who's that band you got on twice as current inspiration and favorite band?

lel Green Day... I don't like that band either but I have to admit Dirnt has a sick bass tone live and recorded

>Earthquaker pedals
nice
love that Acapulco Gold. Afterneath must sound amazing next to a digital delay. Analog + Digital delays = sexy
>>
>>71022446
The band is lightning bolt

And yeah the Afteneath works really good with the delay, but you gotta dial it in just right so it doesn't get lost in the mix but otherwise sounds fantastic
>>
>>71020959
Yeah, not really my cup of tea, but they do seem to be pretty good

Damn I'm actually digging this band.

Also what do you think of the Acapulco Gold? First time I'm looking into it, seems like a fantastic distortion pedal, but that might just be the marketing getting to me.

not him but for me I love me that Sunn Model T sound at a fair price instead of me tracking down a vintage model t of course

it's got 1 dial super simple for me cause i'll always be fidgeting around with the knobs looking for the right eq

it can handle deep distortion and those clean tones like sound like they're coming out of a cranked amp perfectly

it's really loud though an eq pedal right after the fuzz can help calm down this beast

a boost pedal and overdrive can really bring out even more dimensions of tones out of this pedal

hear it

I think it's legit, did you check the link I posted, the specs match the guitar for sale. Fender does small runs (FSR) of colors and options that they normally don't do in their regular lineup. Sometimes they make as few as 50 guitars.
>>
>>71023912

I have my eye on the RG421EX for $544aud and the RG121EX for just $345aud.

Only difference is the more expensive one has a Mahogany body rather than Poplar and Quantum H ceramic pups rather than Infinity R pups.

Any feedback on either of these guitars?

They come both at the same time usually.

Like, melody and riff to come out first and usually in just a couple minutes, or vice versa riff then melody. Song concept is usually there in a couple minutes, keep building block by block. Occasionally i gotta record a rough version to get a final verse or bridge figured out.

Then refine it, put twists or nuances in, make sure all the lyrics and delivery fit. Figure out parts to layer.

Usually by then ill have a sense of the rhythm, so ill make a drum pattern or hop on the kit and make a loop, then bass just falls in place.
>>
>>71024429
I haven't measured it, but I can do Allan Holdsworth styled chords. Probably between 25 and 30cm from middle finger tip to the base of the palm ?

I only need to replace the treble strings, I'd rather just keep the old bass strings on the guitar and keep these new ones as spares. There's clearly lots of life in these old strings and I fucking hate wasting things.

A few threads ago I had asked about bass playing and keeping a groove in time (rhythm). An anon shared this link with me, which I have a few questions:

It's the rhythm yardstick exercise taking 1 measure and divides it into quarter, 8th, and 16th note timing. I understand the the quarter note exercise (playing on 1, 2, 3, 4) and 8th note (playing on the upbeat "&" - 1 & 2 & 3 & 4) but the 16th note exercise is giving me trouble. I know it's (1 e & a, 2 e & a, 3 e & a, 4 e & a) but I'm having trouble hitting it in the exercise. I think it's because they're keeping a steady rock beat and when I hear 16th note music I think disco (e.g. the hi-hat is getting hit with both drum sticks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3svW8PM_jc).

So I guess my confusion is stemming from an idea that 16th note music has to be fast (see disco example) and can't be used like in the rhythm exercise.

Way too fucking small. I hate my faggot womanly genes that I got from my mother, since they give me small, girly hands, and my pinky is basically useless for anything above the high e string. And every time I watch Hendrix, Buckethead, Gilbert, or any other guitar god with their freakishly long and thin fingers ripping up those frets like nobody's business, it seriously makes me want to just quit learning the guitar, because I know that no matter what, I'll never be as good as them because of a physical shortcoming that I have no control over.

And yes, I've seen videos of little asian girls playing guitar way better than me with their little girl hands. No need to rub it in.

Honestly why don't you buy singles if you break strings? Alternatively fix your guitar/playing so they don't break? I haven't broken a string since the turn of the millenium.
>>
>>71027709
I've bought some singles but they won't arrive till tomorrow, and I managed to break another one so I need to order that really

I'm starting to play solos and metal stuff, which I've never played before (stuff I always used to play was easy shit, finger picking, power chords, jazz type shit, etc.)

So that's why I'm breaking strings
>>
>>71027758
>So that's why I'm breaking strings
No, you're breaking strings because either your bridge is not properly set up or you're using a too thin gauge and too much power when playing.
>>
>>71027690

>>71027709
I never break strings and they're not on long enough to rust, but they die after a few weeks so new ones go on.

