I'm gonna go ahead and copypasta my last /gg/ post

Best system for tuning stability that is not a floyd rose? I love FR, but changing strings is a real bitch. Locking tuners make it easier to change strings, but don't do much else. Evertune is solid but a mechanical nightmare to mount. Strandberg guitars are ugly as hell, but the system is solid. ABS custom bridges are probably expensive as hell. Ibanez Edge FX is restricted to, well, Ibanez. And then there are a couple more custom companies building fixed bridge locking systems, which again, is probably expensive as fuck. That pretty much leaves Kahler, but I have no idea as to how easy it is to change strings or how stable it actually is. Is is comparable to the stability of a floyd?
Bonus: two separate questions:
-Is the EVH De-Tuna any good? Does it even work?
-Can you retrofit coil split/ coil tap?

The more opinions the better
Forgive me for copypasting
>>
>>70119271
evertune
>>
>>70119271
i was in the same boat for a long time, ditched my floyd rose guitar, got sperzel tuners on my gibson sg, doesn't help for guitar becoming detuned but they are great for string changes.

have you considered getting a better built guitar that is less likely to go out of tune fast? i used to have a yamaha that when out of tune if you played it for more than a minute

Either your guitar has a digital audio interface or your computer accepts analog line input. You connect it to computer somehow.

From there the software can take the audio data and save it in memory so you can do magic with it like playing them back at the same time and building a new sound data with that as result.

You do that by pressing the record button. You know, big red dot...?

COME ON ASSHOLE

THE GUITAR HAS THINGS IN THEM THAT GENERATE ANALOG SIGNAL. WHATS DAT? FUCKIN' MAGNETS, THAT'S WHAT. THE IRON STRINGS BEND MAGNETIC FIELDS WHICH INDUCT CURRENT INTO PICKUPS, AND THAT ALSO MEANS VOLTAGE MOTHERFUCKER.

THAT VOLTAGE,THATS AUDIO DATA YOU WANT TO SHOVE INTO UR PC, BUT PC WONT SIMPLY ACCEPT THAT SHIT JUST LIKE THAT, ITS FILTHY, DIRTY, PEASANT ANALOG SHIT. YOU NEED A DIGITAL-TO-ANALOG CONVERTER TO QUANTIZE THAT SHIT INTO BITS

DEPENDING ON YOUR GUITAR IT MIGHT HAVE ONE INSIDE ITS FUCKIN GUTS. IF YOU GOT A SOUND CARD IT ALREADY HAS ONE DIPSHIT

do some boring chromatic exercises really slowly making sure the pinky tip is coming down onto the string not the area where your finger print is like all those fingers in that picture and make sure the pinky doesn't rise off the fretboard more than 1-2cm, when you first start the pinky will fly up and be almost straight, eventually you can get it so all four fingers kind of crab on the fretboard

you probably won't be able to do the exercises at more than 1bpm, its something fucked with how the last two fingers are on the same tendon or some shit

takes ages to develop good pinky control
>>
>>70120123
>iron strings
Iron would be horrible, it doesnt flex and its brittle. Instead of the dtring vibratong it would just snap
>>
>>70120076
If you live in an apartment get some nice solid state like the roland JC22 so it sounds good quiet and has a headphone jack, for some reason the AC10 and AC15 sound really nice at quiet volumes but the AC4 sounds like complete shit until its cranked and an AC4 is only 4 watts but its super fucking loud for an apartment.

>>70120317
But its going to be no on your case.

Electric guitar pickups work because of the magnetic field between the strings and the pickups, and nylon wont work because its not metal.

Youll need something like a piezo or somethong else microphonic, which it would make more sense to just stick a piezo on a classical guitar than an electric. There are electric guitar piezo pickups, but its filling a niche which youre not a part of. In the end though it wont sound like what youre trying to get.

I was thinking about applying for the apprenticeship with our local, but im just worried about getting work consistently. Yoi guys go through dry spells.

And i jist mean theyre basocally the same. Fuzz face has 2 transistors, muff has 2 that do the same thing, 2 more and some diodes, the original swollen pickle was a muff with a transistor array(4 transistors in one chip), the orignal tonebender is a muff with some things taken out(like they copied the pcb). Basically theyre all based around 2 or more transistors(aside from the occasional opamp base), and a lot are actually based around muffs. the way the transistors are biased, amount of clipping stages, component values and which transistors are used, and different sound shaping things are used that make them all different. Germaniums from the same batch can sound different, some circuits are designed to scoop almost no mids, some are built with lfos and gates in them.

