rec me a guitar. i want something "twangy" and generally bright sounding as i'll be playing a lot of jazz, blues, and country.

I've been eyeing some teles but they're still out of my price range, and if i'm going to get one i want a quality one and not a shitty knockoff or cheap one from the dregs of China or Honduras.

Can we keep talking High end guitars from the other night?

I'm in the market and I want to know opinions.

I want something that can do as close to everything as possible.

Right now I'm strongly leaning towards the EJ Stratocaster at $1850.

What do you guys think?

PRS seems to have nice stuff, I think they are ugly shaped, but they sound great, and I'm instrested in the new Schecter USA lines, anyone have any insight onto this?

That new pine telecaster with the charlie christian neck pickup would be perfect for you since you're playing jazz also, but it's probably going to be a little more expensive.

>>70563278
I've owned by share of MiM, and Squire. The wood isn't dead, the frets aren't filed, the pickups are overwound, the electronics are glued not soldered, the finishes are poorly done, the tuners are cheap, the nuts are cheap and the result is a guitar that warps, can't sustain, sounds like $200, which is ok for metal and nothing else.

I'm not a poor fag so I'm looking for a guitar that is well made and sounds great.

However, if you know some stuff about Fender for example charging $1800 for squire build quality please share.

I'm leaning towards the maple model as it has the updated pickups, the Rosewood one is actually nice though because he tuned the pickups on that model to balance out the mids produced by the wood so you still get a nice smooth less harsh sound.

That Eric Johnson guitar is a good choice. You're at the price point where Fender quality maxes out, anything more expensive will likely not be any better. You're also at the price point where you can commission a custom builder if you want something that feels more handmade.

If you're ever in NYC check out Rick Kelly guitars, they sound and feel amazing. That's one builder's guitars I would prefer to own over a Fender.

Don't be so jealous m8. I run with a bunch of Jazz Cats and even though my guitar costs $2500 I'm still considered the poorfag of the group. Most of their guitars start at around $7000.

Good gear makes playing more enjoyable, even if you're just playing open chords, don't be jealous.

>strat
i already have a squire strat and after demoing fender strat after strat, the only good ones are early 60's american made strats, which i don't have the money for.

but even then i'm just sick and tired of looking at them. They're boring and with what i'm after they often sound too flat and dull, which means i'd have to rely on effects and pedals which i don't want to have to manage and lug around.

>>
>>70563250
I think the PRS shape is beautiful and the guitars are beautiful. I own a Custom 24 with plans to buy more, but there is a point of diminishing returns. It is the most ergonomic guitar I've EVER played, no doubt about that, and its tuning stability is legendary among other notable points, but I would be happy to spend the rest of my life playing midrange guitars as well. PRS look beautiful and play the way they look but if ESP had never dissolved their Standard Series I probably wouldn't have looked elsewhere.

As for high end Fenders, eh. There's nothing the EJ can do that an American Standard or Deluxe can't. Thing is, those lines don't even exist anymore, as Fender is undergoing some weird rebranding phase which I suspect will flop disastrously and they'll be back to naming them American Standard and American Deluxe in a few years.

If you're going "high end", I would suggest sticking within the realm of Fender/Gibson/PRS so that if you ever need to sell that money back you can recoup at least some of it back. Custom shops like Siggi Braun and Mayones and even ESP are tempting, but once you open the case you've devalued the guitar by about 50%, so watch out. I'd stick with the classics.

Yeah like I said, i'm very impressed with the PRS tone. I also like the tops/colors they do. Looks great.

I think Fender is trying to have a new hit. It seems all anyone wants is the old 56 or 64 strats or 52 teles.

They probably decided they wanted to make something that would be as desired as those are. Because they haven't really done that in a while.

And that's good advice. I suppose. I like the schecter history of making fancy strats etc but I've seen $4k instruments from them sell for $1000 at GC and that means the poor guy sold it for less than that.

It's basic enough to have been done before, but I can tell you I haven't purposefully lifted it from anywhere

I've got it through fl studio, though I've been meaning to learn to use Ableton. Through fl I've added delay and reverb for the percussion sound, but nothing done to it past guitar effects you could find on a pedal. Lately I've been running my pedals through the interface though so I can reproduce any sound through my amp as well

The interface will make your sound cleaner, unless you rely on your amp for a very specific tone, such as a jangly Vox sound

if you have intonation problems, then re intonate your guitar dumbass.

fl studio comes with a whole mess of guitar effects. When I was using those and not my own, I'd use the native reverb, compression, eq and occasionally whatever specific effect I need

Ableton has less helpful native plugins, but it also has amp modelling which fl doesn't seem to, which is why I'd like to learn it. Also fl studio sounds less impressive than knowing Ableton or a real DAW

The only thing wood does is make your guitar look different because of different grain patterns. You also could consider light and heavy for the fact that you have to wear it.

Rosewood and maple does make a difference, but not enough for anyone besides the faggot playing to care or hear.

Just prior to recapitulation.
It's F7 to Bb7(V of Eb) followed by Fb7, bII in Eb or N4/3 in this case since thinking back I have it in second inversion with a seventh, which then moves to an A7 to Dm7 and finally back to G7 to reach CM7 and the main theme again.
The Neapolitan doesn't have its usual powerful statement it makes because its not a chromatic function here and it doesn't stay in Eb(or even play it) for long.
It would be hard to spot it.

actual left handed guitars tend to be more expensive

Just string it backwards, all you need is a new nut. Don't buy a guitar with a slanted bridge because then it won't intonate.

A symmetrical guitar like this would be best for comfort, but it's not necessary. Most important thing is that the bridge isn't slanted

Fender Light? Or is there something "lighter" than that?

its a scale of how much tone you can get out of them.

higher number means more tone.
>>
>>70568575
gauge of thinnest string

8s = 8-38, 9s = 9-42, 10s = 10-46, 11s = 11-49, 12s = 12-52, etc
>>

>>
>>70568602
Congratulations lad
New Ibenis day is always a good day
>>
>>70568575
it's the gauge of the highest e string
usually it's to reference the entire set
a set of 9's is thinner than a set of 10's
for electric you generally go light (.09 or .10) while acoustic is generally medium (.11 or .12)

i'd recommend you look up string gauges.

They could be making a killing by reissuing those amps right now. They would probably be a bigger source of revenue for them than their non-reissue Fender amps.
>>
>>70569251

Weren't Sunn typically targeting a more niche market like Doom and Stoner genres? I don't think they were eating into Fender's market at all, and it's not like Fender have filled that gap themselves since. Mesa and Orange have been doing a better job in that regard.

Sunn died when stoner and doom were barely gaining ground.

I'm sure there's lots of people who played Sunn before the whole stoner craze, Tony Iommi did for a while, John Entwistle played like 20 Sunn heads at the same time, Buzz from Melvins and Agata from Melt-Banana.

Decided on a Casino, but the store don't restock for another month.

Coupe models are £100 cheaper and I even prefer the finish. Worth getting or waiting though?
>>
>>70569379
it's just a feel/preference thing. it's exactly the same except it has a 339-shaped body instead of a 335-shaped one. just go to guitar center and sit down with a epiphone dot and a 339 (every one i've been to had both on the wall somewhere) and see which one you like the feel of more. if you like the bigger body better it's definitely worth waiting instead of compromising and selling it in 3 months.

this is good advice

personally i find the coupe handles a lot more like a regular electric, whereas with the full size 335 feels more like a real hollowbody. youll get a tiny bit less acoustic response form the coupe as well
