Studio. Preferably Facelift or Dirt era. I know there's a difference but I think his tone on both of those albums was amazing.

>>71698680
Studio us always hard. there's so much post prod that only something like a kemper or axe fx and lot of time can do it.
>>
>>71698778
Damn. Thanks anyway m8. I've been reading he would blend several amps together in the studio and even used a prototype Mesa Daul Rectifier along with Marshalls and Bogners. I feel like a Marshall would best capture his Facelift era tone though.

What would suggest for sounding like him live? Just out of curiosity.

Years ago I've had an electric before but all that I've learned were some meme riffs like Wasted Years, Iron Man etc.
Now that I have money I want to buy myself an instrument. I'm thinking bass or electric and I have to many inspirations for both to choose what I'd like to do.

The Dark Terror has more gain.

You buying with USD? Cause since that's made in China now it costs $1000.

You can buy it's little brother, the 6505+ MH, for literally half, $500. It won't sound quite like a regular one, what with it using EL34s (I think).

If you got a 2x12, or 4x12 you should be alright though. Would hope have enough bottom end.
>>
>>71701546
Nah, its in CAD, but thanks for the heads up. I just checked the price on the 6505+ MH and its $700, which is still a substantial difference. I suppose I don't need to buy the highest end model (especially if its not American-made), so I'll definitely looking into getting the MH. Thanks anon!

transcribing your own shit is super hard and a fantastic lesson
that's why you should record all your stuff always so you can listen to it in half time over and over till you can write it down or figure it out again
and the 'what the fuck how did I do this' from a really inspired moment instead of connecting your favorite licks is completely normal and really helps you refine both your vocabulary and technique

you can record directly on your computer like with the apogee jam or a lexicon alpha and have a digital amplifier.

alternatively, if you're not a total fruitcake and don't want it to sound like total ass, you can buy a mic, a preamp and then record like that.

i have a shure sm58 (which granted, is a vocal mic but what am i, a millionaire) and i use a dbx 286s as a preamp, then i plug those into the lexicon alpha (lmao) and put that shit in logic.

this is the most diy i could do

jimmy page plays with feeling though. watch his face when he plays. he makes regular licks sing like nobody else
>>
>>71706792
Most people do this to some degree or another. It's really next to impossible to have a "completely original" improv. It's all going to be licks and runs that you're fairly familiar with, but maybe putting a twist on it like starting on a different beat or holding some notes longer, and the way you tie them together with other licks you know will make it more unique sounding.

>>71706730

>>
>>71707056
depends on what you play

honestly the quality of the bass matters more. unless you play a lot of modern metal that needs the low b. i'm sure there are a few other genres that need it as well
>>
>>71707109
I don't play much metal at all, I'm much more into funk/jazz/house/etc
>>
>>71707142
you shouldn't really need the fifth string (though there's really nothing wrong with having it either)

my first bass was a 5 and now I play a 6, i will say that if you ever want to play on more than 4 strings in the future you'd be better off starting with 5.

it's a nice option to have is all. you won't be using it a lot of the time, you just get to do more in certain hand positions.

How does it compare to a regular JM? I know there's no rhythm circuit. Does the maple neck make a huge difference?

Deciding between the 60s Lacquer (seafoam green) or the American Professional (sonic gray).
>>
>>71707056
Either is fine, but if you think you'll end up using a 5 for certain covers or something go for it. I personally like 4 string, because I play with a pick fairly often. They're just a tad more comfortable to use a pick with. If you're just starting out, but sure to play with a pick and with fingers. Bassists are in love with dynamics, so playing in multiple styles is really worth it.

>>
>>71707749
Have you tried either of them out in a store? That would be the fastest way to choose.

The 60's lacquer is essentially the best quality MIM JM they offer. Made with american parts and all. But other than the spiffy neck, it's not THAT much better than some of the cheaper offerings. The neck is nice though if you're into tinted gloss finishes and vintage frets. Which I totally am.

