Everything is wrong with that crap:
- Their name is TND fans. Only imbeciles use Fantanodrones.
- He's not a waifu but a serious critic. His threads barely have any images anyway.
- Disliking is disliking, trolling is trolling. Don't confuse them, moron. Making a Melon general with an offensive post is trolling.
- You took those numbers out your ass.

Can a white European guy play and sing the blues while mimicking Jonh Lee Hooker, Lightnin Hopkins and Howlin Wolf?
>>74323638
You can try, but you won't evoke the exact aesthetics and emotions of these bluesmen because their music was a reflection of their lives in a place, a time, and a society which you'll never experience.
But you can make blues music that reflects your own experiences. You won't make music exactly like John Lee Hooker did, but you will make music true to yourself and your experiences. And that's what the blues is all about. Good luck!

Hey /mu/, I imagine that some of you write reviews on sites like rym or sputnik or just for your own blog. What sort of responses do you get both from artists and your audience? Share stories and feels
>be excited for a bands new album
>last album was great
>new album sounds like generic arena rock
>exclaim disappointment in review
>member of said band turns up in the comments section defending band
>inadvertently admits he doesn't care for half of the songs on the album
>mfw I have to put up with this shit for a third of the negative review of promos I write
Hey /mu/, after a little advice. There's a particular style of music that I really like, and I'm desperately trying to find more, but I can't pin it down. I'm guessing it must have a name because it's quite a distinct style, but I'm going to have trouble giving examples.
It's kinda bluesy, but it's kind of a particular South American style. The most mainstream example, though it's not spot on, is the music (but not the vocals) of Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. A better example (though again without the vocals) is a track called The Princess by Parov Stelar, which recently featured in a car advert.
It's hard to pin down because it's not a particular quality that qualifies it, more a vibe or a feel. Though obscure af, the best example is the music that accompanied an old cancelled tv show from the 90s called American Gothic (pic related). I've actually tried tracking down the music to that, but with no luck.
For a little elaboration, it wouldn't be out of place for this music to have a gospel-style choir involved too, but it's not gospel blues I already checked that out. Piano is nearly always involved.
Another example I've come across recently, which certainly has elements of what I'm looking for, but isn't quite right, is a track called Don't Ever Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down by Eric Bibb (ft. Maria Mildaur and Rory Block).
It's definitely a slower style, slow and soulful, not in the least bit 'upbeat'. I'm hoping someone here who knows their stuff can point me in the right direction!
Can you help me /mu/?
How crucial music theory is for music listening? Or reviewing? Do you know or study any music theory?
>>74323589
>How crucial music theory is for music listening? Or reviewing?
For reviewing - absolutely. And that's the main problem of "rock" criticism and critics, relying on emotional descriptors.
>>74323737
Rock music can't stand up to that kind of scrutiny though. It was made to be talked about using emotional descriptors.
>>74323737
does music theory itself not rely on emotional descriptors at some point?
it has to, right? otherwise it's just a bunch of statements about harmonics
