I always laugh when I see some dumb shit buy a cheap guitar and immediately start "upgrading" it. They usually start by asking for replacement pickup suggestions. It's like why, you dumb fuck? Why did you buy a guitar you didn't think sounded good to begin with? I'll tell you why: because you don't know what the fuck you're doing and you have no clue what the fuck you're after. You bought some retarded piece of shit because of how it looked in a picture on the internet and then when you got it home and actually played it ..it sounded and played like straight up ass. So you started "upgrading" it instead of admitting to yourself that you don't know shit and made a mistake, or that the guitars construction was so shitty that you didn't have any other choice but to "upgrade" it to make it a playable instrument. Here's the thing though: you could have just saved all the time and money you sank/wasted into "upgrading" a piece of shit and just bought a decent guitar to begin with. You bedroom warriors are a hilarious lot, watching you flail about trying to polish turds into diamonds. If a diamond is what you wanted why didn't you just go out and buy a diamond to begin with?

Because you're fucking stupid, that's why.

the lower 2-3 strings just don't sound very good to most people when played high, especially past the 12th fret. thicker strings need more of themselves available to resonate nicely, too little and it can sound constricted. that said, plenty of bands have made great use of high power chords and made them sound amazing. repeater by fugazi is practically based on them and that's one of the all time greats
>>
>>70886228
if you're just playing at hoime the Blackstar is perfect. Peavey Bandits are really shitty sounding compared to the Blackstar, go from a tube amp to a transistor and you'll be jonesing for the old amp back in no time.

If you're starting to get out gigging then save up for a bigger tube amp. You will not enjoy owning a Peavey Bandit.

I invested so much in this one i pretty much never play my Gibson LP studio or American Standard strat anymore though. Should I sell one of those two or will I regret it?
>>
>>70887588
Nope, although I can see how that would be misleading. In virtually all musical contexts, though, it is assumed that a given chord will include the fifth, which saves time when writing chords shorthand. In a diatonic context, the m7b5 (or half-diminished) chord is spelled as such because the mode from which it is derived (Locrian) contains a flat five and is the only mode of the major scale which has this characteristic. In the context of jazz improvisation, the alt 5 chord (or any other altered chord) would indicate to the musicians the type of scale to be played over that chord, specifically the altered scale, which has a unique, very non-diatonic, "outside" sound that resolves nicely to another diatonic chord.

Nah, he's claiming it's a custom lineout for another speaker. I get what it's supposed to be, but it looks like shit, and it doesn't explain the missing screws. Fuck that. It doesn't help that the price is suspiciously low for that amp (80 euros). I've got an offer for a new Fender Mustang I for 65 euros, I think I'll go ahead and take that offer.

so i'm two years down the road now. i started with a really shitty acoustic and played that for a year, and then i bought a classical last year, and have been getting quite better. my classical doesn't really need upgrading, its a student model but its still real, with a patina and nice finish

however, my acoustic was absolute dog shit, and i finally just got a nice one today. it has bone nut and saddle, rosewood and spruce, solid top, fancy tuning pegs, nice finish, etc. the only thing it doesn't have is an inlay, but i don't need that, and this is nice enough that i am considering buying a second guitar so that i don't have to ever take this one out of the house.

i want a nice guitar strap for it. its got two pegs for a strap, and i didn't want to put one of the shitty straps i already have on an expensive guitar.

any recs?
thinking of a nice leather or something which won't wear out

there's a high chance that if you have any used guitars your guitar has super glue under the nut or frets...or one would hope, because super glue is extremely useful
for seating frets and making nuts not rip out wood when replaced

being that you're pretending to know what you're talking about this probably surprises you
>>
>>70890434
if you superglue a nut in then it's a bitch to get out when it wears down

wood glue for nuts, superglue for frets
>>
>>70890516
nonono don't do that, you use it to set the nut against the fretboard at the front, not the bottom

you do realize the string tension will just hold the nut in place don't you

I don't like pedals. They're a waste of money and they don't make you a better musician. The only exception is a delay/reverb pedal if your amp does not have any, and even then I still don't care enough so I don't need one.

A good amp with a good dirt/clean channel is more important in this day and age to make actual decent band music than anything else right now. Shoegaze and indie fags are ruining the guitar industry with their shit pedalboards, and while I'm at it, they're shit taste in guitars too.

it is a nice practice amp. never gig with one of these amps though, as they sit terribly in the mix and sound muddy as all hell when they get loud.
>>
>>70893680
some good points and bad

of course buying new gear won't make you better, but certain pieces of gear can help you construct your sound and encourage you to experiment/practice more

plus, some genres just require more pedals than others. saying pedals are ruining the guitar industry is like saying
>muh full orchestras are ruining the classical industry! real composers only need a string quartet reeeee

if you play rock, you probably need a bit of crunch so you'll need an overdrive pedal at the very least (unless youre ok with running your tube amp at full volume any time you want to practice)

if you play country, you need some compression and a slapback delay

if you play psychedelic shit, you probably want a fuzz and a wah

if you play indie, you need whatever indie people use, etc etc.

me? i have a looper, a boost/overdrive, a reverb, compressor, delay and chorus. simple pedalboard, compact, not 'collecting' anything, just utilitarian. no reason to say pedals are ruining the guitar industry
