In terms of fender products I agree. The pre-amps in their basses are outperformed by many other companies. The pickups aren't noticeably better than the standard series too. I'm not a fan of the modern fender neck profiles either. The money people spend on american deluxe/elite guitars could be better spent elsewhere. I kinda like some of the ESP japanese super strat models but there are so many better options out there that you are spoiled for choice at that price point.

Hm... Have always wanted to play/learn (classical) guitar, and have been saving for a good first instrument for a good while now.

However, due to recently moving into a student dorm with fairly thin walls, with a couple housemates that work night-shifts, my options for subdued/quiet practice are limited it seems.

Are there other options aside from having to make do with an electric (for the coming 2 years at least) or a somewhat expensive guitar like the yamaha silent guitars?

Not sure about what you mean but before buying a new Strat you can:
-rewire the whole thing properly (and add nice things such as 7way mod, TBX tone...)
-buy new pickups
>train to set up your guitar properly.

And while you're at it, buy a new nut.
>>
>>70786255
Try a pickup change, maybe two humbuckers for a change. You WILL notice a difference.

If you want to justify a new guitar then this is the first step to do it, as you will need to learn how to set up your guitar.

i've messed around with the action and strings and shit
but this is like 7 year old starter kit thing. i feel putting new stuff in it would be a waste of money (unless we're talking like $10 for a pickup lmao)
i think it's just ready for the dump
i'm not sure if the more expensive squires are actually made of wood, but the body of this thing is fibreglass or something.
also it's full of green dust inside?

money isn't really the issue but i'd like to be relatively decent before buying something nice.
and yeah i haven't played much in those 7 years, been on and off with playing. just getting back into it now

No problem. A couple years ago you could still manage to find a vintage one for about a grand. Not bad for a semi rare 30+ year old guitar. They were never really popular, only surf rockers really liked them. The most well known guitar player that used one i dare to say was johnny ramone, and he's not remembered as being a good guitar player.

I want to join a band and make cool songs, but then i remember no much people besides the bandmates would enjoy it because nobody likes guitar music anymore

Getting good at soloing has no value anymore except for playing for yourself at bedroom and recording for your own listening

Maybe recording for youtube and getting a couple comments from old genre fans around the whole world, and other guitarists. Thats all.

>>
>>70788113
Bro, there are still people making old school house music and hip hop with an mpc and a 707. Jist because it's not as popular anymore doesnt mean there arent people that dont want to do it.

It's a good thing for me, the market is less saturated now. You used to be able to walk outside and slap a shitty guitar player who was chilling on your porch listening to avenged sevenfold, now i gotta throw a football 40yards to hit one. Downside is their pedal board will probably block it.

i played a tele back at school years ago and it was a great feeling. so i always wanted one for my own.

if i got a tele id assume id be playing blues and rock forever and not much else

Ej strat is based of the 57 not the modern one.

>It has a soft V neck profile
>57 pickups but with a higher output on the bridge for modern sounds.
>It has the tone wired to theneck instead of middle
>Tuners are vintage but staggered so no tree is needed and they hold tune longer than american standard
>No decal on the headstock actually just the normal fender one
>costs 400 less than the 'vintage' 57 series but is very similiar
>12 inch radius instead of 9 for easier lead; or vintage which is 7
>nitro finsih instead of polyu
>smaller body than modern strats with extra contour
>bound neck
>middle pick up is reverse wound to buck the hum
>medium jumbo frets instead of tall narrow

Honestly poor fags attempting to condescend people who are successful at life is getting annoying in these threads.

Your fucking poor dude. We get it, we're not judging you for only being able to afford your fucking squire bullet.

However, you are not in a position to be a snob and when you do it while other people are talking its just pathetic.

A Strat on the bridge pickup can get fairly close to the Tele bridge sound but the Tele pickup just has more growl and honk, more character than a Strat. And a Strat can never get close to the Tele inbetween sound.
