It's part of the Iron Label series so it's OK. Pretty much just a premium series designed for metal so your looking at a pretty middle of the road metal guitar but for a few hundred more you can get a prestige

Its an Iron Label RGD. It's not mine, but I did play this exact model in my local guitar shop. Lot of shops around here seem to have them for whatever reason.

Anyways, it was alright. The neck felt bigger than my prestige's, to the point that I had to double check to make sure it wasn't a seven string.

For $900, I'd save up the extra $200 - $300 and buy a made in glorious Nippon Prestige.

Hey guys I've been playing guitar for four years. What are some songs I could learn that could show for it? I feel like all I can do at the moment,to is play over backing tracks, I'm learning "it will come back" by Hozier at the moment.

Would prefer to learn a grunge or bluegrass rock song, but doesn't really matter.

Can I put a used neck that came from a 25.5" scale length guitar on a guitar that has a 24.75" scale length? Theyre both bolt-on designs. I just want to know if it will still intonate.
>>
>>71688090
No you tune it to standard, it's just that the longer scale length will help with intonation in lower tunings at the expense of chord fretting on the first few frets due to their larger size

My PXL10 honestly was my dream guitar and I just bought her last December, those ltds are the only things I really want now aside from maybe a schecter hellraise or anything that has a les paul body, like a les paul. The ltd-f only because I really do need a new bass as much as I love my squire p-bass, and when I was a puppy picking out my first electric, the ltd f-10 was the one I wanted (until this fuck bought it for his sun as I was walking in the door!)

should i get a cheap bass and amp or a midrange guitar? i want to play groovey bass lines but i also want a guitar with good playability
>>
>>71689362

What do you NEED right now? If you need a bass I'd say the bass, however, it doesn't sound like you can afford the bass that would be worth what you need either. Go to music go Round and look at used gutiars, basses, and bass amps. Ampeg bass amps are yum, and you will find a good guitar and bass for $200 cheaper than if you bought it new, not to mention talking to the music shop milf at the counter
>>
>>71689357
Don't fill it, you'll block the tone flow control current. It needs air to breathe, this way it can resonate and sustain correctly.

In that case it's worth getting the bass if you want the bass, I used only vsts for my bass for years before I bought a bass amp (well I used my ibanez 10w high gain one channel amp for my bass to, those little critters work for bass to) but it's worth it overall, I saved up after that so I could get my pxl10 and I'm happy but it made me feel good that I had a diverse spectrum of sound first

Yeha this place is literally full of high school faggots who can't afford to spend more than $100 on a guitar and get all pissed if you imply that spending more on gear is a good idea.

However, that is a good deal. BUT you should keep in mind that Twin Reverb tube amps are designed to sound good at loud volumes. That means playing large venue.

You won't be able to even use it for practice in a residential area (and get the classic twin sound anyway).

The Princeton reverb is basically this amp but at a low volume.

Thats the good thing about having a basement setup in the burbs, most of the is absorbed by the ground before the neighbors hear it. Although if I'm honest My amps are pretty loud, but pail in comparison to the loudness I had with my old 1969 Blue Line SVT I used to own, that was on a whole other level of volume, pic related.

So I'm not illiterate when it comes to hardware and mechanical stuff (esp. since I studied machining in school) but I genuinely do not understand how to do electrical wiring stuff. I was young and stupid, thought it was to heavey for a gigging amp (and lets be real it kinda was at 85 lb's), and I traded it for an Eden rig which I ended up trading off down the road. I knew then what I knew now I would've kept it. Now I have a '73 Sound City that I recently got and restored to take it's place as a reminder to keep this Big vintage amp around longer unless something better comes within reach. I'll be sure to get another one down the road tho, probably one of the Newer SVT-VR since they are more reliable as new amps.

I like it because the simplicity made me learn how to get more sounds out of just the knobs on my guitar and my pick attack. I like both and plan to keep both. They are different. The AC4 is also a bit more convenient for bringing to a practice somewhere. If I had to keep only one it would be the blues jr. Its a bit more versatile, more gig worthy, and its cleaner, you can add pedals if you want more gain on a clean amp, but you cant really clean up a dirty amp.

Hello, this isn't thread related but not worth its own thread, I was in a Punk/emo thread a few weeks ago, and someone posted an album, and I am trying to find it again, It was like a dark metal, with abrasive guitars, and really dark lyrics, the guy who posted it said somthing like this, "here is an album, at first i thought it was like another dark metal album, but as it went on it got darker and darker, it was quite disturbing," any help finding it would be appreciated.

I went to an amp shop, tested 50 amp and got home with the dark terror.
I dont need anything else.

The only use for kemper is a heavy touring band that wants to sacrifice a little sound and presence to much much easier logistic.
And even then they have an army of studio slave to perfectly clone the original amp in a studio amd they use the kemper for that one (1) tone they use.

Most of the "muh infinity" kemperfags are not even guitarists.
They masturbate on forum talking about tones and at home they always try to tweak tones on their pc for months instead of actualy playing.

Any recomendations for a good distortion pedal? I've tried a DS-1 a Rat and a Big Muff ( I know it's a fuzz) and of the 3 I kinda prefer the sound of the DS-1 with the tone around 9 or 10 o'clock. I don't understand what you're saying.

I know a bit about pickups and types make a serious difference, especially if your amp is very clean or doesn't color your tone much. Everything's relative in that way. If you're cranked to 10 then yeah, it's pretty hard to tell one guitar from another.

