because the JM is beat up too

one bent tuner
finish is cracked, busted open, neck finish too
original fretboard had to be replaced and the stupid fucking spic luthier I took it to didn't understand I wanted 7.25" radius and clay dots like the original and put in a 22 fret 12" fretboard with pearl dots

>>73103704

the pickguard is from a Squier J Mascis, I wanted the guitar to look like his backup JM that the Squier is based on so I got the gold TOM bridge and figured I would get a gold pickguard from an actual J Mascis guitar. I still have the original tortoise shell pickguard though.

Just filled gigs for the first three weekends in June. Feels really good. Still time to fill the rest of the month, too.

>>
>>73104479
I've seen a lot of people shit on the Highway Ones because they're the cheaper (maybe even cheapest?) American made Fenders, but I love mine. One of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played.

>>73104533
Not really. It's got a great clean sound and that's what I mostly play, so I'm happy with it.
>>
>>73103272
what does /mu/ think of the fender american professional series? it's replacing the american standard series.
>>
>tfw learning 7th chords

practiced for the first time in a month and a half. i got g7 down, but holy fuck chord changes to and from c7 for an hour leave my hand weird cause i havent really used my pinky at all. i thought itd be a lot harder to get used to c7, but im suprised how close i am to figuring it out just from practicing it for an hour, cause im not used to practicing that long.
>>
>>73104661
People play fenders for the accessibility, people play gibson fir the experience
>>
What's the ultimate fuzz pedal for stoner/doom?
>>
>>73104521
It's a partscaster. US FSR body, US Standard neck and a loaded pickguard with the Shawbucker and two Fat 50s. Had it refretted with huge stainless steel frets.
>>
>>73104588
Listening to new genres of music and even different instruments helps challenge me as a player.

Otherwise there are two options: Take a break or play through the rut. Both work but for different people.
>>73104596
That J-bass I played was indeed very comfy. They've definitely done their low-end USA lines better than Gibson has in my [admittedly limited] experience.
>>73104661
Seems like it has good upgrades, though changing medium jumbo frets to narrow tall seems like it could be challenging for some curmudgeons. Fender is innovating though and I dig it. I just wish they'd also add the Elite truss rod adjustment to the Professional series. That thing should become the universal standard anyway.
>>73104826
Whatever your favorite stoner/doom artist uses.

There are so many fuzz pedals out there. Take your pick. Fuzzrocious is a good starting point. Smallsound/Bigsound makes the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine that's fantastic.
>>
>>73104826
Forgot to add that I personally enjoy my Wren & Cuff TFR and I also have a Malekko B:Assmaster that is just insane, but maybe not for doom/stoner stuff. Dunno; not my area of expertise.

That one's in bits being modded. Has been for months now. MIJ pickups are shitty and weak so it's getting DiMarzios and a Roland GK pickup. The System 1 trem is worse than useless and there's no routing for trem springs so I've fitted a top-mounting Kahler.

>>73106412
I really dislike the drum sound and how busy it is. So much fucking crash, and the same crash at that. And your guitar tone leaves a lot to be desired. Really muddy. Keep working at it though.

Contributing with a scrapped cover of Dean Town by Vulfpeck that I did back when the song first came out. Didn't learn it as accurately as I could've and tried to bootleg a take, but since the bass carries the song so much, getting it anything but perfect wouldn't cut it. Still was pretty close for first time learning/recording. Maybe I'll do a full cover some day.

I can't comment, it's a style of music that does nothing for me, bass doesn't sound great though. I mean it's obvious you practised a lot to get that down but you could use some compression on the bass and there's a couple of places where it goes int onasty distortion which doesn't suit the music at all.

Is a half hour a lot these days?

Like I said, this was me dicking around, not making an actual cover. Of course there are no effects. The distortion is my gain being a bit too hot. I was just seeing how well I could do it learning it as quickly as I could, not making an actual attempt. Maybe I wasn't super clear about that.

you do have the required nut files to cut the slots accurately don't you? I mean, you can't just buy a slotted nut and expect it to be the right height. Every new nut needs work to level it to the right size and cut the slots.

Pretty much this. He was saying yesterday that he had "things to do". He's been called out on his old guy persona over and over but today he's suddenly eager to "provide proof" that he really owns those guitars? Please! All it boils down to is he somehow has access to the guitars or the guy who owns them and is getting the photos. Not really hard to figure out because he's not smart enough to pull it off without it being painfully conspicuous.

sun tanning electrics? thoughts on that?

I did some reading about it and decided to try it on my old, no longer frontman electric (2010 strat knock off w/ poly finish). Basically I brought the guitar outside, set it on the stand and let the sun hit the face for 15 min, then the back for 15, and did that again (so 30 min each side broken into 15 min sessions so it wouldn't get too hot). It was about 60 degrees outside with no cloud coverage, and I just brought it inside to room temperature. I know 1 session won't allow me to judge if it "tanned" the guitar (i'm going for a faded look), but i'm curious if anyone here has ever done this.

Really great actually. Im not scared to play a little loud to get the tubes working. And the cleans are great and chimey. And if i overdrive that clean channel i get a good old school crunch. Its a very versatile amp. I have no need for overdrive or distortion pedals.

what guitar is the middle left?
>>
>>73115129
If it was a stack, you could split it. Not recommended since you'd get almost no output.

You can TAP any pickup, though. It basically reduces the windings in the pickup, for a more trebly, lower output sound. For example, I could tap an ultra-hot single coil so it sounds more like a vintage Strat pickup
>>
>>73116816
Peavey T-60, looks like

>>73117200
No, I mean splitting the p-90.
You know, for that sweet out of phase tone
>>

Because FUCK SOAPBARS. They just don't have that Zhenna Sikwah. Besides, if I got an Ibanez, it would be a BTB

I don't think you get it
>>
>>73117231
Confirmed
My dad had one. I hated it. Overly heavy body and a narrow, thin neck with little frets. Plus I hate that the pickups are split when the tone is wide open. I don't want to have to fuck with it just to get a wide-open humbucker
>>
>>73117254
Then fucking cut in half you nerd. Your bullshit doesn't work on me.
>>
>>73117310
>thin little frets

Those are better for intonation though. They're only an issue if you played metal. But you wouldn't do that, anon. Would you?

Well they sure fucking sound different than Gibson mini-humbuckers, Gibson 'mudbuckers', Music Man type humbuckers, Wal's pickups (2 coils per string), the triple coil on the Ibanez ATK, Gretsch-style humbuckers, stacked single coils, the list goes on

Why don't you use your noggin before you post?

They sound different because they're voiced differently.
Soapbar format plays nothing on this, that's like saying "fuck white pickups I had one that I didn't like so I'm never buying a white pickup again".

It's also really ironic to say that you want a BTB when they have the exact same pickups as the SR500 series and up.
