I'm thinking about the episode ranking surveys I do and am considering changing it from using the sorter to make a ranked list to just having Anons rate all the episodes on a 1-10 or 1-5 scale instead. Then just taking averages for all the episodes to get a ranking.
Think I'd be able to get more Anons to participate doing only ~180 ratings as opposed to 800+ battles? And do you think the loss of ranking points would affect the final ranking's accuracy too much?

The way I've always imagined it is it's a combination of a lot of little stories/ mini adventures that the different ponies have. Pinkie and Dash are off doing pranks, the CMC are trying to find burried treasure, Rarity keeps trying to find a spot to relax, etc. Small things could be blown out of proportion for comedic effect. I think it could make for a really great episode really.

I think you could do an episode with tiny little conflicts and split them to be resolved but the structure of the show is usually (if not always) a "What I learned today about friendship is" Even if its not as explicit anymore as it was in the letters to Celestia ARC

How those were resolved were lack luster but I think you could do a whole episode without Applejack having to fix everything but the conflict would most likely be changed to Twilight being unable to run the farm. It's just an age old formula that works. The only way I can see it not really existing is if the conflict was something we all know was going to happen anyway. Say the conflict is getting back home from the beach. Then we could have all kinds of wacky stuff happening that doesn't stop our halt our pony friends while not turning it into a "OH NO WE'RE LOST" plot
