I never bought an instrument for more than $300, and that was a banjo, I've played live with guitars I found at garage sales, why does everyone think that spending more money on an instrument means it's going to be better?
My friend had a 20k baby grand piano, and I had a $2000 standup growing up, sure her's sounded better but I can play better than she can now. As long as it stays in tune man.

The thing is whenever these poorfa/gg/s raise their little pee green jealous heads it's always complaining about Gibson.

The truth is they want Gibson guitars and it eats them up that they're out of their price range but instead of aspiring towards something they want they go online and cry like bitches about it.

But that's what fucking losers do, they try to tear everything down to their level because they know they don't have it in them to build themselves up to where they wish they were.

Gibson makes some great guitars, the fact that you can't afford the price of admission is all the problem boils down to.

Low quality, you say? Cool, don't buy one idiot.
Overpriced? Great, put your wallet away!
Wait, why are you all still crying?
Seriously.
Why?

>>
>>74031745
I don't usually post here, but I have a few USA Wolfgangs that are comparably priced to LP Customs and after owning two LP Standards, I don't think I'll going back to Gibson any time soon unless they have a few changes that I greatly prefer, such as stainless steel vintage-sized frets, double truss, and a neck without finish.
I enjoyed the look, heaviness, and tone of LPs over the years, but the necks are more "show than go" compared to quite a few more modern styles of guitar.

Point being, I like Gibsons quite a bit and I'll probably pick up another 57' clone or a Silverburst some day, but to appeal to me they would need some more options involving the neck it least before I pick one up.

You shouldn't and there is really no reason other than "muh tone". People have been using and recording with rack Pods since they came out, and the faggots here can't even tell which ones because most of them are plugged up to so many fucking pedals they wouldn't know a good tone if it bit them in the ass. Axe/Kemper/Helix have made leaps and bounds in the last couple of years. These are fantastic for plugging straight into the house when live, nothing better for headphone practice, and are good tools for noobs to find out where they want to go when they go the pedal/tube route. When you get to the stage in your career when you are recording, every good studio has a palette of amps to use or can get what you need/want with a phone call. Don't get me wrong tube amps have their place, but not in a fucking bedroom.

I want to play an acoustic with a strap but it only has 1 strap button (on the bottom.) I was going to get another one but I don't know where to install it. And now I see these things:

https://www.google.com/#tbm=shop&q=where+to+buy+strap+peg+for+acoustic+guitar

Where part of the strap just goes around the headstock, which I was doing at one point anyway. What should I do? Buy and install a strap button or just use a wrap-around type strap?

It is not a guitar I would play, so no opinions on the guitar.

The guitarist in one of my bands plays a Blackstar HT40 and it sounds great. It's warm, and rather dark/ominous soudning

Funny, I don't see that much difference in the price of a MIM Fender and the lower end of the Gibson 2017 lineup.

I still want me a MIM Jazz Bass to fill out my gear, but Fender is the Apple of guitar brands.Loved by hipsters everywhere.

It's going back and forth between F# Minor and F# Dorian, the only difference being a major 6th instead of a minor 6th. The little melody motif that keeps coming back is the Dorian bit, everything else is in Minor. Theory-wise it's called using parallel modes

What are some instrumental bands that make use of loop pedals to play their stuff with one guitarist? Only ones I know of are Brontide and Cloudkicker (sort of).

Just got an RC-30, it's good but it feels like I'm paying an extra £130 over basic loopers just for the dedicated footswitch to stop it and to save loops and copy them to a computer. Are there any loopers with features like multiplying a loop for a similar price? Seems weird to have to pay £400+ for a device to do what you can do in any DAW trivially. http://essej.net/sooperlooper/ has spoiled me.

Dude, just play your fucking guitar and play some shit. I understand that when you're first making music everything you make is going to sound like recycled uninspired garbage. This is normal. After a while, you start to develop your own musical style and way of playing, and eventually you play something and think "oh, shit! this doesn't sound half bad!"

