Asking question again here because I didn't really get many answers in the last thread.

I think it'd be cool to have a Rickenbacker, I like their sound, but there's no place to try one out in town. Should I just say fuck it and buy one anyways?

What do you guys usually have the volume knob(s) on your guitar at when you play? Do you leave them at 10 and adjust gain/level to where you want, or do you back it off some?

have you looked at a bunch of different reviews on a particular model? from professional reviewers to potato cam reviewers?

if all of those combined and you still like it, go for it. it's how i bought my stuff that i couldn't test out myself, and i've been quite happy with them.

Do a calculation of risk vs reward.
What is the worst case scenerio? what is the best case scenerio? how likely is each scenerio to happen?

It's really subjective. if the reward is worth the risk for you, just go for it
>>
>>73436973

Not all risks are worth it. it depends how big is the risk and how big is the reward

>>
>>73438448
The back and sides of an acoustic have fairly little to do with it's sound, that is mostly done by the top. It's really mostly about how stiff the materials and the construction of the rest of the guitar is, the stiffer the more vibration gets sent back into the top to produce sound, but the actual sound is the top.

>>
>>73438876
There is even more interesting stuff when you get to cellos, again the top makes for most of the sound but the endpin has a huge influence on volume. Older endpins tend to vibrate more freely, meaning they eat a lot of energy that doesn't resonate back into the top to produce sound. A company even made an adjustable endpin for "traditional" sound where it vibrates more freely and a mechanism that lets you stiffen it.

Nice, proper Bartolini pickups, fanned fret is a good concept, I don't know how exactly the preamp sounds but it has the correct layout, yeah seems pretty nice provided the quality fit and finish is good.

Feature-wise it gets nearly all points from my, just lacks switches for single coil/parallel/serial, besides that it seems perfect.
Can't comment on the rest, pickups will be very good, I'm fairly confident the preamp will be at least fine, so it's all dependent on the fit and finish and overall quality. Buy it from a store where you can safely return it. The concept is more than sound, it's actually very good.

Yeah man. Kinda frustrating when you watch interviews with people who've been in the music business for decades, talking about how they bought their now ridiculously expensive gear for a couple bucks from their drug dealer or whatever back in the day, or how they could afford to tinker around with and completely fuck up guitars experimenting with power tools and swapping out pickups like they cost nothing.

This. The descent from Dm7 to Db7 to Cmaj is a ii V7 I in the key of C Major, but using a tritone sub for the V7 chord.

If you're trying to connect Cmaj to Dm with a passing chord, try out Db Diminshed 7th.

>>
>>73450489
Two things i'm noticing:
1. Your sound has a much narrower frequency range, particularly on the higher side of the frequency spectrum. this is the bigger issue, i believe. maybe the problem is with your original guitar tone

2. I think in the song they used some sort of double-tracking technique to widen the sound and give it a "Stereo" feel, while your sound is just mono.

A compressor never makes THIS much of a dramatic difference. usually the effect of compressors is more subtle than this. just letting you know

>>
>>73450542
>Your sound has a much narrower frequency range, particularly on the higher side of the frequency spectrum. this is the bigger issue, i believe. maybe the problem is with your original guitar tone
that means the problem is in the guitar, are the mics not good? they are seymour duncan after all.
>>73450542

>2. I think in the song they used some sort of double-tracking technique to widen the sound and give it a "Stereo" feel, while your sound is just mono.

so thats like making both channels a bit different so that it sounds like its coming from different directions?
>>
>>73450594
Well, this are the two most common ways people do double tracking:

1. Just recording the guitar twice, and playing one recording 100% at the left side and the other one panned 100% to the right side.

2. just copy your guitar role in the DAW so that you will have it playing twice. then what you need to do is to move one of the copies about 30 milliseconds forward and slightly increasing it's volume (the increase in volume is because the 30ms delay creates a "volume drop" in the perception of the sound because it will always arrive second to your ears).

And then pan the original guitar recording and the delayed copy 100% to the left and right.

(the Delay doesn't have to be 30 milliseconds btw i just gave a number as an example. usually 30ms is a good number though)
>>
>>73450594
And about the bigger issue, which is your guitar tone having a narrower frequency spectrum, maybe you are not using the proper mic technique.

And i mean, it could also just be your amp or guitar
>>
>>73450542
>>73450649
and do you think the guitar is not good enough for this, it has seymour duncan mics, alternative 8 and classic 59
>>

>>
Hey /gg/, can someone explain how does the tube amp actually work, specifically when trying to do stereo. I picture it like this, you send signal into the front, where there is some overdriving that colors your sound, but doesn't make the signal ready for speakers in the cab yet, after that it can send it the loop, where you can add other effects to it and then it's actually amplified and ready for the cab. Is this correct? And if it's correct, is there an other, cheaper way to do stereo than buying two heads? Specifically, I mean using choruses, flangers and stuff like that in the loop and then sending it to two different cabs, or is this impossible without a second amp?
>>
how do you lot go about writing lyrics?
So far my method has been coming up with a melody to go along with the guitar rhythm
then using words that fit into that melody.
It's getting me nohere so I'm curious how you lot do it?

post your acoustic
>>
>>73450953
I'll tell you what i think:

1. The amplification process itself is what causes the distortion sound when you overdrive your amps. (unless your amp has an effect distortion built in).

2. If you are going to run one head into two cabinets, it is possible but you must have the correct impedance. using two cabs either increases or decreases the impedance based on whether you run it in series or parallel

3. If you want to get cheap stereo live without using any DAW trickery, you could always just get a Stereo combo like the Roland JC40 (well, this amp doesn't really fit any genre tho)

is it bad if i never learn other people's songs? i dont find it stimulating enough to have to "learn" an already established song. my practice routine is me opening up fl studio and my amp sim, turning on the metronome and playing a riff or chord progression i thought of, practicing it, recording it and putting a lead melody or vocals over it

if i want to improve my technique in various styles and become a better guitar player then I have to learn other songs. I keep trying to learn jazz standards just to learn the chord changes and substitutions but I keep getting bored. so many good artists make cool and intuitive covers or just play them for fun and i feel like i'm not a "real" guitar player if i can't play covers sometimes and enjoy it, just someone who uses the guitar to make music

i fucking love alternative open chords.

for example, make a C major chord. now slide it down 2 frets. you've now got a D major.

Make an G major, slide it down to the 8th fret. boom, C. slide it further down two frets and you've got another D.

but screw those chords. real men make an E major chord, slide it down 4, 6 or 8 frets, and you get a G, A or a B.

I think of guitarists as violinists of rock/metal/jazz scene, the market is super over saturated, so if you get any gig you are probably better than 80% percent of other players, so it really shows that you can actually play. >not playing the literal mothership of electric guitars

The fact that the guitar also forces you to play standing up with a strap is just another hint of her genius.

Toms sound a little thin, could use a little bass boost. Other than that, good job, it's really cleaner.

UP, FFS. You're like those guys who post upside-down chord tabs.

When they do inventory, they will figure it out. There will also be bills of lading to refer back to. You can't even deny receipt because you signed for it, no?

Personally, I would give it back. I'm not hungry, though. There was a time when I would have just said losers weepers but I'm past that now. If you keep it, hold it for a while. Make sure they don't charge you in some way that is backed up by the book-keeping. You don't want it to bote you in the ass, even though it was unsolicited merch.

Somebody mentioned that Tuxedo can handle .gp6 so I assume that it has the same kind of interface. (I still use GP5.)

I've had a Danelectro DC59 Korean reissue sitting around forever, is it worth replacing the rosewood bridge/stock pickups or should I sell it for a different axe ?
