Why are there not many black rock musicians even though they invented rock and the few that exist post 60's era are usually fantastic?

hip-hop culture
Because rock as evolved past the nonintellectual lyrics and party rhythm. So of course blacks literally couldn't compete, so they went off to create other low level genres that will soon be improved when whites get a hold of them(except for rap, that was trash from the beginning).

Racism against "uncool whites".

Haha my dad loves that first song.

A combination of label politics, American views on race and music, and black culture as a whole moving on to different genres (funk, then disco, then rap/modern R&B).

The early black rock musicians aren't really all that similar to the strand of rock we have now.
By the late 60's rock, and all the rock that would come after it, had evolved to a style almost entirely played by white people.
So, time moves on. White people took it but black people didn't want anything to do with white people rock of the 60's.

is the first song bad because its dad rock or something?

i thought hip-hop literally developed because poor black kids couldn't afford rock instruments and started fucking with their parents' records to make breakbeat music instead

because only terrible music is marketed to black people now, so most of them do not even consider trying to make good music

I'm racist too but let's not pretend rock isn't just pop drivel
