Fight my dick
>Kurt Cobain kills himself after Nirvana becomes too big for him to handle
>following Alice In Chains' rise to being one of the biggest rock bands on the planet, Layne Staley becomes a shut-in and spends 8 years isolated in his apartment, obliterating himself with drugs before finally dying
>Soundgarden break up at their creative and commercial peak; they eventually reunite and release a couple of lukewarm albums before Chris Cornell kills himself as well
>Pearl Jam freak out about being too popular and go on an autistic boycott against music videos and Ticketmaster, fucking up their career in the process
Why were grunge bands so shit at handling success?
Heroin, and being fucking losers who reached sudden fame in general.
>>74310023
This. They were all just a bunch of autistic junkies from Seattle who were thrown into the spotlight basically overnight.
None of those people were equipped to deal with all the baggage that comes with being a massive pop culture phenomenon because nothing like grunge ever really happened in the US before.
The UK had punk(thought none of the major punk bands ever got nearly as big as the likes of Pearl Jam and Nirvana were), the US had no similar cultural shift.
All of these bands(aside from maybe Soundgarden) also got very big very quickly, which added further shock to the whole situation. One day you're playing in a sweaty, dingy punk club to 150 people, the next you're all over MTV and surrounded by hundreds of hangers-on and have your record label breathing down your neck about selling another million records and every music magazine wants you on their cover and your private life becomes a media spectacle. It's an insane situation to put a bunch of lower-class young people in.
There's also the fact that a lot of the major figures in the Seattle scene(Cobain and Staley probably being the most severe examples) were self-destructive and emotionally unstable from the get-go, and once you make a shitload of money and become adored by millions of people only to realize that none of that has given any sense of personal stability or fulfillment in your life and that in many ways you're more fucked up than you've ever been(which only further fuels the media myths and obsessions surrounding you), destroying yourself might seem like the only logical thing to do.

There is literally nothing I hate more than pitchfork buzzbands / indie industry plants like lavren
WHAT
None. I wouldn't want to bring attention to them and thus ruin them
Probably Unwound or The Thinking Fellers

Last one kicked the bucket.

I think my music should be a stand alone thing without a visual identity, so I try and not to be super flashily with the art I promote my music with. With that being said though I'm loosing focus and falling deeper into the hole of glitch asthetic.
Will actually rate and give feedback

Check out Kramer - The Guilt Trip. It has a much more tame Ween sort of vibe.
what's the most crafty use of sampling you've ever heard?
https://instagram.com/p/BTLgDr2jDn4/
This is a DJ performing jungle live with a sampler
not really sampling but the way creep uses the melody from that hollies song is pretty cool
I think Fantastic Damage by El-P was entirely done with a sampler.
