/mu/ certainly has problems but I don't think /mum/ needs to be "fixed." The biggest problem is waifuposters but they tend to contain themselves in their own little threads baout Grimes/Marina/whoever. I guess if a popular wifu releases a new album then they'll shit up actual discussions but barring that they're easy to ignore and/or filter.

I've been here for years, my taste expanded a lot from essential charts and I listen to a ton more artists and genres that I never would have. Most of them haven't been on essential charts these days but a bunch of them are, because they're just good/made good albums.

Hell, half of the albums on some charts I heard years before I ever visited /mu/. I remember listening to IAOTS in the early-mid 2000s before I even browsed 4chan, was this board never for me/is it not for me anymore becuase I still enjoy albums that are on essential charts for a reason (they're good)?

I agree, and often times the same artists tend to get discussed which gets stale, I've tried to make threads about new albums/artists and they tend to die faster than the ones about /mu/core essential artists do. I think we're on the same page but got off on a strange start.

I do. That was roughly around the time I started browsing here and it seemed better then but there was still a ton of memes and shitposting, maybe I am viewing it through nostalgia-vision, but I feel the people who just join now get a worse experience than I did when I first joined, which is sad. I just feel that way because this board really did a ton in terms of expanding my musical taste by a huge amount, but also gave me a fun place to talk about the music I was discovering as well as getting more and more new recommendations that I would have even missed if I was discovering artists through the methods I do now.

I think ultimately the less political/bait/shitposts there are the better. We will always have a fair amount, and some are okay and can be fun, but lately it seems they're just tired and annoying. Maybe I'm getting old, who knows.
