FWIW so far I've mostly been doing single string runs of p-a-m-i with a metronome trying to push the bpm a little further every day.

Do you have any thoughts on the most effective way to practice speed?

I remember reading, when I was practicing piano, that the playing is different enough under high speeds for brief fast attempts to be more useful than super slow and careful practice. I've had some luck with specific ideas done faster but slow metronome work has always been helpful.

I feel like some of the more impressive stuff I learn is not even consciously practiced (with exercises/drills/metronome).

Asked this in old thread:

Are guitar and bass even relevant in music anymore?

What are some up and coming artists or bands who make music with guitars? I don't mean underground bands with a devoted scene, I mean who is doing something new and relevant to contemporary popular music that isn't just a revival of old styles like garage rock or post punk?

>I mean who is doing something new and relevant to contemporary popular music

Pop music hasn't been innovative for 20+ years dude. All current (electronic based) pop music is just ripping off the 80s and 90s styles. Pop bands that use guitars are no more guilty of rehashing ideas than the electronic artists are.

In either case the real innovation always happens in the underground and pop musicians borrow from it.

I love Eric Johnson, it's a real shame that no one really knows him outside of guitar circles, Cliffs of Dover-aside. Guy's got chops out the ass and a great ear for pop songs, as well as having quite a nice voice in that sickly sweet kind of way.

You know as well as I do that the order you use your fingers depends on the demands of the music.
I stick to classical, but on the occasion some of the songs require rasgueado. One in particular I remember was on a piece called Koyunbaba, in the fourth movement I had to start a distinct triplet pattern on the 5th and 6th strings, first using an upstroke of the thump(p), then rake with the index(i), the doing downstroke with the thumb.

No one is surprised. It's because 4chan started as an anime forum but now there are other boards dedicated to other topics besides anime therefore anime doesn't really belong on said boards. Now, you can of course choose to post said cartoons those if you wish, just don't be surprised when you get bullied for watching cartoons that are stupid and of no value.

"We are constantly railing against the passions; we ascribe to them all of man’s afflictions, and we forget that they are also the source of all his pleasures … But what provokes me is that only their adverse side is considered … and yet only passions, and great passions, can raise the soul to great things. Without them there is no sublimity, either in morals or in creativity. Art returns to infancy, and virtue becomes small-minded."

I have inherited a lot of Guitar stuff, that I intend to sell as it has no real sentimental value.

I didn't take photos or write down models like a moron and I want to see if any are worth above £100, I was wondering if anyone knew from description.

First is an epiphone, it looks like an SG from what I can tell, but where the bottom is normally rounded, its "Pincer" like, much like the top of the body. It is black, and has a riveted metal plate.

Second is a Yamaha bass that is white, looks very modern and the volume and tone dials light up.

Thats all I can remember for now. I know the shit like Yamaha Pacifica and PRS'
>>

Bugera are ok. Good at the price. Dont expect a tank of an amp. Lifespan can be bad. Quality errors etc. Theyve gotten better but arent built to withstand much.

I blew a speaker today, which got me thinking of a replacement. The way I shape my distorted tone is I run my overdrive into an EQ pedal that has it's gain set to the maximum, shapes the overdrive tone a bit, and adds a LOT of low frequencies. It sounds great, at least to me, but the tone, as I recently had found out, was paramount in breaking the speaker. So what speaker could withstand these settings, whilst also giving me good clean tones?

Maybe I'll get one if I start listening to more surf rock.
>>
I want a Mesa Boogie lonestar head, not a combo

There's a ton of good deals on used 2x12 combos with shitty open back cabinets

I can't find a single used head.

Why are you fucked buying combos en masse, you can't even do fun suboctave shit with an open back cab
>>
>>72740234
why? what difference does it make? everyone uses delay
>>
>>72740322
Meh, I like reverb to make the sound bigger but delay doesn't really appeal to me except for a short slapback (surf rock) or for 2 songs where it's set to 3/16ths (Echo Song and Surrounded). I'd rather have a loop station 2bh
>>
>>72740467
Get a DL4 which does both
>>
>>72740520
>Line6
I might, later. Just bought a guitar, that's enough money spent for a couple months.
>>
Bluesdriver is a good overdrive pedal right?
>>
>>72736107
it's 0% for the first year
then the APR is like 15-20%
and they lock you into 24 or 36 month payment plans
so you get assraped
>>
>>72740617

>>
>>72736728
