Are external DAC's a meme?

Isn't the one in your modern computer just as good.

Honestly just get an internal sounds card, they're just plain netter. Pair that with some beats by dre, and you have yourself a high tier audiophile setup

Yes and no. Internal audio can have interference from other components, and/or the internal DAC can just sound shit. Also can be a lot more noticeable with higher end gear. And unless your motherboard has a proper line out, it allows for better amplification if the external DAC has one [typically does]

go ask the headphone general on /g/ if youre still confused or want product recommendations.

Realtek's newer ALC1150 has about the same S/N ratio as HT-Omega and Creative-Z. So they're all on the same playing field. It just depend on the architecture of the motherboard, the other components and it's isolation.

So, is it worth it to spend a few extra bucks on a motherboard rather than $200 or so on a card?

Yeah, I think so.

lauren is back

hey guys sorry I have to ask this but can I uninstall realtek now that I have a Fiio. I did hear a noticeable improvement but that's might be because I have odd headphones. A weird version of Sennheiser.
