Mudhoney IDK about, never really got the appeal. A bit too punk-y for me.
STP doesn't have as many songs I like as Nirvana, but they're pretty gut.

You also have supergroups like Mad Season and TotD, both of which are spectacular albums. They're not better than Nevermind, but they're better than Bleach and In Utero.

Obviously Nirvana "did" grunge the best, otherwise Kurt wouldn't have this cult of personality surrounding him. They're the band people think of when they think Grunge. Their music isn't up to bar with the output of their peers, though.

Babes is Toyland was probably the "grungiest" of the grunge bands. It's up for debate who was the best, though.
