One half of the protal had the Orb of Variolus, which was supposed to open a gate to the Hivemind. To open it, she needed the power of love to fuel the changeling magic, which is what made the building glow. It was gathered via the EVO towers.

The other half of the portal had the Dreamstome, which has a magical connection to Faust and can locate her. To open that, she needed the power of heaven to open the gate, that's where Blue comes in. With Chitty's freakishly well researched knowledge due to her worldtrek where she literally read everything even remotely connecting to gods, they located Blue's location and set up shop there, specifically for it's power. Without it, they can't get to heaven. When the moment was exactly right, as in immediately after the unfulfilled plan to give Chitty the weapon to face heaven went off, it was set to IMMEDIATELY open up the gates and funnel all that Blue Lumi right into the portal, where it would open the Heaven Side.

Clear things up?

The moment the letters had been seen, the moment they finally broke through the haze of her mind, that exact instant when it all clicked together had been the moment it had all broken loose.

Everything was red.

She had barely moved at all when the first wave of power came out. She hadn't meant for it to happen, not a single spell had been cast, it had simply come.

The stone monument and it's proclamation were shattered, cast into nothing but pebbles by her rage alone. The trees that had so dutifully bent aside to grant her view found themselves buckling and crackling as they were forced even further aside.

Her booming calls surely reached every edge of the island, leaving no doubt they would be heard. No doubt that the changeling would know of her, and her anger.

Her head turned, and somewhere in the crackling roar she realized that the trees in her sight had fallen. It slowly sank in that none stood in her way as she searched with eyes alone for any trace of her.

When she found nothing, the roar inside her head only grew louder.

A voice behind her tried to call out, only to be left behind along with everything else on the ground as she took to the storming skies once more.

It struck her, as quickly there and gone as a flash of lightning, that she hadn't held doubt for the message. Not for a single second had she wondered if the creature lie for the sake of mindgames, or for barter or threat. It would have been odd, and she would have thought it absurd any other day to think a changeling nothing but wholly honest. Things had changed.

Everything had changed with seven simple letters.

She had not doubted, she had not wondered, she knew.

The one who had written those words thought them nothing but the truth.

There was no sign of her beneath them, just as there had been no sign before the attack was made, yet it enraged her all the same when she found nothing beneath them. No trace of the monster, the creature, the horror she sought.

Another wave, leaving a streak of torn dirt thinner than her own body yet longer across than the path from that farmland to the town she'd lived all her life. Yet nothing cried in a wound so similar, none let loose a call that would reveal their place.

When both hooves curled inwards, the view before her eyes distorted. It had little to do with the sudden gust of wind.

It had everything to do with the sudden rise the treeline, and a new hill formed from nothing.

Justice, the word stuck with her long after the shakes from every other word had left. It screamed out to her, clung to her mind and her body without ever letting go like a needy child in her grasp. Justice, a word that had seemed so far away.

Now, she could see it as clearly as if it stood before her.

Justice would come, if the changeling wanted it to or not.

Her hooves curved down, and a dustcloud mushroomed up in it's wake.

Her wings closed and she fell to the earth, streaking down like a star cast from the heavens.

When the shockwave finally settled, when the scattered rain finally came back down to touch on her hat, when the reverberation in her ears was once more replaced by nothing more than the blood rushing though her head, she could see.

She had torn away everything, and still could not see a trace of the changeling.

She marched into the treeline once more, passing the threshold of stripped bare elder trunks and back once more into the overcast line that awaited her. Once more the storm above was reduced, lessened to a mere few sprinkles on her hat that rolled off with every determined step.

There was no more hesitation in her hooves. Her every flicker of sight and sound step resounded with purpose. Every swing of her eyes no longer feared what they would see, every breath that rolled from her nostrils was steady and strong.

She hunted without pause, and walked with her head held high.

Her mind held one thought.

Bring justice.

Justice, for the one who had been lost.

In her mind, it could only be one thing.

With it, her hoofsteps ceased as well.

Though the rushing waves, the fierce winds, the howling storm, she listened.

She listened, until she heard the rustle and click. So soft, it could have easily been missed. So muted, anyone else would have thought it a trick of the wind.

There were no such thoughts when she opened her eyes, and looked out into the dark of the storm.

High above, in webs of branches on the tree, she saw it.

A shape so very like a pony, yet too large to ever hold one. An object so familiar, from it's thick limbs to the lump on it's back that rose from a thin neck.

Though the shadows, through the dark caused by the rain hidden behind the furious clouds, her eyes honed in on that shape so well hidden, and brought her spear to bare.

>Everyone is going to finally find... justice.

Magic burned like never before, locked around and onto the spear, sharpening it, powering it, making it more than any scraps of wood ever dreamed could be.

Her target in sight.

Her breath stopped.

Her hooves steeled.

>Ah'm gonna... Ah'm...

She hesitated, only for a moment. Only for a single second, she paused. Her limbs locked in of their own accord, her eyes so sharp dulled. One single second made all the difference.

One single second before the spear was launched.

"Ah've got it."

It took some time before she realized it was not her own act that had done it.

Some time before she registered the sound of wood flying, the sound of it cracking when it came to a sudden stop, and the mixture of crunching and wet squish that sounded when it found it's mark, clearing all doubt of what had been hit.

By the time the shape hit the ground a short distance away, she hadn't even noticed she'd stopped breathing.

If the rain had stalled, or if her mind had simply blocked it out, she did not know.

All she knew was that when her eyes locked onto that shape, that body hidden in mud and brush, everything had gone silent.

Just like before, just like with Sunset, it was over, and she couldn't believe it.

It had really been so simple.

Something was wrong.

What exactly that thing was had become apparent even before the magic surrounded the inside of the brush, and lifted.

A blank, empty face stared back at them.

Blank in a way only wood can.

The construction was haphazard, yet shockingly skilled. Green wads held together chunks of freshly ripped back to a stick fashioned frame. With nothing more than a few trunks with chewed 'legs' and a batch of grass for the hair, a double had been created. Nothing close to able to fool any should they come even close to it, or spot it with a light greater than a mere flicker some distance away, but in the shadows of the treeline and the fury of the storm, it was more than enough.

With a sudden jerk, her spear had been pulled free and put beneath the gaze burning behind thin glasses. Beneath that gaze, the skewered crab that had lied where the double's heart should have been twitched only once more before growing still.

Dozens above them. Shapes that could only be of one creature, each one hidden the moment the lightning left the sky.

All of them, hanging by the neck as they swayed in the storm.

Clicking inside.

There were no doubts. Not in her eyes, not in her words, not in her heart.

Not in the voice that went unheard in the shadows.

With the summoning of their light, the challenge had been met.

This would end, one way or the other.
