is a big bass muff, but the other is a hand made pedal that definitely gets super loud. Would it be possible to do it if I kept the volume low. I just want to see if this will give me a nicer tone if I had more to drive the tubes.

For one, they'd offer you sound that doesn't hiss or fizz. Tube amps are nice, but if you don't have the budget, solid state is fine. I've been playing on solid state for like 7 years. There's no shame in it

What? Is "bloom" a word that means something specific to humbucker players? I've honestly never heard another pickup replicate the same kind of sound.

So i just bought a Truetone Onespot combo pack to power up my gig setup (a homemade OCD/Dist+ combo, a polytune 2 and an Ibanez ES2) and today when I was testing it I felt a slight electric tingle on my arm while it was connected. I tested it with each pedal separately, and only the guitar without pedals removed the sensation. I stopped doing anything else cuz I know electric shock is a real issue, but I'm not sure how really dangerous this could be, or what could be causing it.
Someone has had any similar experience?
>>
>>75124142
Check the grounding on your guitar. I also figured out a shock I had been getting sometimes was from static electricity building up on an article of clothing I wore when I was strumming furiously, which would then jump to the guitar and shock me.
>>
>>75124421
It could be the guitar, it's kind of old and as it's my backup rig it has seen better days. I'm going to check tomorrow with my other guitar. If the tingling persists, what else could it be?
>>
>>75124463
As far as I know it pretty much has to be a grounding issue or you're having a minor heart attack.

I just want to say this:
Just because something is made in China, it doesn't mean the build quality isn't good. China is a big country and there are plenty of factories there, and some of them are legitimately great.

I bought a VoxAC15c1, it's an amp that is made in a factory in China. the build quality is pretty much flawless and the amp sounds beautiful.

>>

Brah, i really didn't give a fuck about that "duel". if you saw my posts in the thread it happened you would have known this.

People kept asking for it, so i gave an half-assed solo in one take. my guitar volume was too low in the recording but i was like, who cares, it's a dumb thing to do aniway.

Brah, i never claimed i'm better than samuel at guitar solos or that i'm a better technical player. and i didn't give a fuck about that duel, i knew what the result of it is going to be when i made my half-assed solo.

I really hate comparing myself with samuel, because i don't like comparing myself with a retarded asshole, but the only thing i ever said was that i'm a much better composer than him. which is objectively true considering that at the time he never composed a single original guitar piece his entire life while i had plenty of them.

Before the so called "Duel" happened, i challenged samuel to compose a guitar piece and show me what he made, and he decided to pussy out and show nothing. but i guess it doesn't count as my victory because he decided to not participate
>>
>>75124828
Stupid people like you is a part of why i stopped posting. it wasn't just Samuel.

The fact i decided to share an half-assed guitar solo that was made in one take with my volume being too low doesn't mean i gave any weight to that "duel". i genuinely did it on a whim.

But of course, you are going to dismiss this post because you already made up your mind

Yuh

well it depends, if your CIJ JM has a 7.25" radius neck you can just use a Mustang bridge

The biggest issue with the offset bridge is that it rattles a lot, and it sinks down in the body after a while, and the strings pop out of their position on the saddle, the Mustang bridge solves all that except the sinking thing, but you can just buy some of the nylon bushings that Staytrem sticks on their bridges in the parts of hardware stores that have all those little bins on shelves that have all sorts of screws and bushing and shit in them

I've had a Staytrem, Fender made Staytrem designed (the kind they stick on Marr Jags and Troy Van Lueewen JMs) Mustangs and a Mastery. The Staytrem/Staytrem designed was easily the best. I still have a Mastery and desu its pretty disappointing. It STILL RATTLES and it just way over engineered/machined...its needlessly over complex. Staytrem did everything the bridge should do.

I haven't had a staytrem but I do have a mastery. Mine does not rattle at all, I'm not even sure what would cause that. It goes without saying that the mastery is way overpriced and overengineered but it does have advantages that some of the others don't.

I never liked that the stock bridges move back and forth a small amount when you use the trem. The mastery doesn't move nearly as much which I like. I can adjust individual string height more on the mastery which is good for me since I like to have every string at a different height (not just the straight 9.5 radius or whatever the guitar is at). Only other real benefit (or detriment depending on taste) of the mastery is that it makes the strings behind the bridge resonate like crazy. I LOVE that.

That said, most people should just get a staytrem. Even though the mastery is perfect for my needs, it's just so expensive.

A friend of mine told me it would be better to start learning music with a new instrument, now that I developed bad habits by playing guitar just reading tabs. Like, I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm doing it, get it? I don't even know notes names, how to tune my guitar by ear, stuff like that.
>>75131479
Read above.
>>

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA7tPDEuUPU
>>
>>75131579
Start tuning your guitar by ear and learn the names of the pitches on the fretboard, relating them to notation.

