jaguars are underrated and often mocked on here, they have some of the best equipment and design, I love them. you don't even need humbuckers to get great sound, but you can get them with humbuckers if you prefer, but I honestly don't feel they're necessary. their single-coil versions are just so solid on their own.

jazzmasters are okay for specific circumstances, but they're not usually that great if you like heavy distortion. you can get them with humbuckers as well, I'd always recommend the H version instead of the single-coil soap-bar versions. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I think any soap-bar pickup (whether jazzmaster single coil or P90) just makes the guitar look ugly as shit, so take a grain of salt with my opinion on this one.

I know you didn't mention it, but mustangs are surprisingly underrated and have a pretty good albeit unique sound, and are my favorite "sit down and have a jam" guitar just because they're small and light. they still sound and feel great though. it's too bad they fucked with the design though. I liked the old-style bridge, (mostly just looked cooler)

all of these guitars aren't really good if you like to change modes on the fly though, they all have fairly complicated controls with exception to the jagmaster.

jag-stangs on the other hand are garbage-tier grunge trash shit and whoever thought they were a good idea should be shot. fucking kurt cobain and his retarded dumbassery ruining perfectly good lines of guitars.

I'm looking for a new guitar and I came across two interesting guitars.
The first one is a Japanese Fender Jazz Bass with a Precision Bass neck from the 90's for 440 bucks. The second one is a Fender HSS Japanese Stratocaster for 580 bucks. Which one is the best bargain? I live in Norway, so this is hella cheap!

From what I've read, the Japanese made some sick Geddy Lee signature Jazz bass, I wouldn't know if that one is anywhere close to Lee's awesome J but give it a try and see if you like it.

If you get the guitar first then keep a lookout for Mark Hopper's signature bass. As much as I hate Blink 182, it one sweet bass.

It's a has the body of a Jazz but with the neck of a P bass and comes with that classic P style pick up.

Geddy Lee signature basses are no longer produced in Japan. There are 2 variants now; the American version and the cheaper Mexican version, the Mexican models are pretty solid as far as I heard though, but I never tried one myself. Anything made pre 2011-ish is Japanese.

Sounds like some neck and bridge single coils, run together, through a fender style amp on the edge of breakup, lots of reverb.

As far as getting a good tone, it's a lot of experimentation, really. Take note of what guitar sounds you like on records, see what stuff they use/do with their stuff, then try to play around and make it your own.

is there a word for the technique where you play a chord and then do some hammer-ons or pulloffs to create a melody within the chord while it's still playing?

like, imagine you're strumming a D-major X 0 0 2 3 2 and then hammer the E string into X 0 0 2 3 3, or a Dsus.

While you're going to have diminishing returns getting MIA over standard MIM, there are still some nice things about them, they tend to have better pickups, better feel, slightly better craftsmanship. Is it that much better? Not really, no. If you're a decent guitar player you can get a good sound out of any guitar, however cheap or expensive. it's mostly about craftsmanship and feel when you start buying high, not too much else.

If you're trying to justify buying cheap in terms of sound, that's fine, you can get great sound out of (almost) any guitar if you're good enough.

Definitely not going to feel the same when playing it though. Saying that MIM/MIA is identical is definitely untrue.

Yea, if you buy a cheap guitar and swap out the pickups you can probably emulate the sound of the higher end guitars. There's no real denying that, if that's what you want to do that's fine.

But again like I said, any good guitar player is going to get great sound out of almost any guitar. That's pretty much a fact.

But if you are a richfag and want all those things in one package, buying an expensive guitar is also fine too if that's what they really want.

When my friend got his Gibson signed Tom was impressed because everyone else brought him that epi trash that he doesn't even play. He doesn't even give them a second look but when he got the Gibson he said how impressed he was and picked it up and played it.

Gibson made a run of 339 studios inspired by Tom's gibson. ITs got one dirty fingers and the same specs. The guitar itself is slightly smaller.

Get this guitar instead. MUCH BETTER than the epiphone and they sell for low price because ES fans typically don't like dirty fingers or the lack of the neck pick up.

The second video is a custom shopJaguar with Seymour Duncan invaders through a mesa triple rectifier with the gain all the way up on a clean tone and a flanger.

I've played the Thinline and I like it alot. Seems really nice for a MiM. The bridge is the only non US part and if you get it in sunburst or natural (the only two for the Thinline, dunno about deluxe) You get it in two pieces of wood, which is the same as the USA shop.

The wide range humbuckers are actually weaker output than the true vintage ones.

If you want to be true 72 you should replace. However, I think they sound pretty good but I like vintage range humbuckers.
