It's funny to see that when Marilyn Manson thread appears the Manson fans always decide to try to thrash NIN and call Manson's albums better without really explaining their opinions in a better way, more elaborate way at least.
I see in NIN threads a lot of silly memes, yet also genuine discussion about the album's concepts and the discussions are really civil, yet with Manson it tends to be more hostile.
I love Manson's old material, I can't say that for the new. I feel like Trent has progressed as an artist much more and made some amazing records after getting sober, I frankly feel like Year Zero and Hesitation Marks/Not The Actual Events are all exceptional and I consider them master pieces.
Manson never blew me away with a new sound, I wouldn't call his new records pure garbage, because they're not, they're good or sometimes mediocre. The Pale Emperor was his best work in ages but it still didn't come close to the old times.
I don't think Manson was ever good as NIN, I cannot imagine ranking any Manson's album above any of NIN's. Both Manson and Trent tell stories in their albums. I always found Trent's albums to be better produced but also take you on a journey, filled with anger, fear and depression, always ending somewhere.

Trent got better and better at vocals and has a pretty good range now, I believe that least personally, he shows of nice singing abbility in stuff like Hesitation Marks, even Not The Actual Events. In Dear World his vocals are really impressive, at least to me. Manson used to have a nice voice, The Man That You Fear still brings me close to tears. Very emotional, but yet he can't really pull that off anymore.
