>The left hemisphere, which controls the right hand, likes rapidly changing sounds, while the other part likes slowly changing sounds.
>A mark of devil, a sign of neurosis, rebellion, criminality, and a nasty habit, these are the things that left-handedness is often considered famous for, at various times in history.
>It has been also considered as a trait indicating musical abilities and indicating creativity.
>In fact, the brain hemispheres of left-handers tend to be much more symmetrical and balanced than those of right-handers
>Given that, as we have seen, many (if not most) activities require both hemispheres, at least to some extent (e.g. the right hemisphere remembers musical melodies, but rhythm and absolute pitch comes from the left hemisphere
>Studies suggest that left-handers have a physically thicker and more developed corpus callosum connecting the two hemispheres

"Rock is black music" is so incredibly overblown. The influence of blues in rock was momentary and by the time you get interesting rock like Yes, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin post-LZII, etc., that influence is almost completely gone, and in any case is completely dwarfed by the influence of English folk, classical, art-music, and insular genre-internal influences. And blues itself was the result of American blacks imitating the European folk tunes of the continent. But no one says "blues is just stolen white music". The whole thing is retarded white guilt bullshit.

Retard here, how do you use one of these(pic related)? I hear videos say that I should measure string height on the 12th fret, and that it should be 4/64 inches on the treble side, and 5/64 on the bass side. So, how do I know it's 4/64, or 5/64 on this ruler? Thanks in advance.

Dear intelligent people of /gg/,

I have a partscaster with a shitty licensed floyd rose. If I wanted to swap it for an Ibanez Lo Pro Edge, would I have to drill any new holes and shit, or would it just be like swapping Legos, since it's also licensed under floyd rose patents?

Thanks in advance

you play at a pace which you can play relaxed then you speed it up gradually. just like any other technique youre tensing up your muscles with

I think it needs to go the other way since the strings on the 15th fret are nearly an inch off the neck

>>
>>73886366
the strings pull the neck causing a bow. the truss rod pulls it to the other side. the more you tighten it the straighter it gets, until its convex

maybe its the saddles that are high
press some string at both the 1st and 15th frets. there should be just a tiny space, like a credit cards thickness. enough so the open string/first frets dont buzz
>>
>>73886406
also, i want to be able to mantain tremolo with good technique for a long time.

should i aim to increase temp for short burst or increase and only keep it up if i can play it at the time im aiming for

>>73886529
>so if i try i will eventually can?
yes you will can if you practice it anon
>are the sam eprinciples applied to alternate picking?
yes
>like just try to relax?
yes try to loosen it up. just do the movement without strenghtening up your arm. the only strenght should be on holding the pick, but none tensing the arms.
if you tremolo at a slower speed you can do it relaxed, right? you practice it at that pace so you can do it consistently, then gradually speed it up

It's just a matter of relaxing, just like with everything else on the guitar.
Tension means you're less efficient, both in speed and endurence.
Use the wrist for the tremolo picking and move the forearm/arm to go up/down the strings.

>>73886718
Yes, but it sounds like shit. Muting is the most important part of sweep picking, other than that it's almost like a slower strum.

Slapping/popping makes you pop into the mix though.
I think the problem of the pick is that often it makes the bass tone too monotone.
It's cool for fast tremolo picking, pick bassists often don't think about doing that and it's kind of a cool tone.

>>73888758

Just got my first guitar (mail order), a Yamaha Pacifica 112V. It looks and feels pretty nice, but it has a terrible fret buzz on the lower E and A strings. Should I change the strings? Adjust the truss rod? Heighten the action on the saddle?
Is this something I would be able to do myself or would I have to take it to a professional?
I mean I am a complete guitar noob but I'm not retarded. Wouldn't pay a guy €70 just to turn some screws.
>>
>>73890005
lets first check if the issue is on the truss rod. press at the 1st and 15th fret on these strings and tell how much of space theres between the string and the top of the frets
>>
>>73890005
You can do it yourself with aid of the internet, most likely.
Just go through a setup run. Make sure everything you mentioned is checked.

I had the same problem with an American standard Strat years ago, and honestly, I made sure everything was correct, had my friend check it (he's a fucking autistic when it comes to measurement, etc) and yeah... I rarely have to even tune my guitar, man. It stays in tune for ages. No issues
>>
>>73890068
>>73890005
I should add, I spent about 4 hours on it though. I made sure it was right, took my time, etc
>>
>>73890053
Barely any space, but none of the frets seem to be touching the string. Seems the neck is pretty much perfectly straight. The manual says there should be a little bit of relief though. Haven't changed the strings from factory yet, might as well do that first since I've read about one guy who had the buzz go away with just changing strings.

>>73890068
Alright cool, I'll do some reading on this then.
>>
>>73890119
yeah there should be some relief. it has most effect on buzzing on the first frets
really old strings add buzz too

but isn't it common knowledge that anchoring you fingers on the body of the guitar just creates excess tension?

Could anyone give me some advice on how to sound proof a room so my neighbors cannot hear me play at 1 am? I live it a house that is pretty sound proof and my neighbors live about 25 feet away. How well would foam or towels keep the sound from going outside my house?

I haven't gotten complaints yet, but I am also considering getting a drum kit. I would like to not be an asshole to them because they are really nice.
>>
>>73896997
What im implying is that you started playing as a pleb and learned improper habits from the get go. Cant you figure anything out?

What is the most complex riff you can play flawlessly?
>>
>>73897008
Do some googling, also be sure to check ultimate-guitar.com forums. I think you should do some kind of layered approach. Using carpets everywhere along with foam pads etc.

Also remember soundproofing is a fire hazard as well so take care you don't have anything there which could set a house fire...

So I actually played in a technical death metal band in high school and playing jazz competently is 1000x more complicated than any tech death riff I've ever heard. Anyone can learn a technique; applying the theory necessary for jazz musicianship requires much more discipline.
>>
>>73897575
That's true, that actually makes the real musicianship. Applying theory with technique. It's ying/yang you cannot exist without other.

Thanks! I was thinking about layering a few towels and making a board to hang on my walls. If anyone has experience with this your insight would be helpful! You mention a good point about fires. Would flame retardant spray be a bad idea?
>>
>>73896081
Tortex comes in two different flavours, I think. I find the purple ones to be soft and the black ones hard. (Not referring to the basic black and red ones.)
>>
>>73896934
Anchor higher up, like where the guitar body meets your forearm.

thank you, I will give this a try, I can already tell my alternate picking is a lot faster, but my stability is just awful
