read the advice in the OP, it is pretty good. learn from qms who you think are talented

personally, I'd come up with two to three different settings, general story ideas and premises then throw them all away. find the interesting parts of each premise, find what doesn't work. think about it, think about it again, until you realize you've spent hours and hours thinking about something that isn't real, then go make it. think about your strengths, inspiration often comes from outside the writing itself. there was a very long period where I was planning zodiac but not running it, making the thread promos was nice when I felt down or lacking confidence (I had 12 made before the first thread went up)

the spy thing could be interesting, think about what draws you to the idea, what could be cool or different about it. if you end up running you will likely find players that fit the feel of your quest. they are very helpful and actually shape how the story develop! it's hard to anticipate how your quest/cyoa will look until it is actually on the board. I'll keep an eye out for ya in the future
