I don't have a discord account and I think this comic's quality dropped really hard when Pencils started to circlejerk with tumblerians who begged him to put their OCs into the comic. Now every page gives you another bunch of pointless OCs, poor color selection, spaghetti legs and no story.

I don't have a problem with various characters that appears on the side and I enjoy the story arc so far.

What I really miss is the grey theme.
Every hobbyist can do shadecel colors, but pretty much everyone fail at greyscale. It's much harder than it looks.

Sin City is one of those rare productions that managed to do it nicely, but failed miserably in Sin City 2 as they tried to be innovative/progressive and fucked up the contrast.

I have to say, I don't mind your OC (I get why you did it) and I don't mind the story. I love the characters, so I'll read your story to the end.
It is true however that the story before was full of humor and trope, while we have more and more pages that just "advance stuff" without standing out.

I think the more recent "best" pages where the limestone kiss, both the kiss and the next page with anon on the sidestreet were hilarious, we wouldn't mind seeing more of just that instead of that big adventure, but I don't mind.

I'm just afraid you want to give up now because you saw too big, like it happens so often, as well as a "what could have been" feeling.

Its the same for colors, sure, its sortof neat, but you were doing soooooo well already with the greyscale it was almost perfect, and the fact that you sortof integrated colors made it even better now.

Now it just feels like you feel your greyscale work is inferior, plus it makes the pages longer to come out, and it makes them more grueling for you which makes us fear you'll also stop sooner, so all this combined makes the colors feels less "worth it" in the grand scheme.

For me, Discord would have been the first character to move the plot since he's the only one who understand different worlds and dimensions and could possibly help in undertanding Anon's nature. Sunburst could work as a scientist along with Twilight who would have researched his problems. To be honest, entire plotlines with every OC was artificial just to fit Anon's narration, which might as well being resolved by established character who know stuff or lived long enough to learned it. Pencils was just mostly interested in drawing original furry designs from Satyrs to Minotaurs. Than really trying to tie it in to the plot.

Yes? It seems consistent from what I've followed. I'm no fan of OC and have been zoning them out for the most part but as a story telling device, they seem like the obvious choice. If Pencils wants to tell an original story, it makes complete sense to use OCs to tell it. Using already existing characters would not make the story more comprehensible nor do I think Pencils chose OCs for personal reasons. It's how you tell a story based entirely on out of show concepts.

I've only seen the early comics and found it worse than "lackluster".
Looked hastily on a few drawings posted here, but I really don't like that style.

Guessed the style to be a choice from the Art Director (Bobby?) and part of his pitch to Hasbro, so now he refuse to change it because the concept art from #1 is what got him the franchise to begin with.

I believed he wouldn't have it any other way as they have published lots of comics with that style and make huge changes to a comic is often the worst you can do.
Some of the audience still with you will hate the new style and leave.
Old audience who left, rarely comes back as they have found new interests.
New audience is very difficult to attract for something that probably passed its prime. Especially if reading early numbers presents an inferior style.

Your APA6-17 on the other hand is lovely and according to my my taste.
(And no shaky legs and lack of balance in regular poses either - I like that.)

Love the "ponies are poisonous" comment as it brings back nostalgic smiles. Loved it the first time I saw it as the comment fitted perfectly together with the scene/body-language. (Not as well here where only a head is shown but it's the reminiscing factor that makes it work.)

Man, the "Guardians of Harmony" thing was Hasbro using their marketing teams to completely miss the point again. It's like they had data on what might make appealing "boy toys", so they asked some people to do MLP but with armor and battle and stuff.

For one, Fosgitt's art looks retarded, so this was going to look retarded no matter what. For two, they have huge eyes and giant baby heads. Pony was never going to look battle-ready. Them being tiny little underdogs was part of the appeal, which was critically fucked up by having all of them achieve all their outlandish, high-reaching dreams.

10/10 that was great. The page overall is a bit weird, though. The masketta ponies run in, so you'd think they would attempt to fight them or just somehow stop them, but nothing is shown. Meanwhile Anon is just opening doors - which, by the way, should have been mentioned earlier. Moonglow is talking about "the door" being barred, but we don't even know there is a door. Last panel on last page should've shown them standing in front of it so we know what's happening now. But yeah, the gang is being rushed by the guardians in the first panel, but the rest is just opening the door and some casual talking, the pace feels off.
Also, if Anon's pushing the door open, would he really be holding it that way?