I've heard the Django thing before. And also how Iommi lost the tips of two fingers and owned in Sabbath. I know all that, and it doesn't change the fact that my hands are genetically predisposed to be shit for guitar. Those two overcame their shit by adapting the music they play to suit their hands, but that's not really an option for me. Because not only are my hands small, but I've also inherited crooked pinky fingers from my mother, which has a medical term that I've forgotten. Pic related, it's what my hands look like, and trust me when I say it's literally impossible for me to play certain things because of that. For instance, I really love speed/shred metal, and that's what I've always wanted to play, the sweeping scales and sweet solos. But it's looking more and more like I'd have to stick to chords, and that just doesn't bring me any joy in playing.
>>
>>71027792
>they die after a few weeks
The fuck kinda strings are you using? And what the fuck are you doing with them? A pack of Ernie Ball 10-46 regular slinkies lasts me at least a couple of months, and I practice on a daily basis, playing mainly thrash and death metal with plenty of shredding.
>>

The Jazzmaster bridge was the worst guitar-related mechanism Leo Fender ever designed. In fact, saying he designed it does it a service it does not deserve. It's like he just had a bad week, it got to Friday, he put some threaded rods across a metal plate and said fuck it, I'm going home early.

If you get a Jazzmaster with the original bridge, install a Staytrem or Mastery bridge. Otherwise the strings constantly pop out of the threads where they're meant to stay, throws the guitar right out of tune immediately.

Both Fender Bassbreaker 18/30 and Bassbreaker 15 is under €1k in my expensive country.

18/30 gives you 2x12, 15 gives you 1x12. Celestion speakers in both. Full tube amps, ironically they only put fx loop in the Bassbreaker 15 for some retarded reason.
>>
>>71028377
You can intonate a Mastery bridge, the saddles swivel so you can set them at an angle. It's a bit of an inelegant engineering solution but it does fix all the problems of the original.

Samples have been a thing since the Beatles, they're a nifty way to do some studio voodoo, but not in any shape fit for use as "an instrument".

I mean ... ask yourself this question ... if you picked it up in a store and it was that badly finished, would you pay that money over and take it home? Bollocks would you. You'd leave it right there on the rack.
>>
>>71030301

The cost of shipping would probably be the same as it would cost for a little luthing, decent nut etc. This is what you get for buying a guitar over the internet.

The more the merrier I guess
>>
>>71030371
wow, how do you get hold of all your music on vinyl and cassette these days? how do you get the artists to re-record it all on analog tape just for your listening pleasure?

The shops here only sell shite since everybody buys online and they cant afford the licenses, its a vicious circle

Anyone here have any advice on recording acoustics? I've been messing with the few options I have, and while I don't hate what I'm getting, it needs work. I know a lot of people use two mics for acoustics, but I can't do that with what I have.

I used a weird condenser mic about 6 inches above the 15th fret on this recording, angled at about 45 degrees (facing directly at the guitar tends to sound too boomy).

I bought a Schecter Omen-6 a few months ago, and my fretting hand now has scars from all the tears and cuts the fret ends made. It's a great guitar otherwise, but holy fuck do those Indonesian sweatshop monkeys suck at rounding off fret ends.

I'm not really a big fan of this pissypants angry consumer routine, I just get on with my life. Its like 50 euros tops to sort these issues, get to throw some business to a good luthier too.

Fair enough. The last two Strats I bought have gone straight to a luthier to get stainless steel frets installed so I can't complain.
>>
>>71027926
the whole selling point of a jazzmaster is that it sucks. which is a giant perk to hipsters who need indie cred

I've got long spider fingers which is pretty dank for guitar. But I'm a manlet so it all balances out I guess.

Well, assuming you want to be in a shoegaze band, I'd suggest going to wikipedia and looking up the most prominent shoegaze artists. I'm not too knowledgeable on hipster trash either, so I can't give you any examples, but I'm sure you'll find some band names. Then, have a quick listen of their shit on youtube until you hit a band that you want to sound like. Look up their guitarist, and then look up his gear. Get the same pedals, or as close as possible, since hipsters love buying overpriced antique shit even though you can get clones that sound exactly the same for 1/10th of the price, and you're good to go.

Afterwards, drink a nice big cup of bleach to celebrate becoming a shoegaze guitarist.
