Eh, I don't think that's a very good deal. His sentence about a strap and straplocks costing $100 is ridiculous (or he got ripped off).

A Squire vintage modified jazz will run you about $350 new and those are a-okay basses. I looked at amazon just now and they have a 5 string Washburn on for $470 that looks like a good deal.

Anyone struggling with learning new techniques, or doesn't play with a metronome or in rhythm, I will shill this book.

Guitar Aerobics, by Troy Nelson. It gets boring, but goddamn, it gives you something to work on everyday, even if just for five or fifteen minutes, and will help you to be a professional, clean guitar player with an expansive skill set and an understanding of theory.

Best acoustic for under $250? Back story for the person I'm buying it for: he played electric a lot 4 years ago and now he just plays on and off. He wants something that's easy to just pick up and play that feels good. I translate that as something with a comfy neck and good resonance.

cruise craigslist or whatever. Looks for someone willing to part with a guitar they don't want for a good price. Brand I recommend to look for is seagull, but I don't know if you will find one at that price.

you learn to play on rhythm, like a real musician. Triplets, eighths, quarters, halves, it all just becomes natural to you. Learn to play along with the rhythm, like a guitarist in a real band is able to do. Don't play to your own natural rhythm, it is naturally flawed.

Hello, everyone from 4chin(what a funny name), my name is Troy Nelson and I am the creator of Guitar Aerobics. I'd like to thank you all for the support. Maybe a partscaster that you can paint yourself with nitro. A polyurethane/polyester finished guitar is never going to look like that.

body: $70
Neck: $100
Loaded Pickguard: $50
Bridge: $30
Tuners: $20
Paint/Primer/Clear/Sandpaper/Stain: $60

so about $330 total, but at least it will age like you want it to

There would be slight increment in perceived loudness since the cone on the 15" is pushing more air, and more presence in the lower frecuencies. There would be better projection. There wouldn't be, however, an increase in volume.

Take into account that this is all assuming that both speakers have the same efficiency.

And that's CAR, one of the most popular ones to buy. When they were in pawn shops in the late 80s-early 90s the vintage ones were the same price as a Squier, even less. I changed my guitar strings, but now that I play the strings make this weird noise at times. I don't know how to explain it. It's almost as if the strings ring out or something, could the tension not be enough?
>>
>>69680691
Can you at least try to describe it? Is it a weird mid/low pitch rumble crossed with a dead note sound?
>>
>>69680077
>>69680090
imo ableton is sometimes wonky when recording guitars, but I don't have any experience with other daws so maybe it's just me
however as far as midi goes, and thus drums, it's great, it takes seconds to do a simple drum beat and you can even add some extra fluff like septuplets with a few clicks.
>>
>>69680711

Do I need a DI box to hook my bass up to an audio interface or does that depend on the interface?

My bass is an active one if that helps.
>>
>>69681464
depends on the interface
most budget interfaces like the scarlett 2i2 accept direct from the bass, but higher end interfaces require certain levels that you can get from a DI box since it has a high impedance out
For most active basses the output is pretty high, so if you're looking at an interface make sure it has a high impedance input

Tip on stretching: don't do the pull upwards method. Press with thumb on one side and fingers on the other to form the string in to a partial S shape. Do this at around the 12th fret, then a bit above and a bit below. Works a lot better.

Oh yes, all head tube amp safety stuff applies even when going amp direct to mixer. This is a benefit of solid state heads as they can double as a DI if needed and do not require a cabinet connection if not desired.

My first was a Lotus strat knockoff. I think it's still buried somewhere in my dad's basement. Good enough to get started on, but I haven't owned a Strat since. I did have a Tele that had 2 single coil Strat pickups in the middle/neck that I loved and regret selling, but that's as close as I came.

Any gear queers know of inexpensive ways of getting a good clean input into your PC from your guitar?

I've a DEAN laying around that I tried playing with Rocksmith out of boredom, but I realized the signal was too dirty to actual enjoy it.

This would solve multiple issues I have if I could figure out how to clean up the signal into my PC.
>>
>>69682521
I'm assuming you're talking about C major's V, since A major has a v.
If you're using a V7 in C major, that gives us G, the root, B, the major third, D the fifth, and F, the minor seventh. Which are all part of C major, meaning you won't have much clash going on

Now if you're substituting A's v chord, E minor, to a V7 chord, so E major 7, you've got E, the root, C# the major third, B the fifth and D the major seventh. So playing A harmonic minor over it, you'd raise the G to a G# that may sound nicer over the C#, still have a C that would completely clash with the C#.

Of course it also comes down to how you approach tension and release and how you phrase it.

>This is a benefit of solid state heads as they can double as a DI if needed and do not require a cabinet connection if not desired.
I never thought about it but it makes sense.
As dumb as this sounds, could I theorically use a bass through my Orange Micro Dark to shape it up a little bit before sending it to the PA ?

>>69682550
eh, settings aren't as great as proper pots.
if the build quality's nicer than a regular MiM, maybe go for it, but otherwise I wouldn't.

Yeah I meant changing the v in A Minor to a V7. My B.

Not E Major 7, though.

E7.

E Dominant.

D isn't the major seventh of Emaj7 anyway.

iirc he's busy gigging these days.

>>69682898
isn't 7 for a minor seventh ? I always get confused with that notation.
In that case, since you end up with E and D#, that still makes A harmonic minor awkward as its 4th degree, D, will clash with D# and it'll make some kind of awkward chromatic cluster since you have D, D#, E and F.

>>69682974
The usual recommendation's the Scarlett 2i2 or the steinberg UR22 which are around €100ish. Behringer probably has some stuff but it'll break.

>dumb as this sounds, could I theorically use a bass through my Orange Micro Dark to shape it up a little bit before sending it to the PA ?

Yes. It might not sound very good but yes. The main issue with running a bass to a guitar amp is potential damage to guitar cab speakers, which isn't an issue with a PA.

m7 or min7 or -7 is "Minor Seventh" which is root, minor third, fifth, minor seventh

maj7 or M7 or △7 is "Major Seventh" which is root, major third, fifth, major seventh

7 is "Dominant Seventh" which is root, major third, fifth, minor seventh.
