We're going for a 40-track mixtape, using the most basic midi soundfonts possible, and all vocals are to be text-to-speech. All tracks are to be under 2 minutes
tracks and their names will be collected over the next 3 days, and on friday or saturday we'll have a listen along.
We have named all of the songs, now it's time to claim them. We have not decided on album art yet.
Remaking the thread because it occurred to me that this thread is being filtered to death because of the song titles.

>penis is disqualified, it's too long.
I suppose it was absolutley intentional
Now that it's been **out** for a few days, what are people's thoughts. Favorite/least favorite track, better/worse than twin peaks?
>inb4 the call
It's not that bad
The best song is clearly Get Up, it's a beautiful song that has a great jamie vocal (sax-o-phone)
Worst song is Faith, Torn Apart it's atrocious
Yeah faith torn apart is twice as long as it needs to be, get up and wondering are fantastic. Solid 7/10 family
my favorite is the title track.
Overall good album but I don't like "those" parts of The Call, and I agree with you that Faith, Torn Apart sucks. The rest is good to great imo.
strong 7, light 8

Good to see that people are enjoying Xiu Xiu records again, they're on a bit of a hot streak rn. I don't expect another masterpiece from them, but solid 7/10s are all I need now

Who is the artist of the decade so far?
I mean so far the 2010s have been pretty fucking boring. For me its Kanye tho but considering how fucking awful 2010s have been so far thats not saying much
Beyoncé, anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves.
I'd honestly say young thug
A dude who was pretty much a literally who completely changed the game
is all metal this shit? phoning for a friend
no, most metal is even worse
this is not metal
That album purposefully sets out to go against the norms of metal (which is fine if done well, in this case not really) so it is about the last recording anybody would ever pick to represent "metal." Not sur why this is even a question but it's not inflammatory enough to be bait, so there you go.
baroque period best period edition
I can be VERY sarcastic.

Gaddafi Was Right
Why are "musicians" taking so long to make their music? This album took Frank Ocean three years to make. MGMT took three years between all their albums. Divers was Joanna Newsom's first album in five years. It's been almost three years since St. Vincent released an album. Adele took four years between her last two albums. And look at this:
The Man Who Sold the World (1970)
Hunky Dory (1971)
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972)
Aladdin Sane (1973)
Pin Ups (1973)
Diamond Dogs (1974)
Young Americans (1975)
Station to Station (1976)
Low (1977)
"Heroes" (1977)
Lodger (1979)
Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) (1980)
And that wasn't uncommon - the first four Talking Heads albums were all released annually too. Same with the Beatles, one album a year. Making music is easier now than it was in the '70s. Is the reason musicians are taking so long to make music now? Is it because they're spending too much time on "celebrity" bullshit (attending award ceremonies, social media) and not enough time actually making music? It shouldn't normally take a musician three years to make an album if they're working on it even 5 days a week.

Turnover is much, much faster now in the internet age.
Prolific artists risk swamping listeners with too much material, that will become deemed too time consuming and difficult to navigate. People have less attention span nowadays and the marketplace is absolutely teeming with new music, constantly. In many ways we're living in the most conservative time for music, since everybody is their own curator. Listeners are less willing to "take a risk" or commit to a whole album, and if they're appearing often, it could be intimidating.
Mass piracy is partly to blame for this.
>>69646452
They tour more today because they get less money from sales
