I really didn't like this episode.

Usually im called a hasdrone since i almost always love it, but this one just felt weird. It got only about 3 smiles out of me the entire time. Which sucked because I was looking forward to a Maud episode.

Maybe thats the problem, I usually have no expectations, so looking forward to this one made it suck. Or I just wasnt in the mood. Or this was really a shit episode.

Everything bothered me today,

I cant really put my finger on it, but its like she understood Maud too fast, its not really that she pissed me off, more that her interaction with maud pissed me off. compare it too twilight meeting the other main 6, first they were either neutral or there was slight dislike, and didnt understand each other completely, but with glim and maud it feels like they just met and now they understand each other perfectly, felt kind of forced.

what the hell, I wanted to dispute this so I looked over the episode list, and most of the episodes I considered bad and different from the original show, which ive always thought was part of season 3 (since thats the worse season), tuned out to actually be in season 4. It does seem like the changes in episode format and feel started in season 4 too me.

So the pre-alicorn arc does seem to be a good portion to consider the 'original' show. were obviously in glimglam arc now, but where did that start? she appeared in the start of season 5, but only became part of the main characters in the end of the season (along with the stare into the camera ending it does feel like the end of an arc, felt like the end of MLP to me, pic related).

The middle part consisting of season 4-5 is all over the place, disord becoming more regular, new ponies being added and old almost forgotten ones being re-added, CMC gets cutymarks, the main idea seems to be twilight becoming the princess of friendship and everyone else achieving their dreams while the main 6 ascend to protectors of friendship status.

I don't see the fuss. The show maintains much of the same magic it did for me when I first started watching in very late 2010. I felt like I could let my worries go when I watched this, as opposed to creating new ones.

I don't know. I honestly don't understand why anyone would bother if the experience makes them miserable. Shit, I even visited a Pony Discord, and many of the people there stopped watching midway through 2012 during the perceived golden age, and yet they actively participate in the fandom after all these years.

I enjoyed this episode. That said, Pinkie started to get on my nerves. And I get the feeling writer Nick Confalone wanted it that way.

Pinkie loves all of her sisters, but is especially devoted to Maudalina Daisy Pie for reasons unknown to anyone except possibly Maud and Pinkie themselves. This bond, as we have seen in previous episodes, borders on obsession, and that gives the extroverted party planner a huge blind spot in terms of relating to her sister - Pinkie KNOWS Maud is reserved and a borderline recluse, but she doesn't GET it. At least, not yet.

The tie-in with Starlight Glimmer was rather well done. Starlight still feels like an outsider at times. Maud does, too, but appears content with being "different." The kite was a nice touch.

Ponyville still has a few secrets left to be discovered. This one reminded me of one of those STAR TREK movies. I'll let you figure out which one.

The fact that Maud knows of a rock that will let a pony take over Equestria? This made me smirk out loud. Since she hasn't claimed the power for herself, this further tells me she feels content with her unconventional life. But...

Boulder has mad skillz.

Pinkie just received a much-needed friendship lesson.

Pinkie was just as annoying as she was in a Friend in Deed. Which is a lot. But at least in a Friend in Deed, besides learning her lesson she also reunited Cranky with Matilda. Though to be honest since Cranky was moving in Ponyville and would have had to get out of the house to do groceries and shit they would have eventually met so all that Pinkie did was make it a month earlier at most.
