Help gg, I need flanger/chorus pedal recommendations for that anarcho punk sound. Some examples:

https://youtu.be/_9tvmT7jHjU
https://youtu.be/FI6EivGjZ08
https://youtu.be/YvA21QXMJM8
https://youtu.be/Gm43yax1kZU

I'm thinking the flanger from that new TC line could get me there, but I'm not ONLY looking at dirt cheap options. On the other hand, I do play violent shows and tour and shit, so dropping $500 on some handwired work of art isn't ideal.

I'm looking for The Sound, I don't care if it's dirt cheap or somewhat higher end, long as it sounds GOOD.

Thoughts or recs?

I live in an apartment with the girlfriend, and i'm picking up a tubemeister 5 watt head with an eminence 1x12 cab and i'm worried about volume levels. Now i play a lot of doom/stoner stuff, but i've always had others living with me so i'm used to give up a little tone for lower volumes, but that was with a modeling amp. Can anything be done to save me from a noise complaint with the tube amp? Iso cab? Also if it helps its one of those apartments with two floors, an upstairs and downstairs, so no one lives above or below us.

The 80s revivial doesn't concern every genre from the 80s though. There hasn't been a sudden outburst of Heavy/Glam metal bands.

Is there a good way to practice switching chords besides just playing them over and over? I have trouble when switching to C or F, I can't do is fast I always put down my pinky and ring finger first and then the rest sequentially which is slow but I can't seem to do it all at once.
>>
>>73902645
Do you know all tone positions on the fret by heart, like when someone says play a D you don't even have to think about it? That's really important. I'm a pianist, started playing some guitar recently and although I can read sheet music fluently, I can't relate it to the fret fast enough like on the piano.

If you have problems just reading it, try using a piano if you can get access to one, it's so much more intuitive on the keyboard and you'll learn faster.

Way too many drums for that budget, I don't understand people that have that many but people have different tastes. For 400 dollars you might get a rough second hand Pearl kit, or you could get a good Yamaha kit. But don't think they'll be like your friend's kit, if you're lucky you might get a 5 piece (Snare, bass drum, hi hat, tom and a floor tom) but I think that will probably be the most you'll get for that type of money.
I hope this has given you an idea of what you might get
>>

>>73904042
i mean on guitar, ive struggled with that, which means i worry about my hand size on a full scale bass.

I know that sort of thing wouldn't come up, but i still wonder. what famous short bassists are there?
>>
>>73903866
Get full. It's more about flexibility than size, you only need practice. If you go on youtube you can find tiny asian girls with tiny asian hands playing bass like crazy.
>>
>>73904062
maybe its just that your fingers arent much stretched?

>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOLORvoQu_U how to get my bass playing as tight as this >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnDwZQEvjQc
>>
>>73904062
you may find a narrower neck more beneficial than a short scale.

If you're only using 124 like most bassists, there is hardly any stretching
>>
>>73903640
I don't see what you don't get, learn how the tones go in order and then just memorize one position for each clef, like for the bass clef there's f on the line between the two dots and then if you don't know which tone a note represents you just count down from the note you know. Slowly you'll be able to find more and more notes without counting down and you'll be able to count down from the nearest position you know and eventually you'll know all of them without needing to count. It's just practice like anything else.

Find a song you like (start simple), get sheet music for it (classical is easiest to find), learn it only with sheet music. After a couple of songs you'll be able to read pretty well.

Any of you people play the classical guitar?

I want to get a new acoustic, cause the one i've been playing on for the past 6 years or so is just not good, not even in tune on higher frets, and since i'm a huge fan of The Microphones and Phil Elverums and like to layer guitar too i was thinking of getting a Classical.

Any idea for brands or specific guitars up to maybe 800-1000€? I heard Cordoba is good, but their classical guitars seem to be mostly specifically for the flamenco style of playing.

WHOS READY?!

Fender JMJ Road Worn Mustang Bass

PRESS RELEASE: Known as a true renaissance man of the modern music scene, Justin Meldal-Johnsen’s bass credits range a variety of top artists across genres. From studio to stage, Justin’s treasured ’67 Mustang Bass is his tool of choice.

Fender has teamed up with him to create a signature 4-string modeled after his vintage Daphne Blue instrument - the limited edition JMJ Road Worn Mustang Bass.

Powered by a custom-spec split-coil pickup, the JMJ Road Worn Mustang bass is perfect for playing punchy, melodic bass lines.

The 30" scale gives it a tight, focused tone while the modern 9.5”-radius fingerboard with rolled edges offers a familiar feel that will make any bassist feel right at home.

Designed for comfort and speed, this bass also has stage-ready style.

Launching October 17, 2017

The body of the guitar is 3 pieces of wood glued together. This is common is intermediate to beginner guitars but most people try to match color and grain pattern. Notice how your guitar has 1/3rd darker on the right side. lighter in middle and then a different pattern thats also darker. A tell tale sign of peasant chinese labor probably high on opium. Somebody didnt care or was told not to or was a dumbass like you.

