The people who listen to rap are the biggest coulprits, when you reward someone that only knows 20 words in the english dictionary, has tattoo's on his face and fills up every song he's ever made with 100 adlibs and nonsense then the genre is bound to become a shitshow even if there are still good artists around. The barrier for entry to rap is so low and the standards to even be accepted or be taken serious is legit sad, you get a simple trap beat with a producer tag and an autotune setup and you're chances of becoming a star are actually quite high compared to other genres. Then again theres also the other side of the spectrum where these fucking stupid nignogs that write lyrics which blame everything bad that has ever happened to them on police, other people and """education""" where in the meantime they have no problem claiming they're a part of a gang, killed people, collect guns/sell drugs while being proud of all of it, that dumb coon Bobby Shmurda managed to fucking get himself jailtime for one of his songs the dumb fuck.

I've got a decent ear (I think) so I've tried listening to people I want to sound like and mimicking that, but it just doesn't come out sounding nearly as good. Are there specific techniques I should be looking into to sound more punk?

Probably doesn't help that I'm a baritone trying to stretch my voice. I do typically change the key to one more suitable though.