Done and done.
>>
>>75131596
Will it help me to compose my own shit eventually? I can't create new stuff to save my life, but give me a tab of anything and I can play it nearly flawlessly if you give me enough time. I'm addicted to those numbers, man, I'm in really bad shape.
>>
>>75131579
I think that's a bad idea, you are already making music on the guitar, you just need to understand the theory behind it, learning a new instrument won't magically give you a head start, in fact it will be harder as you don't have the motor skills to play it. Theory is "instrumentless", you can learn it with a piece of paper and a pen and then you apply it to your instrument. Having said all that, I recommend learning a new instrument, but not for learning theory, but just broadening your musical knowledge, you see things from different perspective, especially if you play the instruments in a band,
>>
>>75131676
You don't need notation OR tabs to write. I think you're conflating the following skills:

Reading music
Composing music
Tuning by ear
Music theory

I suspect that you're confusing them simply because you aren't that great with them yet, and assume that your deficiencies are somehow related.
>>
>>75130049
This. I don't think I've ever heard the word "dainty" used to describe Teles before; the bridge pickups sound growly and aggressive, and the neck pickups sound mellow, but they handle dirt very well. Tons of "heavy" bands have used Teles extensively. Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Dinosaur Jr., even Kurt Cobain was playing one towards the end of his life, despite demanding humbuckers in all of his other guitars.

>Most I've picked up were set up wrong.
Holy shit, this. It seems like most people fall for the "Teles are only good at twang" meme and try to use them for that, but don't set the bridge pickup high enough, so it sounds too thin. Most people regard the standard neck pickup as irrelevant, so they never do anything with it and think it sounds weak and muddy.

Telecasters are probably the most versatile guitars out there in their stock configuration, you just have to know what you're doing.

>>
>>75131995
It's fine to do anything right now. Just figure out what you're bad at (you've already done this) and improve on it.

Seriously, start tuning your guitar by ear today. And read up on music notation while you learn the notes on the fretboard.

Godspeed, Anon.
>>
>>75131993
thank you very much friend :)
>>
>>75131995
I think so, you'll only get better this way, you have nothing to lose. One more thing, I really don't think tuning by ears is anything more than a party trick, it's useful but it's absolutely not vital for good playing, and that's coming from someone who can tune by ears, before anybody acuses me of not knowing what I'm talking about.

It was $3k, which is a lot of money, but this thing is pretty cheap to own. Guy before me had it for 18 months and sold it for $200 less than he paid. I'm the 4th owner, I think. It's one of the American made ones from a few years ago and people have just been punting it around since then.

And why do you think that is, dumbass?

Seriously though, how are the YouTube videos you've been recording in your parents McHouse™ going? Got your Axe-Fx II to complete your walking meme status yet?

Trying to make some oriental sounding stuff. Tell me how i'm doing

Even if I could afford a guitar like that I'd be too paranoid about scratching or dinging it to play it.

Because it's all a scam. Some sort of mass mind control through prog metal by swedecucks

Dude I bought it from has 4 Strandbergs. Guess he decided 3 was enough. They've been pumping these things out with increasing speed for years and there's all of like 12 for sale in Reverb at any given moment

...I do have an Axe Fx but I don't have gauged earrings, so I'm not cool enough to make youtube videos.

This is like when Luke told Vader he was a Jedi, only replace "Luke" and "Vader" with "stale" and "meme" and you're totally there.

The fact that you're memed up to your eyeballs isn't really an opinion, dipshit.

Or are you so unself-aware that you forgot you posted a $3000 green Mememachine™ twice ITT? The Al Gore Reddit reaction image is just the icing on the gay memecake your wife's son just licked the icing off of. Hilariously gross in every way.

sounds cool and kinda oriental-ish
thats a virtual guitar though
>>
>>75136168
nah, that's me. Just put a highpass filter 150 hz and a tiny bit of reverb.

A good mic doesn't hurt either. Wait, can you not hear the poor intonation and buzz at some points?

I'm open to the consideration that I'd be memeing if I used said equipment, along with gauged earrings and a drum VST, to start a bedroom djent band with webcam videos of me doing playthroughs.

I'm pretty comfortable where I am now just being like half way to that. I don't really feel like doing any of the other stuff and I don't think I ever will. So, eh, whatever. I'm content

Enjoy your mexistrat and your e minor pentatonic or whatever the fuck it is you do

let the pops resonate more. You seem to be muting it way too early. And try to come up with a steady stand out melody. It seems like you get an idea what you want to do then it kinda disappears into something else.