The circuits can be the exact same, but different parts can make them sound completely different.

nah, they're not even remotely popular. each band member is probably gonna have to pay around $500 each to fund food for themselves and stuff, maybe the profits would cover the gas but maybe not even that

it just would have been an awesome opportunity to travel and shit. they should have asked me first anyway, maybe i could've scrounged up the $$$

If you like the reverb on your amp, do not get the Dispatch Master. But the upside of having two delays is you can set one for a slapback delay, and the other for more extended delays

yeah he does sound flat. but honestly that's not even the worst part.

i just honestly cannot image walking onstage with my ibanez with a floyd rose and proceeding to shred like an absolutely asshole in front of an orchestra playing a shitty arrangement behind me.

My guess is it wasn't Vai's idea in the first place, more like the orchestra is trying to build its audience by doing crossover shows (same with playing film soundtracks etc).

This never works, and often loses money. I know of more than one orchestra that has lost money with 5 sold out shows of a film soundtrack (ROTLA I think).

I work for an orchestra as a librarian and if you get the wrong general manager, you get his sort of shit all the time.

Ah shit /gg/. I wasn't planning on buying a new bass this year but something happened just now. I saw a Yamaha BB414 on Reverb and, having tried one of these years ago with great impressions, made kind of a lowball offer on the listing. The listing had been up for several months so I thought maybe seller would bite or maybe not. Seller bit. Done deal.

Pic related isn't the exact one I bought but it's the same model and color.

Sorry for not getting back to you, I forgot about the thread.

>I have thought of blocking my FR, but never got around to it. Restringing is basically exactly like a fixed bridge guitar, but at the end you clamp the locking nuts and it's done right?
Pretty much yeah, lock down and fine tune. You still get the issue of the high string going out of tune as you tune the lowest string but it's by barely anything. You can fine tune up in seconds rather than minutes.

Can also take the nut off and use it like that, but you'll get a bit of noise from behind the nut. Upside though is you can do drop tunings and what not as you would on a normal guitar. More or less.

>I kind of want to have an all-in-one guitar; solid tuning, 7-string (B for my death metal and E-standard for my prog-rock project), coil tap/split for the warm single coil sound, and possibly a D-tuna to switch to drop tuning if I want to. It's one hell of a combo, but I think it'd be pretty awesome. Maybe it'll end up being some kind of frankenstein monster
You can definitely do it. My live guitar is a H-H seven string in A Standard. BKP Painkiller in bridge, Holy Diver in neck. 3-way switch, and a push pull coil split on volume pot. It's an extremely versatile guitar.

retard here,

woul pluggging my headphones into an 1/4 adapter and tben plug that in to the headphone output on my amp make it so that all the sound coming from the amp go into the headset? fucking noise complaints
>>
>>70129803
Yes, that's why it's there.
>>
>>70129803
Generally thats how it works. If for some reason it doesnt you can disconnect the speaker. If its a tube amp dont disconnect the speaker
>>
>>70129803
It may or may not be in mono though
>>
>>70129851
This is probably a stupid question, but can I disconnect my preamp on a valve amplifier and hook it into something besides another cab? or is it always bad to hook it into anything besides an amp cabinet, because I guess it can damage your amp if you turn it on unplugged

I can't afford $50 for a bottle of scotch are you joking?

So anyway eased off the truss rod in case it was too tight and putting some reliefback might help stop the 'string catching on fret above' scenario

Also lowered action. I'd brought the action right up to try to get rid of fret buzz, it wasn't the solution. Tiring to play and didn't solve the problem either. Even having a high action didn't stop the string fouling on the next fret up.... .... .. .

Mmmm?

Beer?

The only thing you should plug your valve amp into other than a cab is an attenuator.
>>

I only work like 3 or 4 days a week. I just get paid pretty well.
>>
>>70129929
If you have an effects loop its easy. You can verify off a schematic but its usually the effect send it the pre amp out, and effect return is power amp in. You can use a power amp from a different amp, or you can use a cabinet sim or ir response or something in your daw. Pre amp by itself is pretty harsh. Youll still want either a cabinet or dummy load connected to your speaker out because you can destroy your output transformer.
>>
>>70129953
or one of those load box things

So I can plug it into my audio interface instead before I turn it on and use a cab sim? instead of getting a mic

You could try it as long as you have a load on the power amp, either a speaker, attenuator, ect. As >>70130004 said if you don't you'll fry the transformer.
>>
>>70130461
Fuck off /a/ poster
Stop watching cartoons and maybe you'll be good at guitar
