Can ponies really be too eager to please?

So all in all that was a decent episode I'll give it an 8. I kinda have some issues with dialogue between Starlight and Twilight as it was repeated over and over again.
Twilight should have mentioned it was Celestia,not Twilight herself who moved to ponyville.
There were some pretty funny bits though with Fluttershy and Rarity. Tabitha is such a treasure.

Not offended at all by this episode.
Though one has to wonder since Daring Do was explicitly mentioned as an Actual pony what kind of Ramifications does this have for her. Is this book the reason she's retiring now?

Maybe it's cause I know exactly what they're referencing and pointing out. Now that I've had some time to think about it I don't dislike it as much. When I watch the show I sometimes forget how flippant and not friendship-ish ponies can be in the show. Maybe it does make sense that they liked Twilight's lessons more before she shifted to princess like duties? That would make sense if they could relate more when she was normal.
I want to like the episode, and thankfully I'm making sense of things now that the meta shock is wearing off. It's just a bad first impression I think. I'll wait to really talk about it till I can see it again.

We could've had an episode where some ponies try to apply the friendship lessons in real pony life, only for them to not work and complain. We could've had ponies complain about how the lessons don't work and how they have an obviously better solution to their problems. Or perhaps someone who is being mentioned in the journal complaining that this is not how it happened at all, etc.
We could've had a pony thank the M6 for opening her eyes and making her realize she was the problem the whole time.
Instead we had 20 minutes of cracking jokes at the fandom in a way that's the opposite of subtle, and a pop-ish song. I thought after SoL and StFF we had enough meta jokes and episodes, I hoped for something better.
Though some of the gags were funny, I must admit. Rarity and Tabitha killed it as always.
