WHAT ARE THE BEST ALBUMS FROM JAPAN?
DON'T KNOW, WHAT ARE THE BEST ALBUMS FROM USA?
Proof that Japan could do jazz right.
Does anybody have this album?http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/UICY-4549#
I can't find it on what.cd or jpopsuki
Vacant World(1968) by the Jacks
Spitz(スピッツ) have a great discography, notably their albums Fake Fur(1998), Indigo Chiheisen(1996), and SazanamiCD(2007)
Trying to remember the name of a Japanese producer.
More of an electronic style but mainly used guitar, bass, drums, horns.
Had songs could smoke and music.
Really really good. Anyone know?
It's a non-important issue, and I sure as hell don't call A German Requiem "Ein Deutsches Requiem" on a casual conversation. Stop being so anal, it's easier to recall titles on languages you know, and communicate them with other people.
if i called this song "Barisan Kyouwakoku" and someone else called it "Bari-3 Kyohwa-Koku", we'd still know we're talking about the same thing
if you called it "3-Bar Republic" and someone else "Full Signal Commonwealth", can you be sure you're both talking about the same song?
February 18th! it's the same release date as CAPSULE's "WAVE RUNNER" and i can't wait to watch the Dempas totally stomp them on the charts
p.s. Nemu is best
i didn't know "autistic" was the new slang for "correct"
>i didn't know "autistic" was the new slang for "correct"
Maybe you misunderstood context, I hear that's a thing with people with autism.
And your j-pop is disgusting, I sure as hell wouldn't want to discuss that shit with anyone and I wouldn't want to carry a conversation with people that would have that sort of conversations.
then what are you doing lingering in a thread about Japanese music if you're not actually interested in it beyond that stupid Midori album everyone here has already heard
Nemu > Pinky > Taso > Mirin > Moga > Risa
Because j-idols and midori are clearly the entirety of japanese muscic, right?
And just so you know that your romaji bullshit is just as inept and arbitrary, there's no way to get that the san in "Barisan Kyouwakoku" is a 3. Romaji is already a compromise and incorrect from the get-go, but we need those compromises because we can't read moonrunes.
If correctness is such a concern, then the only way to go is obviously バリ3共和国
GOAT live album coming through.
Also does anyone have some other releases from him other than Daikanjyo???
>there's no way to get that the san in "Barisan Kyouwakoku" is a 3
but even if you didn't know that, you'd still understand exactly what song "Barisan [...]" was if you'd referred to it as "Bari-3" your whole life, which is the point of using romanised titles over translated ones
>Romaji is already a compromise and incorrect from the get-go
except in cases where songs have been given official romanisations for international release, which is happening more and more regularly. as an example, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's staff put her song "Tsukematsukeru" on iTunes with that romanised title, so it's correct because it's been approved by the label and the artist
>the only way to go is obviously バリ3共和国
but because the majority of computer users can't type in Japanese, they use roman characters. for that, "Bari-3 Kyouwakoku" is fine.
are you still trying to argue for referring to things by translated titles, or are you just complaining about the way people actually do things by this point?
>you'd still understand exactly what song "Barisan [...]"
Just as well that you'd understand "A German Requiem" is EIn Deutshces Requiem or "Hello Everyone[..]" is "Aratemamashite. Hajimemashite[...]". Do you understand now? Communication is arbitrary, man. Whatever works is correct. Don't get so neurotic about it.
but nobody does this in the case of Japanese music unless there's an officially sanctioned translation (like in the case of YMO or other artists who've been released in the West)
that's why i was asking whether they'd gotten a Western release or not, because it's so uncommon as far as Japanese music goes
>but nobody does this
except for japanese music that is well-regarded among western circles, such as midori. That nobody does this for your ultra-weeb music among weeb circles is another thing. But those kind of people would argue about what is and what is not denpa.
No mention of the Queen Ringo yet. I'm disappointed /mu/
>except for japanese music that is well-regarded among western circles, such as midori
Shiina Ringo, AKB48, Perfume, BABYMETAL, Togawa Jun, everyone talks about these artists' songs with their original titles
i had a huge list of links but the spam filter wouldn't allow me to post them, so you can try Googling articles about any of those acts to see for yourself
this is no good, who put this together? it's like the iPod of a 16-year-old boy whose dad bought him a subscription to "ROCKIN' ON JAPAN" magazine, except there's some game soundtrack in there? this is already embarrassing to look at...
oh, if it's about things you personally enjoy it isn't anything like a problem. i read it as some objective list like "this is the best of Japanese music!", which is a scary thought.
good albums from Japan include
Afrirampo - "WE ARE UCHU NO KO"
Tenniscoats - "All Aboard"
ZAZEN BOYS - "ZAZEN BOYS"
Scha Dara Parr - "5th WHEEL 2 The COACH"
Incapacitants - "As Loud As Possible"
Happy End - "Kazemachi Roman"
neina - "subconsciousness"
Supercar - "Three Out Change"
SARO - "The Fish Which Is Numb In Dusk Of Winter"
Vampillia - "The Divine Move"
obviously they do fag
but since it's the only japanese jazz album you know, and since you know nothing about japan history, you could only prove it by posting the memest and the most overrated japanese jazz album
I've heard good things about Supercar, actually I'll just drop this mega of stuff for this thread while I'm here
Or anything by her in general.
this is pretty great if you're into post-rock
ahh yes i love this album. such a shame he never made music in this new rave/electro-rock sound again though
also pic related is GOAT japanese electro
this is by far the most essential one. Should be in everyone's essential list. this is top quality electro pop.
That second track and that final track.... dear god help me.
this is the best Perfume album for sure, but i think other albums produced by Nakata are better
capsule's "MORE! MORE! MORE!", COLTEMONIKHA's best-of, MEG's "BEAUTIFUL" and "STEP"...
i guess it's all about taste, but the immature feeling of Perfume isn't really appealing for me. i like the adult worldview of these other acts more
no way! they're really on the same high level as "GAME" for the most part, but to be honest, the newest CAPSULE album sounds like it'll be terrible. you can't feel any love there any more.
the only other albums on its level are "FRUITS CLiPPER" and "L.D.K Lounge Designers Killer", but those are a little rougher than a thing someone who enjoyed "GAME" could immediately get into
"Sugarless GiRL" has killer songs like the title track and "Starry sky", but i think there's a lot of filler on that album in particular, with "Sound of Silence" being particularly horrible
"PLAYER" is also good, but it gets dragged down by "Factory" which is unnecessary and unlistenable
as for "WORLD OF FANTASY", i guess it's good for what it is, but i'm almost never in the mood for it because it's so consistently intense and loud
Art Is Over
REALiTY is the best song on Sugarless GiRL
A lot of people hate Factory but I quite enjoy it. What annoys me about it is that random ass voice but I can look over it because the instrumental rocks
isn't it like a rehash of this superior thing he put on the Liar Game soundtrack?
that makes "Factory" twice as unforgivable, in my mind
i just found about this dude Tatsuro Yamashita and I'm looking for dl for his album titled 'For You'
No one goes down the rabbit hole for music anymore, they just come for spoonfeeding and end up with a collective hivemind. On the surface at least. Then you have the issue of /mu/ having a lot of shit taste from underexposure and legitimate tismals interfering with it as well.
Also Figured I'd share this.
Shigeo Sekito Special Sound Series Vol.2 (1975)
