Yo have to work on your fretting hand and making sure your finger strength is solid. Also a good idea to also work on your left hand and right hand muting techniques as well. I was like that for me when I started learning bass on my own like ten years ago, you'll get it eventually it just takes time.

>>
>>73085485

That's a fair price for a new one. They're generally nice little basses, a couple of my students have them and one even gigs with his. Only thing with the Jag body shape is to hold it and see if you like how it balances. It can be inclined to neck dive a little vs Jazz and Precision shapes, but it varies from bass to bass and doesn't bother some people.

Any advice on improvising over chords? What is the best way to approach chord tone soloing? I am trying to make my improvisations a bit more interesting than playing the minor pentatonic scale.
>>
>>73087224
You have the minor pentonic down so build on that. Add the major 3rd into it, or the flat 5th. Also try the major pentatonic scale.
>>
>>73087301
That make sense. Thanks mate. I guess I wanted to get away from the pentatonic so bad that Id didn't consider that.
>>
>>73087224
the way you think is going to be the most difficult part for that, you're probably used to the classic rock minor pentatonic way of soloing where you just stick with one scale throughout the whole solo. when you start getting into soloing over changes that require you to switch scales the biggest thing you have to get used to is thinking about the chords while you solo.

for a really basic start in this i'd say go look into the caged system with it's arpeggios and scales. it sort of gets you used to playing arpeggios and scales in one position so you don't have to jump all over the neck looking for root notes.
>>
>>73087483
Alright, that sounds great. I have one question though, how do you REALLY incorporate arpeggios into your playing in a creative/fun way? I mean, playing arpeggios up and down is almost as bad as playing a scale up and down. Thanks in advance.
>>
>>73087573
i don't really use them that much, it's more of visual thing for me so i can visualize all the chord tones and how i can play around with them

if you want to go full arpeggio crazy go listen to some jason becker, that's pretty much all the guy does, fucking arpeggios everywhere
>>
>>73081516
For some reason I badly wanted this guitar when I was 15 years old.

>>73085208
Daisy chain give you recursive electrical noise for each pedal you add. That background buzz when you raison your amp volume very loud, it's gonna get much worst if you have five daisy chained pedals. You might want a good power supply.
>>
>>73087183

Learn the modes of the Major scale and the chords that come from them. It's pretty easy once you get the basic idea into your head and will cover 99% of popular music over the last 50 years.

If you want to play electric guitar music, buy an electric guitar. Your life will be a lot easier and you'll have more fun, motivating you to play more.

If they give you a promotional period (ex: 12 months 0% apr) make sure you pay it off well before then or you'll be stuck paying the interests for the entire year at what is usually a high rate.

Fingers locking is a sure sign of overexertion. Loosen up, keep your fingers curved to fret with the tips and use the bare minimum pressure required to fret the note cleanly.

Pentatonic scales contain a relative minimum of harmonic information most of the time, so if you're playing that set of triads, the I IV V of the key, you're not really encountering much in the way of clashing.

The minor 3rd of the G minor pent *can* fight with the major 3rd of the G triad (and the minor 7th with the major 3rd of the D), but we're extremely accustomed to hearing that interaction and we'll usually just interpret them as a #9 interval.

The minor 7th of the minor pent just creates a G7, its perfect 5th acts as the major 9th of the C, implying a C9, and the perfect 4th creates a D7, which essentially gives us a standard Blues I-IV-V, pretty much fundamental to our folk and popular music.

Once you extend the chords past triads, things get more touchy, but the maj/min pents are still relatively open enough to work with most stuff without too much effort.

just finished building a pedalboard, welded myself a more or less copy of a pedaltrain thing with slightly thinner profile of rails, think an inch or so wide, six of those with also an inch of space inbetween them.

Should I go with velcro or with drilled holes for zipties? Can't decide lads.

Actually on video I think it doesn't look as good as in this picture. From what I've been able to find, the alpine is too white (imo) whereas the aged tends to be a bit too creamy.

Music is something which goes from place A to place B. The ride needs to be exciting for the listener to stay for the whole trip duration.

The base song doesn't have any structure and it swells back and forth on the same shit. Your drummer tries to overperform and his shit doesn't fit at all because he goes insane with his shitty fills.

You need a melody for your solo and then you will progress that into a nice climax. But now it just lacks any kind of structure. It's like your song - it doesn't have a structure or definition.

Rearrange it and add a progression. Fire your drummer.

You probably like faggots like U2 guitarist Slash.
>>
>>73101823
What did you do to your amp to blow a metal film resistor? Those should be good to well over 500V or .25 Watts.
>>
>>73101880
cmon this is facebook tier memeing
>>
>>73101763
You listen to shit music. Did you know that your overvalued musicians like "Jimmy Page" are shit? You probably think Eric Clapton shreds don't you?

It's 1/2 watt carbon film from the look
>>
>>73101910
hes not me, im actually better than you at scales
>>
>>73101939
Amp manufacturers still use carbon film? It's the 21st century, men have walked on the Moon and cured smallpox, there's no excuse for carbon film resistors.
>>
>>73101980
>men have walked on the Moon

>>73101980
Cheap amp, cheap parts. They're more than adequate for my needs most of the time. I plan to use them for some budget tweed deluxes I'm cloning for my little cousin and nephew.
>>
>>73101931
>dissing the Batio
Too far nigger, that man is a goldmine.
>>
>>73102027
I never let anyone else use my tube amp experiments, always worried I might electrocute a friend. And most of them owe me money.
>>
>>73102038
I didn't diss him. Batio is a fucking god. He is the reason I didn't kill myself ten years ago. I took an overdose of valium and ended up in hospital. I went to rehab and accidentally met Dave Mustaine there and he told me that Batio is his godfather and mentor. I still have Dave's number but I haven't talked to him for few years.
>>
>>73102156
I almost got to suck Batio's dick once but when he pulled down his pants I realised that he actually had two dicks. It scared me away.
>>
>>73101910
Not him, but you probably listen to shit music

Now that's a guitar to play sloppy Jimmy Page pentatonics and three cord song structures. You should probably remove the 3 bottom strings because you don't need them.

I don't play arpeggios, per se. I just choose notes from the various inversions along the neck, which makes for some intersting sweeps... Start in one position and then jump to another, etc.

Who do you want to play like? Bruce Springsteen or Jimi Hendrix?

Good stuff and the keys(?) In my right ear were the perfect accompaniment. Just one thing, play the first ten seconds with more feeling or chop it out.