Its mostly aesthetic at this point. You already fucked up by getting a 3 piece body whether or not it was matched. One piece of quality wood naturally resonates more than a 3 pieces of wood glued together. As long as you csn enjoy playing thats all that matters until you can get a non pleb tele. Which may even be an oxymoron.

Find out it's worth $400

Thats your fault completely. Learn from this and NEVER lend out gear again. The world is not to be trusted.
>>

Well the guitar has a pretty good sound to it.
Deep and bassy and bluesy, but it does buzz a bit on the low strings when it's amped up though. (Could be very old strings though. I mean it's likely that it was never played for years and years before I owned it)

I looked it up online a while back, and I'm pretty sure it's a jap copy, but I couldn't match it to any other known clones. Always something a little different to it.

I mostly bought it for the metal gigging case it came in. It's a really nice solid and robust metal case.

I feel like getting it down. One because I might use the case, and two because I need the spare straps I have up there anyway for this electric-acoustic I just got.
(And I can shove that shitty Falcon acoustic guitar up there for good measure)

Fuck it. I got it down.

what you played sounds cool but is not the exact same as the song. Maybe play it at 0.5 speed?

GG, i have an enigma. Im trading my PRS se custom 24, and i got two offers. A beat to shit 2003 mim thinline tele that likely has a crack through to a neck screw, or a like new VM jaguar and 50 bucks. Assuming i liked both equally, what should I go for?

Pic related, is the jag
>>
All the guitar teaching sites say I should use a capo, but everyone on this shitty board says capos are for faggots. Who should I believe?
>>
>>73922454
It's a bad trade for you anyway you look at it. At least the Jaguar isn't potentially broken though.
>>
>>73922505
The market here is shit. Twink fags are inflating the market on indie guitars so much so that a vm jag is still 350 bucks used, and a prs has trouble selling above 400.

>inb4 calling myself a twink fag for wanting a jag or thinline tele
>>
>>73922526
I meant more along the lines of the quality of the instruments, it's a big downgrade. I had a squier jaguar and it was ok besides the bridge and tremolo, expect to change at least the bridge and do some maintenance on the trem string holes to get rid of sharp edges. Even upgrading to an American Fender Bridge is a big step up though, so you don't have to spend much.
>>
>>73922550
Yeah, the cash was going to go to a bit of gas and a new bridge, probably a mustang one. I would slap 13s on it anyways, so i doubt itll pop off much, just intonation anyways
>>
>>73922454
Most of the time, the neck crack is just in the finish.
>>
>>73922572
I wish I have a pic saved somewhere, but when i saw it, the neck plate was bent in because the screws were over screwed in, and it was severely depressed into the wood by the hornside top, to point of cracking off part of the corner. Neck itself was fine, and electronics were good.

Half of the billboard top 10 has guitar as a main instrument. It's not good music, but it's still there. It almost always is.
>>
lately I've been trying to jam to music by trying what notes sound right, learning scales only helped me a bit. will I be able to naturally jam to a song if I keep doing this?
>>
>>73922643
Find another deal all together. The shit you want will always be out there. Save your money. Not just in guitars but in life.
>>
>>73921931
Lol a bolt on neck les paul
>>
>>73922767
Yeah. But learning scales would make the process simpler. But remember that soloing isn't about what you can and can't play. it's about knowing how each note fits over the given harmony and the effect it will have an the context of the song.
>>
>>73922839
yeah I know pentatonic and blues scale but I struggle to apply it

This is getting a bit too real for early morning /gg/. Thanks for the solid advice, tho

Don't get trolled by teens.

Capos are a genuinely useful tool - especially if you work with singers regularly

Well you know how those scales sound hopefully. Just figure out how they work in the context of the song. For example, I don't think I'd ever play the harmonic minor scale over the 12 bar blues. Each scale gives a different sound to your music. Some work better than others. You have to think about not only how each note in your scale relates to the harmony. For another example, if I want to target the chord tones of a Gmin7, I could play any of the notes of the g minor pentatonic, besides the fourth, and it would accomplish that goal. Now if I wanted to stand out more, I would play the fourth, or add modal stuff, or play something not in the diatonic scale. Adam Neely has a really good video on this you should watch called "Cantus Firmus".

It's not too bad actually for a cheapo knock-off. It does the job. It held it's tune from when I last used it about two years ago.

The only issues it has is random feedback if the jack cable gets budged out of a particular place, (that can be easily fixed I think but not got round to fixing it), one of the strap screws comes loose, (could always glue the bastard in), and it's insanely heavy and dense. It's probably like 11-12 lbs.

I pretty much bought it for that guitar case though. That's worth £40 alone anyday.
>>
>>73922981
Maybe.

The company that runs ebays shipping program is really sketchy. any item they confiscate, they then re-sell.

or if one of the workers sees something they like that was sold cheap, they mark it as restricted and pay the difference.

why do slide guitarists move their slide back and forth like they're playing fretless? all it does is wishy noises

As a guitar teacher, could I photocopy pages of instructional books that I've bought and give them to my students as study material, or would that be bad and wrong and evil?
