Usually regular Ernie Ball 10s, however I bought pic related a few weeks ago to see if they are really more durable than the normal strings.

I used Ernie Ball 10s for years until the D'Addario NYXLs came out. Was thinking of checking out the Paradigms.

These are surprisingly good and strong. Have this set on a heavily used floyd guitar.

>>

What I'm asking about is writing lyrics
>>
>>73946752
Lyrics arent as important as delivery sadly. And what music are you going for? If its sincere and thought out someone will appreciate it. Give me an example. Let me help.
>>

>>
>>73946780
I don't really know what music I'm going for, I've been playing for 3 years mostly practicing technique and I want something to show for it other than being able to play tremolo picking at 210bpm

>>73946792
No idea, I just tried singing and playing at the same time one day and that's how I could do it

I've barely been singing because any lyrics I can come up with make me cringe and wanna stop immediately
>>
>>73946881
I see. What helps me is when im not playing guitar im listening to music and trying to copy the notes. That helos with coming up with phrasing.

Just write stuff dude

>>
Threadly reminder that Crazyaga has a superhigh IQ so we should all fag out for him
>>
>>73947109
You could write random stuff but its not gonna fit with the rhythm, I found that if I'm singing and playing its really hard to do it with different rhythms and not lose timing so I would have to orient my vocal riff over the instrumental one and fit the lyrics on top of that

Are you singing along to the music when you are listening?
I don't really listen to music with vocals nowadays maybe that's a problem?
>>
>>73947200
I agree its not wholly about content but delivery. Are you even reading right? And yes im singing along. Start off with an album that has vocals that you know like the back of your palm. For me it was The wall. I learned to sing it after i learned to play it. Now i can do both. Thats a very basic album. And yeah you need to listen to vocal centric music. Even music you detest. It really will make you better and give you a firmer grasp of musical relationships. Make sure youre on key and practice arpeggios. Like the aristocats.

Umm listen to pop i would say. Keep in mind these are plastic people made into an image BUT the guy behind the scenes writing or buying music knows what the fuck he is doing. They have catchy phrases and memorable singing to a science. Playing guitar actuallt got me to respect some pop as a genre. And my guilty pleasure is playing and singing. Carly Rae Jepsens Call Me Maybe. Use your vocals to play and intertwine with the instruments.

>>73946404
Make general observations about poetic rhyme schemes. The same principles of consonance and dissonance, call and response, question and answer, tension and release, et al apply to lyrics.

If you just say, "There once was a man from Nantucket," you are creating tension (which is good because it creates interest) but the listener is going to be pissed if you just leave it hanging in the air like that without a payoff.

It's just like if you played a lick over a C Major chord and landed strongly on F without answering that phrase with a strong resolution.

pentium 4 has hyper threading since literally 10 years ago or even more
>>

Yeah, sure, the Itaniums and Xeons had them, but you had to spend 1000s back in the day to get a hold of one of those.
The new pentium IV has a nice, friendly pricetag and bring hyperthreading to desktops.
Beter than an i7 extreme, without busting the bank.

>>
>>73950410
Usually they'll be simple dyads: Major or minor thirds, fourths, fifths (power chord), and the tritone are the most common in blues, rock, and metal.

Inverted major thirds are pretty common too. I call them the Van Halen chord. Play a power chord at the A string 7th fret, then play the 6th fret of the A string and the 9th fret of the D string:

x79xxx

x69xxx

It gives you the sound a power chord played on the 7th fret low E string, but it has a different flavor because of the major third interval, and since that third is in the bass, it voice leads nicely from the previous chord.

Plain old D'Addario XL nickelwounds have been my go to for many years.

I recently tried the EB slinkies as I use EB strings on bass and love them, but I don't love them on guitar,

They feel harsher, go dead quicker, and their tension is noticeably different to the DDs.

I think coated strings and the like are a fuckin scam. Just wipe your strings down after you play and they will last longer.

Also the new tech strings like cobalt and paradigm etc coming out, my only question is how fast do they wear fretwire? Nobody ever discusses it and it's a pretty important part of the equation
>>
Elixir Nanoweb Light

Can't live without coated strings (my hands get super sweaty) and elixirs last a long time. Uncoated strings last like a week, tops.
>>
>>73945829
The NYXL's imho are the best strings D'Addario has developed so far, at least for bass anyways. They have the brightness of steels but the comfortable feeling and warmness of nickel strings. The only other strings I'd say come close are both the DR Pure Blues and the Nickel Lo-Riders.

Which of these pedals should I fit into my budget?

>MXR Dyna Comp Compressor
>Small Stone Phaser
>Boss DD-3 Digital Delay
>Holy Grail Reverb Nano
>DOD FX25

I don't have any pedals that already handle these effects either
>>
>>73957699

I mostly wanted feedback on whether or not any of them are actually worth getting. I've got $200 to blow
>>
>>73957757
What kind of music do you play anon? From your list, I would get the Boss DD-3. You can get them REALLY cheap used. You can also get the holy grail reverb, along with the dyna comp, or the small stone if you fancy it. All used ofc, but yes, they are all pretty decent pedals. If you get lucky you might even buy all 5 with 200 bucks lol.

I did a loop thing on bass: https://clyp.it/5twkuxvb

Also, I'm currently using an electro harmonix 360 nano looper. It's doing the job so far, but should I think about a different/better looping station? These things are literally the most fun I'm having on bass, what features should I look for? Pretty sure the big BOSS loop station can save and play back several loops at the same time, or something along those lines.

because it sounded and played better than his gibson studio. and its lighter on the weight. we played both to compare.
but the truth is. he liked its sound mostly because of the bright sparkle on the neck pickup. and that is just because mine has a uncovered 59 pickup, and the gibson studio comes with covered 498T pickups which are overwound. it might also come with 300k pots who knows. to me the gibson studio had a bigger sound with more bass. with the same pickups it would sound much more consistent and solid. i prefer mine's looks though

Anon, just take a break for a bit.
If you play for hours and hours on end you are going to burn out or cause yourself some unecessary pain.

You want callouses after all. Not blisters.
The worse thing to do is to stress yourself too much.

I had some fun earlier just playing and singing this old man over and over to my nephew and making up the lyrics as I went on. Getting sillier and sillier.

Keep it simple and fun at first anon.Don't dive into the deep end before you can even simply float. You'll panic and drown.

Pic related is the bassist with the bass, wouldn't call that fuck huge although I don't know how tall he is.

I own a bass made by these guys and it's top notch, better than any MIA standard fender I ever tried. In regards to the controls (just a volume knob on the signature one), the pickup, the finish and the inlays, that's pretty much all customizable if you have one built. Maybe a bit more than the ones they have in stock, but shouldn't be an issue. You can look up mensinger guitars and basses or maruszczyk basses (made by the same guys) for sound samples and reviews. They have tons of demos on their YouTube channel, public peace, as well.