If you haven't tried out one of the Professional series necks, you should. Regardless of model. They're actually really nice even if they're a bit different. The lack of rhythm circuit was actually a plus for me as well. I hate the one on my Jag Bass.

It's funny you mention the 60's lacquer as it was also my other choice when I was shopping. But once I held the professional in my hands I was sold. Hope that helps.
>>
>>71707778
Looks like it was made in 99. I've pulled a few results for mexican strats from 99, and they were black pickguard with a black finish.
>>
>>71707594
Just got a response back from Fender, I had emailed them a couple days ago with the serial number asking for info. They sent me the full spec sheet and it said the pickguard was 3-ply white, so it seems like the pickguard was replaced at some point. >>71707916

Yo guys, I have a 1x15 Orange bass cab and it's sweet, love it. What's a good cab to pair with it?

It doesn't have to be an Orange cab just as long as it's under 500. I can push to 800 if it's really good. Haven't decided if I should pick up a 10" or 12" speakers in the cab to run with my 15". If not I might even pair my Orange 1x15 with another 15" like another Orange cab to make a full stack rig.

>>
>>71710400
Not guthrie?
>>
>>71710516
learn the modes' intervals
be able to play intervals the whole neck
then you can play any scale
>>
>>71710150

My Granddad left me his Hofner Senator ~1964 Original. I don't play guitar or anything but any thoughts on it? Is it a good guitar? And yes my room is messy
>>
>>71710516
add the blues note then play that
then take away the blues note and add the 6th and 7th and play the pure or natural minor scale

>>71710556
dont listen to this retard

John Lennon played a senator in the early beatles days
>>
>>71711478
No, he played a Club 40. He was never pictured with a Senator and there's no proof he played one.
>>
>>71711050
haha good too know. Probably a bit wasted on a pleb like me

>>71711050
My grandad was a big Cash fan. I have a vague memory of him telling me he met and jammed with him. So it would have to be that

>My grandad was a big Cash fan. I have a vague memory of him telling me he met and jammed with him. So it would have to be that

Holy shit man, your grandfather was cool. I think you should keep the guitar and learn to play, then pass it on to someone else later. Keep it in your family.

>M-Muh LTD IS JUST AS GOOD
>YOU'RE DUMB FOR BUYING A GUITAR THAT COSTS MORE THAN 100
>ITS JUST A PIECE OF WOOD
>J-JUST SWAP OUT THE PICKUPS
>I-ITS UST AN INSTRUMENT ALL THAT MATTERS ITS THE PLAYER

Things poorfags will say when they read this.

Cali got all pissed off and banned you from saying this if any part is not made in the USA. SO if the amp had a knob made in taiwan and everything else was in USA they aren't allowed to say made in the USA.
>>
>>71711855
it IS literally just a piece of wood
and really all that matters IS the player

it's a shame you have such a silly warped view of things and are only concerned with making "memes" for some stupid guitar thread on 4chan.
>>
>>71709033
No.

Humbucker in bridge, P90 in neck is patrician pickup layout.
>>
>>71711916
That's what I said I wanted to do
>>
will i notice difference in sound between my zoom g1xon's wah and a expensive vox wah
>>
>>71711964
Not as much as changing the metal in your bridge
>>
>>71709033
p90 sized humbucker wont sound like a regular humbucker so why even, just stick with a p90
>>
>>71711870
Yeah, that's not how this works. California doesn't dictate that shit.

That amp is fucking Chinese. That curry nigger Misha is going to make a killing. All his loyal followers will sell their AXE-FXs in droves to get that 5150 copy.

paul looks tweaked out of his mind in that

were they still speed freaks after germany?
>>
>>71711996
ah ok
>>
>>71711996
humbuckers like that sometimes have output issues, i owned a guitar with one of those things in the bridge and the single coil in the neck completely overpowered it so be careful bro
>>
>>71712141
that means nothing
the overwounds of my strat sound bassier, and probably also louder, than my lespaul's superdistortion
>>
>>71711855
What about a mexican guitar that costs 900 dollars?
>>
>>71712020
oh yeah, they were taking speed even til abbey road