>Yeah, but how? Everything's been done.

It's literally impossible that everything's been done. there are an essentially infinite number of ways to arrange notes and sounds.

Honestly, if you just want to bitch and cry and moan that everything has been done and you're not even going to bother trying it out don't come here, you can do that on your own.

>I SOUND LIKE QUEEN WITH THIS GUITAR AMP
>THIS GUITAR AMP WILL MAKE MY BAND POPULAR BECAUSE THE NORMIES KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TUBE AND SOLIDSTATE AND MODELING AND WILL JUDGE MY PLAYING BASED OFF IT.

Helix/Fractal sounds way better live because it is easier to mix. I don't have a retarded pedal board with $500 of effects into a $600 guitar amp and high maintenance requirements with a mic required just to make it sound decent in a room so that it isnt painful to the audience.

I guarantee you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between a ac15 and the spider VI model let alone a high end model.

The only effect that is not great in the helix is the spring reverb which just isn't close to as good a real fender reverb despite using almost all of the DSP.

The rest sound way better than trying to make it run through your amp and other pedals wihtout fucking up the sound.

>my bands rehearsal space

What does /gg/ think about an electric guitar with only 20 frets? I came across an old electric recently that I really love now it looks but only has 20 frets. It's not an expensive guitar and it's a 2 piece neck so I could always just stick a 22 or 24 fret fretboard on there. Alternatively I could just have an unfinished body made with 24 frets and even have the right upper corner of the guitar cut away a bit for easier access to the higher frets. Price would probably close going either way but have the unfinished guitar milled and then finishing it myself and putting the guitar together would probably be cheaper.

What does /gg/ think?

Don't even know where to start but

1. Just....no. Bass has it's difficulties but it is in no way shape or form harder than guitar, evidenced even more by the fact that you couldn't play guitar but can play bass.

2. Bass definitely adds to the music and is an important element, but let's not get crazy, a band wouldn't be "nothing" without a bassist.

Hi all,

Have a chance to buy this guitar for about half of the going rate. However, I am trying to consolidate my collection a bit and I am torn with adding something new. I plan on replacing the pickups were dynasonic-like pups and adding a Bigsby (so 200 at least into the guitar, most likely sinking into it about what it is really worth).

Should I pass and just play what I have or go for it?

I can't really say if all those buzzing fret sounds are because of your playing style, or the bass itself

anyway, based on the pattern, you should train your ring finger a little more? or maybe it's the pinky

That's inaccurate though.

Well there are only like 4 sections on bass. The guitars have multiple solos each though so good luck.

I've seen Megadeth live a couple times and Dave switches off solos with whoever else is on guitar, trading back and forth basically.

If you have a rhythm/second guitarist in the band, you guys should trade off on the solos to keep the workloads down.

Just listened to the song again and paid attention to the guitars.

Personally I think solos can be improvised in a cover as long as it sounds like it fits. I'm still pretty sure that Dave and Marty trade off on the solo at some point though, I could be wrong.

I would divide the song like:
- Intro
- Main Riff
- Alternate Riff
- Solo
- Alternate Riff 2
- Outro

Or something like that. I would practice the song structure to get each part down before tackling the solo personally.

This is fucking badass. This is probably the best sounding thing anyone has posted on /gg/ in its existence, so this is definitely someone famous.

Man, that exotic half-step pre-bend, aka Marty Friendman pre bend is hard as fuck to do. I have been practicing it for a few days, and man is it kicking my ass. I am slowly getting a hang out it, but man it's such a tricky pre-bend. Video below for anyone interested to learn it:

I don't get what's hard about bending half a step. Also I don't think those eastern scales fit metal

Is not the fact of just "bending" a half step. Is a half semi-pre bend. Just like Steve Stine's explains on his video. I think you are completely wrong, eastern scales sound absolutely amazing on metal, just as Marty Friedman has shown on his weeb music.
