This is oddly specific.
>the "beach" boys
The Suburbs was their Joshua Tree, Reflektor their Rattle and Hum/Achtung Baby/Zooropa all in one, and Everything Now is their POP.
After them and Coldplay, what other bands will go the U2 route?
Radiohead kind of did the U2 arc, but since they're not a pop band, their electronics phase was dark and artsy instead of dance-y.

but PH is shit and Boy is good, while AMSP is good and Songs of Innocence is shit

Ya know this album really is amazing. Listening to it rn and it's such a consistent project. Has such a relaxing mood to it. Nice mix between the poppy, energetic anco and the calming, ambient anco. This is def an all time favorite for me. What say you, anon?
yup. only time will (keep) tell(ing) but i think it's a real deal classic. anco are like the beatles to me

I'm not racist but I genuinely believe this album is miles above Pet Sounds or any other acclaimed Wilson work from the 60s.

It's not even better than Brian's solo debut.

Please, when it comes to elegant storytelling in a complex yet still catchy and memorable way there's no contest. Instead of straight up pop music it uses all the powerful evokers at its disposal to build wonderful mental pictures that make you relax along with the music.
What's some good post-punk that isn't gay club music like the chameleons or echo and the bunnymen?

Are DJs are the only relevant artists left?
They're the tastemakers, the soundscape sculptors, the boundary pushers, and the critical thinkers. No one else comes close.
Kode9 is literally DUDE NICK LAND LMAO: the producer
You're joking right. DJ's don't do shit but put together a playlist and make it seem like they're doing shit on stage.
If anything, I would give those titles to the actual producers.
I've been working at a record store for years and I'm very involved in my local music scene, and I can't name a single DJ, so no.
Sing one song perfectly all the way through or The Fripperrino will shoot you! Which song do you pick?

I have a question on my snare drum audition next week. On the second line, should I buzz those quarter notes with one hand, or play more of an actual buzz roll? Also, let me know if you'd be interested in seeing the entire audition.
