Currently EXTREMELY torn between buying the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless and the PXC550. The differences are minute, but I have to choose and it's killing me.

I can recommend from personal experience either the Sony MDR-V6 or the Sennheiser HD 598. The Sennheiser headphones are my personal favorite, they have an amazing open sound stage and an amazing sound quality I haven't heard from any headphones under $300 but they're kind of slow so the sound can get muddy if you listen to really fast really clean recordings, but only then. The Sony headphones have a narrower sound stage and in my opinion don't sound nearly as good (still an amazing pair of headphones, nothing better under $100) but a more accurate sound, very clean and clinical, they didn't chug at anything I threw at them. The V6's have much much better isolation to boot and they're a lot more portable. You could get away with using the V6's as an at home + portable set while if you wore the HD598's anywhere there was a lot of noise you couldn't hear your music and if you wore them somewhere there wasn't a lot of noise everyone could hear your music as clear as if you had a pair of speakers around your neck.

I have these. The one thing I hate the most is that the silicone ear tips fall out constantly if you're not using the case. Already lost 3. Sound quality probably isn't much better than $10-20 chink IEMs. The remote is really convenient, really the only reason to have them though, so they are overpriced

Love them.

I refuse to buy an amp out of fear that everybody that shills them are just doing it to feel better about wasting a bunch of money. I'd expect a negligible difference at best. I don't want people that insist they hear improvement in flac over 320kbps to tell me I need amps to get the most out of my headphones.

If a normal human being, not a fucking wacko audiophile living in fantasy land wanna tell me that there is a real difference to using amps feel free to do so. I wish I could test it myself, but I just cannot trust audiophiles ever, they fall for the dumbest snake oil shit imaginable. It annoys the shit out of me that these people are trying to insist they hear improvement in flac when their human biology says otherwise.

>Blah blah blah snake oil blind tests shills etc.

If you are happy with the volume of your music you don't need an amp. I wasn't as I have high impedence headphones that are difficult to drive, making my music far too quiet for my liking. That is why I needed an amp; the amp resolved the issue.

If you are happy with the quality of your music source you don't need an external dac. I wasn't, as my motherboard was fucking shit at the time and the amp (through increased volume) made its failings even more obvious. The dac resolved this.

Finally, you don't need to bother with lossless music unless you have excellent headphones, an amp, arguably a decent dac AND you are anal enough to hear the difference and find it distracting. I actually can so all my music is in lossless now. There is nothing pseudo-scientific about this, humans don't fucking hear in bitrates so don't try and make it out that hearing the difference between compressed and lossless is biologically impossible. The blind tests are unreliable as it is largely down to the user, their expectations, the and the equipment. Some people can hear the difference, some people cannot, some just don't have the quality of setup to be capable of it. There is no conspiracy here.

Certainly to me lossless music is quite a substantial improvement for well-recorded albums, but then I have audio equipment that is good enough to benefit from lossless. It's not even expensive when compared to how much an old hi-fi system used to cost.

It's not for everyone and if you are happy with MP3 I don't look down on you for that whatsoever, it still sounds good. I am more than happy to use MP3 and inexpensive in ear headphones on my phone, tablet etc. as there's no benefit to lossless with such equipment. It just annoys me that some people appear to think lossless is complete bullshit when their system isn't good enough to reap the benefits or they are just not particularly bothered by sound quality.

Can confirm. Own both, 50's are so much better for pretty much the same price if watch for deals.
>>
>>72503870
Had them for a while. You're not going to find anything much better at that price point
Stick with them until you can invest in a substantial improvement
>>
>>72503870
I never understood why people recommended those, I realllly disliked those. I guess they would beat some shitty muddy bass crap but theres waaaaay better stuff for the money, how much did you pay? Also where are you from
>>
>>72504274

I paid 25 CAD for them off Ebay

I'm from Canada
>>

I guess you cannot complain if you paid 25 bux IMO when you spend 50 dollars on Takstars on aliexpress then they will blow those out of the water. I would not mind having to listen to Takstars for the rest of my life, I listen to Fidelio X2s at the moment. Here is a link if you ever find yourself 50 bux of money well spent:

I have the ISK and they are comfortable, high end audio and cheap as chips. Highly recommended. I've also the SH9500 and they are a great buy also.
>>
>>72505140
i shouldve said I dont have the Closed Takstars, I have the Open ISK headphones and so I guess I cant personally recommend the Closed headphones as I never heard em but I expect them to be good also. Read up if youre interested. They sounded better than the 100 dollar Sennheisers at the store IMO. so it'd be a no brainer

>mee m6 pro at school (they're ok, treble is fatiguing imo)
>koss ksc75 for misc use like going for walks and bringing them on vacation (they're like $15 and beat my m6s, just buy them. They are semi open and look goofy though so be wary of surroundings)

what pads did you get?

I can't remember they are velour though. I think they're made to fit for the AKG k240 or something.

I think it was from amazon.

And also the Shure SE535 for on-the-go listening

Music wasn't meant to be artificially reproduced or amplified at all, unfortunately I can't afford a private string quartet in residence and the folk group at my local pub gets a bit dull after a while.

Heads up to any m40x/m50x owners

If you like the headphones but hate the stock pads like I did, drop some cash on the brainwavz delta pads - they make them actually wearable
