Why aren't you playing classical guitar?
It's beautiful, includes many techniques you've never thought about using, is a great creative tool, and gives you complete mastery over the guitar as an instrument rather than an effects conduit limited to how many pedals you have.

Modern classical pieces are clever and innovative, taking full advantage of the guitar.

For sure, as long as tuning stability is okay and the temperament is such that it's not offensive to play up to the twelfth fret, you should be golden.

how do I fight this cycle? I had a good six months or so when I started and made alright progress, but then I got a gf and now she sucks up most of my time(we pretty much spend all day every day together) and I never think to practice causing me to get worse at playing guitar causing me to practice less.

I have that issue as well, the only solution is to not play with a pick anymore or adjust the height at which you hold the pick, which becomes easier to do as your right hand develops.
Didn't notice a difference for tapping really, but I don't play much electric guitar music where controlled rasgueado of some kind didn't suffice.

thanks m8, i use the 2x12 for all my amps depending on the gig (small bar vs actual spacious venue) the super champs is for when i go to a friend or bandmates house to jam and one sits on top of my desk. the only thing that doesnt really get used is the olive green mustang since i bought it for the neck and im selling the body or using it for an HH project. some of my pedals are fairly new but they have a bit of scarring, my boss reverb, sparrow and polytune were my main gigging pedals in high school so theyve been beat but the rest are starting to wear in. also thats my specific clothes rack for my ironic t shirts

This. I got this one gf when i was like 16. Until then i was making decent enough progress for the some 2+ years I had been playing. She was into the guitar playing until i guess she saw it got more attention. She gave up the pussy and won the attention battle.
>>69684558
>but i love her
Me too. I was fucking 16. I'm still with her, and I'm 33. She's almost 9 mos pregant with our 3rd kid. My guitar playing is finally getting somewhere what I'd wanted it to be when i was 16, because i spend most of my free time playing now(which isnt much, an hour or so after work when the kids go to bed) because it saves more $ than going out.
She was a keeper cause she bought me gear, even tho I'd hardly use it cuz i was getting laid. That's life. I mean, realistically i prolly made the right choice, because I'd never have been able to buy a house and support 4 other people on a hack guitar player's salary
>>
>>69684228

>>
>>69685064
Right on, we need a larger palette of original music written for the guitar.
The (classical) guitar's repertoire consists of about half arrangements and half original tunes. Granted that's still more music than anyone could play in 100 lifetimes, but more is welcome and keeps the instrument relevant.
>>
>>69684661
Fucking a chick rotten until she's squealing then passes out when you're done, and sitting on the edge of the bed playing guitar while she snores is probably the best thing ever.

He pushes the guitar to its limits.
>>

Which is perfectly fine, composing is god damned hard.
I remember doing some studies on guitar counterpoint.
It's not nicely or formally documented like it on the piano because the popular plucked string instrument from every period was for the most part the "instrument of the people" or of the "poor and under-educated."
Which is not to say they were musically illiterate, but formal study(and especially a history of it) just didn't happen like on harpsichord/piano/organ.
We do have some champions of the guitar though, Mauro Giuliani, Carcassi, Sor, Mertz, Weiss(lute), etc
They rarely wrote books on composition.

Cecilio is an entry level brand. You may or may not want to get a new pair of strings for it though, I personally would get the best strings I could. I bought a Mendini MV 400 or some shit a few years ago for 100 $ and other than the fact that I ruined it, it was OK. I ended up buying a different violin used at a pawn shop. I was actually going to post it and some of my other collection to get input on what I could maybe sell them for.

I looked through a lot of it when I first got it from a colleague.
There's some really neat music in there, but the complete lack of fingerings is a bummer and makes it very difficult to interpret apart from using only the highest four strings.
It would require more time to devote to it than I have. I really want to put an "earliest guitar music" set together and perform. I probably have 3 hours of material here.

I need pedal suggestions. I'm looking for something to add a bit of high-frequency "sizzle" to a middlin' amp with a less than awesome preamp gain sound. I don't want full on fuzz or distortion, and I also don't want just a tubescreamer clone with some dirt on it because the tone knob EQ on those doesn't do much for me. Just something that can introduce a little more high end.

A friend suggested a Metal Muff, which is doing awful shit across the board that I want nothing of. What are some other slightly hairy pedals boost pedals without the TS9/808 EQ profile? Or should I be looking at a distortion pedal with good control in the low-gain settings?
>>
>>69689402
I'm the guy he was arguing with and I use Pro Tools. But I'm not a retard and I know just that alone won't make me a good engineer and you can get a professional mix done in any DAW if you know what you're doing
>>
>>69689163

Hasn't been the industry standard since Ableton hit the scene, but if you go by marketing fluff about "total users" and not NAMM data about people who actually purchased (read, did not get a free copy of some shit trial version with a DI box in the 00s and never uses it) DAWs then ProTools is third spot, not top spot.

It's always weird how people call it "industry standard" when that's only true for the teenagers-and-prosumers market segment. Like, it's clear if you're saying that that you've:
-Never been in "the industry", otherwise you'd have seen purchase metrics
-Are choosing something by name, not workflow, which is the only thing that matters and guarantees you'll suck at it

I understand not everyone spends their time on 4chan enough to immediately get the joke, but even taken at face value it's absurd enough that anyone can see its not meant to be take seriously.

I believe it.
I perform and teach classical guitar(and regular guitar since here in the states everyone just wants to play pop tunes or whatever they listen to)
Actually had a dream about living in Europe last night, if it weren't for the fact that I can envision most of Europe becoming a nightmare in the next 50 years I'd try to seek citizenship there somewhere provided I could find work.

I'll probably never buy a Dime but some of their other lines are good. Saving to get a USA custom now

I have the same thing, only made in Indonesia, which doesn't make it any better, i'd say it's worth about a 30% more than a Special II so check on that.
I'm going to stick with mine since it's the only electric i've got and i'm not going to be able to get a better one for some time

Why would you want to own a Dean when you could have a DBZ
>>
>>69690221
what do guys on here think of Schecter? I have a PT Fastback that I like a lot. I'm not too into their more "metal" guitars really but for the price this thing is great
>>
>>69690269
all we do is talk about gear because we mostly unskilled and like to buy expensive items to make us sound good in leiu of practicing to get good. We take to the forum to seek confirmation bias and put down our fellow man for purchasing something else enabling us to justify our purchases
yea see while I understand the importance of gear I think it's only to a certain extent and I mostly like playing guitar and recording stuff. so too much gear talk just ends up giving me a headache most of the time cause it's like who gives a fuck I already have a guitar to play

I live close enough to La Brea these jews look pretty white to me aside from the persians. I bet they even fill caucasian on the census.

I didn't mean your song that was great and funny as fuck just the dailystormer altright nut sentiment that was behind it
>>

You can look at the nose and see their semitic every time, that long curved bridge is a dead giveaway and it is displayed not just by Jews, but most ethnicities in the middle east.
The guys you live near are probably half jewish.

>>69690430
This. The media just wants us to argue amongst ourselves. In fighting is the quickest way to destroy a group of people, and the easiest way to divert attention from everything that's being slipped past us.

Yeah, I just don't like it anymore. Also it's kind of on the heavier side for my liking. I played a Jackson at a friends house and it was lightweight and played pretty well I guess.

Go on and on about your practice routine then. I'm sure it's much more interesting to talk about than sweet guitars.
