You'll have to just accept that you can't get her exact coat color. Best you can do is do a checker pattern with yellow/orange to create the illusion of an in-between color, perhaps with the lightest gray added into the mix to make it darker.

I dont even know what vector art is. I just think that's a good picture of the 6 together and something that would pixelate well. I feel a lot of the recent stuff we do is getting too complicated with shading and complexity that just doesn't translate well to pixels. cmc banner and aryanne portrait are good examples of that.

I wouldn't say she's that complex, I did my best trying to do the same amount of detail that was on the other works, I'm certainly not on pixelwizard's/spritefag's level

vector art is basically like a screenshot from the show, it has little artistic value compared with something hand drawn, if you asked me

It IS easier to make sprites off vector art, but easier almost never means better. I disagree with cmc mural being complex, I think the princesses mural is the most complex and beautiful thing that we've made and nothing has yet come close to it

Everything looks coherent and well to me personally, the only thing that stands out in the murals is the second trixie, who looks simpler than the rest of the murals. I think going with just flat vector art pixel art will be the thing that will look out of place (unless we add our own shading to it, like we did on some of our portraits)
But that's just my personal opinion

I agree with vector art being boring when sprited up, but we're competent enough to add shading to it after the fact. I'd much rather sprite based off of a good picture that I want to work on, and then build a picture that adds value to the canvas than I would sprite up a poorly drawn image. The image we chose to make >>30478041 off of was pillow shaded anyway, so that didn't save us any work. And a lot of the characters look quite odd and off model, like Pinkie.

I'm not the spritemaster guy either, just another spritefag.

The big murals were made from preexisting artwork though, while the portraits were reletively simple, boasting no background apart from derpy's, the big murals have a rich and complex background

Most of the vector art like >>30478167 have no worthwhile background (and a ton of cheesy filters), making a big mural from vector art would be quite the challange

not saying that it can not be done, but I personally think each huge mural should have a separate art style (like princesses and cmc murals) showcasing the richness and artistic reach of our community
But, again, it's just my opinion

Okay, I think I know the guy who did this.
I looked through the archives and that artwork was never quite done. It appeared abandoned in its original state, over a month back, when the Megaman was still blue. Eventually, someone attempted to recolor him to pink/purple, but gave up before finishing it.
I'm no spriter, but I took the Megaman from the picture I posted and spent a few minutes touching him up and finishing the recolor. Look what you made me do, /mlp/. I might conjure him up back from the abyss.

Good picture, but there's not a good way to make it mural sized. It's square, so we'd have to shrink it to fit the top border and then have a lot of empty space to either side. It should use the whole area better, something the last image didn't do either (everything was too spread out and disconnected).
