Literally how is this bad

Its above average with nothing necesarily wrong with it. Its overrated.

Terrible opening song, but apart from that it's a solid NIN album, Sunspots + The Line Begins to Blur are my favourites. The Slip and Hesitation Marks though ...

The two songs that seem to hold up today are the title track and 'only'

The poppy drumbeat, disco bassline with a joy division tone and the droney synths juxtapose really well and it seems less foo fightery than a lot of his old man stuff