I do agree that price wise, there's barely any pickups out there that justify more than a hundred dollars, and even those are only worth it until a cheaper knockoff arrives.

IMO you can definitely get your dream setup(tonally) from your guitar for under $500 no matter what it is. So if that's what you meant then I agree 100%.

Thank god for modern manufacturing.

I mean, hunting Craigslist takes longer but the yield is a lot better. As far as just buying some shit retail, the 'tar you're talking about is a good choice. But really, you can get some sexy guitars for $330 on CL.
>>
>>71697575
Then sure go for it. I'd recommend going into a local store and playing it yourself, along with a few others, and choosing the best sounding one.

I was dead set on some Ibanez acoustic a few years ago but then went into the store to get it and tried a Yamaha APX500III and it was a little cheaper yet sounded far better than any other guitar in that price range. So I went for that even though I preferred the look of the Ibanez.

I have some Seymour Duncan's but I gotta say even though they delivered the expected tone, the tolerances were very poor and I had to repair an internal loose wire under the cover within a week of buying one. I wouldn't have gone with them if a clone was out there. GFS is much higher quality in my experience. I trust them a lot more.

I ended up having to unwind the Duncan to get it to fully noise cancel, the resistances were too far apart.

The only local place that carries non-Martins here is Guitar Center. Plan on going tomorrow, I hate playing in public though. I keep hoping no one will come up and be like "bro play wonderwall"
>>71697589
CL here isn't too great. Lots of scalpers and just not good equipment circulating. It sucks, but I scored my MiM Telecaster off it for $250, only thing wrong was a rusted out pickup.
>>
>>71697632
>I keep hoping no one will come up and be like "bro play wonderwall"

Kek. Trust me m8, nobody in guitar center will WANT to hear Wonderwall. I usually try to stick with making shit up when trying out a guitar in a store. Or I try playing something relatively obscure so if someone does recognize it then it won't be annoying.

>playing guitar through my POD with headphones

I can't even practice silently with no amp for fucks sake. Fuck I wish I lived in a cabin in the middle of nowhere.

I had some guy who could barely speak English come up to me when I was trying out a bass(slapping) and ask of I could play any nirvana.

Yeah so you can have no time to actually learn guitar or be in a band and then end up like every other guitar playing cunt out there who does nothing with their talent.

I've been trying since last year. I don't get any responses to my applications.

Marshall JCM900 for $550. Should I do it?

Yes. Now.

Yes

Seems really low right? Says it's an SL-X if that implies anything important. I'm just afraid there's something wrong with it. I might go up to the store tomorrow and try it out.

I'm capping this. its pure gold

I've been looking at upgarding to a Marshall. Guitar Center has a good deal on the DSL100s but would it be a good idea to get an older one like a JCM900 or 2000 used? How do they compare to the DSL amps?

could someone recommend me a cheap half-acoustic guitar?
>>
>>71697958
I've heard bad things about the DSL amps. They're made in Taiwan or some shit which is why they're cheap. I would imagine you could get roughly the same tones but that the DSL has more gain. Also 2 channels.

Personally I'd go with an 800 or 900. But if you want a high gain amp then you'd be better off with a 2000 or the DSL100. Or just save up and get a Mesa.

Epiphone Joe Pass is a decent choice too

Are you fucking kidding? The 900 is the tits, 800 is played out and flabby.

One of Marshall's best ever tones is the JCM 900 on Channel A and cranked the shit out of it with a TS-9.

I massively regret selling mine for a Plexi reissue.

There's one for sale near me as a 1x12 and I've pondered about buying it as it's criminally cheap.

>want to learn guitar
>lefty
>great dexterity and speed with left hand
>right hand is slow and clumsy at best

which will be a greater detriment, playing normal and having my retarded hand strumming or playing lefty and having my retarded hand on the neck?
>>
>>71698252
Would you recommend it over a 2000 or DSL100?
>>
>>71698317
Never understood why lefties want to play left handed guitar since the difficult work is done with the left hand. Just play a regular guitar.
>>
what's the best wood for an electric guitar? does alder sound different than mahogany or ash?
>>
>>71698368
Honestly that's what I kinda figured, seems like unless you want to do something unique or weird your right hand has the easy job and lefties would kinda have a natural advantage at least in the earliest stages.
I know I've just heard people act like you absolutely need a lefty guitar for whatever reason.
>>
>>71698393
I might be completely wrong but I feel like a big factor in why left-handed guitar playing took off was the fact that Hendrix played one. So when people who were lefties heard that they were encouraged by it and decided that was a good idea.

Of course Hendrix actually played a standard guitar backwards from what I've heard.

You try and play a left handed guitar. That's what it's like for a lefty playing a right-handed guitar.

Christ this board is full of dumbshit 15 year olds.
>>
>>71698442
I've had both. JCM 800 is so overrated if you want to play anything other than hair metal.

Really regret getting rid of the 900.

>>71698358
Yeah absolutely.
>>
>>71698511
If you've never picked up a guitar and you're a lefty then it makes sense to start with a standard guitar.
>>
>>71698368

I have been playing 6 years this year.

I have never learned a solo or a song all the way through and don't know my pentatonic scale yet, I've been meaning to learn it these past couple years.

How far behind am I and where should I be at this point?
>>
>>71698962
I've been playing for almost a year now and i can improvise a solo. Learn the fucking pentatonic scale, you should also have learned the major scale and it's modes by now.
