Meh, they're getting better all the time and I can personally vouch for their DI boxes. They have a 3 year warranty. Other pedals are nicer but honestly I just like how that one sounds. A bit like a super crunch box on the Marshall setting but with a better top end. Behringer does cheap shit the right way... for the most part. Me, literally two days ago. Have Lace Alumitones in one guitar. If you dial back the tone, they go from fat single coil, to a humbucker sound.

Works well on my dynasonic jet too: somtimes the highs can be too brittle with my AC30 when you OD it with single coils and you don't dial the amp back.

Now I can stay comfy and just roll back the tone. Feels good man.

I would expand your budget if you can, to maybe 500ish, opens up a lot more options. If you can't, find a good solid body epiphone, and switch the pickups out later. But even if you do that, you're still spending about 500 anyway to get it to sound decent.

I guess this helps me a little as well; still undecided since the LTD has an EMG 60 in the neck and an 81 for the bridge while the Schecter has a tappable 81 neck and 89w for the bridge. I'm leaning towards the Schecter since it has a 25.5" neck and tappable pickups but from what I read people love the 60/81 combination (which the EC1000 has). I am open to other options though.

Also how are DBZ guitars? Only reason I am bringing them up is because several showed up while browsing through Reverb and I haven't heard of the brand before.

Fair enough. I'm not expecting some luthier quality instrument and if I dump money into something guitar related it'd be a good tube bass amp+cab and a good 5 string. I just want something that is a step up from a guitar with sharp fret ends, shitty bridge with stripped out adjustment screws, and weak sounding pickups.
