Is this bait? There's no way you actually think this, right? LoE was a shit-show of bad characterisation for some characters (mostly Rarity), a mediocre villain with a very forced motivation (also Filthy Rich did nothing wrong), and needless romance once more, with just some redeeming scenes and twists. Even some of the songs were somewhat lacking (the villain song and the "new magic" one). The first special was okay but nothing more than average, the second one had a neat idea but kind of mediocre execution (to be fair, I can't really remember right now what made me rate it lower than the first, so maybe those two would switch), and the third one was an absolute mess story-wise. I usually like Glimmer, but this more than anything else felt like it was forced and they didn't even try to integrate her properly. It was all way too easy. Also while I liked the pony scene, the animation, especially expressions, looked bizarre at times, like the pony puppets weren't exactly like in the show or something. It was weird.
I'd maybe give you specials #1 and #2 being better than the three to five worst S6 episodes or something, but LoE ranks not very far above EqG1 for me and the third special isn't all that much higher. But I don't see how they'd be any better than that, and definitely not better than all of S6 or even its average.

I agree with the original plan for FG being pretty neat, but I'll need some sources on it being Hasbro's and especially Meghan's fault.

Also like with the Jim memes I think this is once again a case of overestimating the role the director has, although Ishi probably does have more influence on EqG than Jim on the show because of EqG's format.

Gloriosa's motivation was better than that of your pic related. And pretty much most show villains. She had something that was dear to her, that her family was in possession of for generations, suddenly taken away and didn't know what to do, allowing otherworldly magic take control of her desires. I mean, name a show villain with a better sympathetic characterisation.

Except they were the best songs in the movie? Seriously, I don't get how /mlp/ loves Legend You Were Meant To Be which is terrible but doesn't care for these which have so many advantages over it. They serve for characterisation, they help move the plot, they're not generic pop shit, and the singing is genuinely better without those annoying "oh-oh, woah-oh".

Point taken on Gloriosa's motivation being the most sympathetic one, I might be misremembering and what really irked me was Filthy Rich's characterisation being different from the show. However I did find it stupid that Gloriosa would keep the financial difficulties a secret instead of making everyone aware (especially former alumni) and asking for support (which is pretty much what happens in the end) and also that she thought that magic powers would somehow help her (although that can be attributed to the corruption). It's honestly not unlike Starlight not thinking of writing letters to Sunburst or otherwise contacting him.

Well, I didn't say I loved that one, it's also not the best. I do have to say that after listening again, Stand for Everfree is OK too. I remembered it as being too repetitive and going overboard with the music, doesn't seem to be the case though. However I stand by what I said about Embrace the Magic. Yes, it serves for characterisation, but the lyrics are just not very song-like and it's not very interesting music-wise (It may not be pop, but still sounded pretty generic). Midnight in Me has a similar problem with the lyrics although it's more that the lyrics just don't quite fit the rhythm/pace in some places (which makes those parts pretty fun to listen to and hear how the singer tries to get all the words out in time).
